Possible errors in the spec..
I just downloaded the libtheora-1.0beta2 and found some sentences in the spec that I believe are wrong: 1 - In section 6.4.4 "DCT Token Huffman Tables" step one says: "For each consecutive value of hti from 0 to 80, inclusive". As I understand there should be only 80 tables so shouldn't it be "0 to 79, inclusive" instead of 80?? 2 - In section 7.4 "Macro

HP Laserjet Printer Installation
Hi all, I have a very good query related to printer sharing using samba. Following is the scenario... I had installed HP laserjet 9040Dn printer on redhat Enterprise linux 5. Shared it using samba. Used winbind protocol to integrate linux with windows AD 2003. Now i am able to see printer in Active directory as well as linux computer account in AD. But unable to set option lpadmin -p printer

FPGA implementation/ players speed?
Today I've got first video clips made by the camera and compressed "on the fly" - 1280x1024x30fps. Image quality is far from perfect - I don't have yet any way to preview images, and a single acquisition still requires a bunch of commands. So I'm really close to have a camera that will be able to serve the Ogg/Theora streams, now but will it be possible to play it on a PC? I

[PATCH]
Hello, Here is my first speedup patch. Like 10-11%. No IDCT yet. Please feel free to comment my code or even better think about improvements. :) I belive my routines are not so bad, maybe one day they will be even more faster. What needs to be optimized is the loop filter fuction. I have no ideas now how to do it. It does not leave much space for parallel stuff, copying memory from lot of

Various typo in spec
Hi, I have few questions on the specification. * Just to understand : - What is the interest of super blocks ? Is it to save place when recording coded block flags (7.3) ? - What is the advantage of using the coded order ? it is more often easier with raster order (especially to find neighbor in 7.8.1 for exemple). Is it to simplify the correspondence between block, macro block

Macroblock Coding Issues
Hi, So I have almost completed a new VP3 decoder implementation. In the course of doing so, I have encountered something odd about macroblock coding. As a quick overview, VP3 has a notion of fragments (8x8 pixels) and superblocks (32x32 pixels, 4x4 fragments). These apply to each individual plane (e.g., a 64x64 video will have 4 Y superblocks and 1+1 C superblocks, 64 Y fragments

Wireless problems
Hi guys, I have a problem with my Centos 6.4. I am experiencing a Wireless Disconnects, some time ago I had them constantly each 2-3minutes. After upgrading to new kernel (and other software from "Software Update" I am still exepriencing disconnects but every 10-15 minutes. It makes me angry because I am doing a lot of work with ftp servers. Card: *Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285

Dell vostro 1550, BCM 4313 wireless, not connecting to net
Hello All, ?I have a Dell Vostro 1550 laptop. i3 core, 64 bit, 8gb ram etc etc. I had a nic interface, but some how the wired nic is not working. So I am trying to use the BCM 4313 wireless chip, of this system, to connect to the internet. ?I have Cent os 6.5 (64 bit) installed with the required libraries and kernel sources, headers etc. I got the source code of the driver,

MMX IDCT for theora-exp
Hello, I'm attaching IDCT MMX patch. I reused IDCT from theora-a3-MMXd.zip. It should work on 64bit X86 platform too. Here is most used functions when playing video with jet aircrafts (gripen) Ogg logical stream 310b2968 is Theora 720x480 29.97 fps video Encoded frame content is 720x480 with 0x0 offset I can play this video with like 200-300 frame drops on Athlon XP 1700+ CPU load (with

suspend to ram does not work with Geforce 310M (NVA8)
Hello. Minimal testcase for my problem: No X running, just a TTY. Use of the nouveau kernel module as of today (or any older) with an up to date vanilla kernel. Hardware: DELL Vostro 3500 with Geforce 310M. To suspend to ram I use this script, as suggested in Documentation/power/s2ram.txt: #!/bin/sh sync echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace echo mem > /sys/power/state When I try to suspend to

Re: [R] R - S compatibility table (fwd)
I appreciate Brian and Martin's answers -- and I certainly don't spend as much time & energy maintaining and answering questions about R as they do -- *but* it does seem to me that it would make a number of new (switching) user's lives easier if there were a succinct list of these differences, with a disclaimer ... I would be willing to maintain such a list, but since I

error installing RCurl in SUSE SLES10-SP2
dear list, i'm trying to install the package RCurl into a linux system running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2 but i get compilation errors which i guess should be due to some missing additional software. i've been searching about the R-help archives without success so i hope somebody can point me out to this missing piece. in principle, i have the necessary curl software installed:

FPGA implementation in the camera
Here http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/theora/2004-September/000619.html Andrey describe encoder structure, this like: "I see the following structure of the compressor implemented in the FPGA (Xilinx Spartan 3 1000K gates): 1. Data from the external frame buffer (FB) memory goes to the Bayer-to-YCbCr (4:2:0) converter in overlapping 20x20 tiles that produce 6 8x8 blocks (one macroblock) on the

Interlazed video posibilities
I don´t found any patent around this but i ned help with the patents. I can´t found all patents for interlazed video and I only read the patents around MPEG , the optimization for field based video can be aplied without problem, this is compatible whih the progresive encoding and in a few scenarios they can be positive. <p>process: <p>common: -2 bits to indicate video type 0x

question on theora encoding
Hello there, I'm a university student and our professor assigned us as a project to build a theora encoder/decoder. I need some help on some info that I didn't manage to find in Theora's reference. I am building a function that calculates motion estimation. When making motion estimations must I scan each and every macroblock in coded order? After that the motion vectors should be
