Video online
Hi, I held an introduction to Creative Commons last week. The Theora-encoded video (and slides) are available at www.romal.de . I had some serious problems encoding to theora. Is there a canonical way to convert mov and/or wmv to Theora ? I fiddled around whith ffmpeg2theora, but always got some out-of-sync-problems with audio and video. cu romal

Vorbis bistream definition / separation from ogg
Hi, I have some questions: 1) in the sources of the encoder_example (and of course in oggenc.c, too) I see a lot of dependance on ogg. I want to get totally rid of ogg and use the vorbis bitstream alone. From this reason stems the second question: 2) is there a definition of the vorbis bitstream somewhere? I don't need to know every single detail, just the informations necessary to

Vorbis determined to be as good as MPC at 128 kbps!!
I am very happy to announce that the aoTuV tuning of Ogg Vorbis has tied with Musepack at first place in the 128 kbps listening test. It has beat iTunes AAC, Lame MP3, ATRAC3, and WMA standard. :) http://www.rjamorim.com/test/multiformat128/results.html -- ------------------------------------------------- Stephen So PhD Student Signal Processing Laboratory School of Microelectronic

high bitrate quality?
Hi all, I used vorbis several years ago because of its freeness and VBR, but after playing ha.org and getting an mp3-capable discman, I switched to APS and API mp3 encoding. Now, I am liking musepack a lot, but the flexibility is more "there" for the vorbis format, including players, tagging comments (lyrics in the comments - killer idea!), etc.... However, I am a bit worried

qr.solve and lm
Dear R experts, I have a Matlab code which I am translating to R in order to examine and enhance it. First of all, I need to reproduce in R the results which were already obtained in Matlab (to make sure that everything is correct). There are some matrix manipulations and '\' operation among them in the code. I have the following data frame > ABS.df Pro syn

Getting --delete to work, simply
rsync version 3.1.2 protocol version 31 I've run into an issue using rsync on my QNAP NAS. I've installed Entware-ng on the NAS so that I can install better versions of programs, rsync being one of them. But, I've run into an issue wqith using the --delete option, as it has problems using wildcards. Initially a backup script looked like: #!/bin/sh for d in

ogg, ogm or mkv
hi guys, i'd like to have your opinion on using ogm or mkv containers for theora videos. since you recommend ogg containers for theora and vorbis officially i've been insisting on using .ogg. but for example eightsoft put ogm instead of ogg for theora on the last build of "super" and i send an e-mail to them about this issue. and i didn't get the whole idea on the

How to pass a model formula as argument to with.mids
Hello I would like to pass a model formula as an argument to the with.mids function from the mice package. The with.mids functon fits models to multiply imputed data sets. Here's a simple example library(mice) #Create multiple imputations on the nhanes data contained in the mice package. imp <- mice(nahnes) #Fitting a linear model with each imputed data set the regular way works

RPM file download
I see a package "x246-0.120-5.20120303.el6 (i686)" available in my Add/Remove Software tool. I can't find said package in any of the repos I've searched through. Can anyone point me to a link where I can download that package to my local repo? -- _ ?v? /(_)\ ^ ^ Mark LaPierre Registerd Linux user No #267004 https://linuxcounter.net/ ****

NHW Project - lower quality settings
Hi David! Many thanks for your very encouraging and kind feedback!!! (Hope you don't mind that I made your post public on the Theora channel). I try to be the more sincere as I can in my posts. Some people suggested me to make demo pages to explain how the codec works step by step, and I realize that it would be good, because certainly it will show that the NHW codec is not that complex and

Hi! OK, I'm trying to select some "useful outliers" from my dataset: I defined 11 "treshold" values (1 for each level of a variable (sampling site) as follows: tresholds<-function(x) { tapply(x,mm$NAME,FUN=mean ,simplify = T, na.rm=T)->med tapply(x,mm$NAME,FUN=sd ,simplify = T, na.rm=T)->standev standev+med } tresholds(mm$chl) Now I'd like to select

main plot title
Dear R users, I am having a problem with the main title of a plot. I have written a function returning a plot and I would like that the main title of this plot shows actually the name of the dataset I have used. So, for instance: if my dataset is called Chl, I would like that my plot to be entitled : "Raw periodogram of Chl". I know the function "paste". I suppose I would be

Ogv file only plays in VLC / Can't be used by most tools.
Hi, I'm new here - thanks for having me. (Sorry if I'm in the wrong place or a noob.) I downloaded the Theora encoder sample (ver 1.1.1), modified it to encode a sequence of bitmaps, and created an OGV file. The OGV file plays fine in the latest VLC (1.0.5), but I can't do much else with it: I tried uploading to YouTube, and the video just comes out really corrupt:

okay, working, but not quite pretty...
Hi all. I got my previous problem fixed. Effective uid and gid fix in dovecot.conf file made it work. However, I'm still seeing this in my /var/log/dovecot.conf dovecot: 2006-04-13 21:09:00 Info: imap(chl at iaminla.com): Effective uid=1000, gid=1000 The uid and gid *should* both be 1009, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to configure that. I looked around the list and
