add theora_user_yuv_out(theora_state *, yuv_buffer *) to libtheora?
Hi,
I'd like to add user-allocated frame memory to theora via a
theora_user_yuv_out callback. An additional helper function
(theora_user_buffer_is_freeable) would also be required.
With these two functions, user applications could submit memory
buffers directly to libtheora, which would reduce the number of frame
copies in a typical application from two per frame to one per frame.
I've

Simple RGB->YUV Stuff...
I've spent the weekend or so trying to get my head around Theora and I'm
just not having any luck. First of all, I really don't have any interest
in immersing myself in video encoding--I just have one simple thing I'd
like to do--so I haven't spent any time reading about the theory or
specs or anything like that.
I'm attempting to write a "render-to-theora"

question from beginner (YCbCr to RGB)
Hello, i'm sorry for my English is not good.
I need help with convert yuv_buffer data (YCbCr) to RGB without SDL.
I write:
BYTE *frame=new BYTE[YUV_BUFFER.y_height*YUV_BUFFER.y_width*4];
for(int cc=0; cc<YUV_BUFFER.y_height*YUV_BUFFER.y_width; cc++)
{
frame[cc*4+0]=YUV_BUFFER.y[cc]+1.371*(YUV_BUFFER.v[cc]-128);

Various typo in spec
Hi,
I have few questions on the specification.
* Just to understand :
- What is the interest of super blocks ? Is it to save place when
recording coded block flags (7.3) ?
- What is the advantage of using the coded order ? it is more often
easier with raster order (especially to find neighbor in 7.8.1 for
exemple). Is it to simplify the correspondence between block, macro
block

NHW Project development
Hello,
I know there is no community around NHW, but I would have liked to know
what you would like to see improved in the NHW codec.I know its results are
not perfect for now compared to high-end AV1/VVC codecs for example, but
could be ok giving its extremely fast speed.-However on high quality
images, I notably like its good results because of its neatness.-
Regarding things to improve, there

Raphael,
I do not believe it is possible to build a viable community around most hardware projects except super-universal based on very cheap/high-volume products like Pi or Arduino. We see the commercial benefits of Free Software/Open Hardware as it adds value to the hardware as users are ready to pay extra for the Freedom.

NHW Project development
Hi Andrey,
Thank you for your answer.Actually, NHW is very low-power so I think it
could be geared toward any hardware.But actually I don't have hardware
skills, so NHW is not a real hardware project for now maybe? I agree with
you that it is extremely difficult (for me) to build a community around
NHW, I'm certainly very bad/underskilled at it.Any help is welcome!
Cheers,
Raphael

[PATCH] drm/nv10/plane: add plane support for nv10-nv40
Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu>
---
This has received light testing on NV18 and NV34 cards, using the modetest
tool. Userspace support to use this for xv is not yet ready.
I decided against creating a new "pvideo" engine -- that just seems way too
heavy-handed compared to the ~10 lines of code in disp/nv04.c to deal with the
PVIDEO interrupts.
Even though

Simple encodig sample...
Hi all.
I'm Mat & I'm new :)
I'm testing libtheora + libogg perhaps for a commercial product.
I started watching encoder_example.c ... I simplified it for testing
it easier.
It seems ok to me but I have no experience with theora so I would like
to know if my code is correct.
I tried to debug it with Valgrind and I found 4 possible memory leaks...
but I think they can be

Oh, thank god you corrected this. :-) I was contemplating an "OggVid" format,
and here is why I'm steering against it (though, yes, this has been a topic of

Raphael,
Some 15 years ago I implemented limited functionality Theora in our cameras FPGA (it took me 6 month of hard labor), and then gave up - it is a very crowded space and it is difficult to compete with more advanced codecs. And for our other work we anyway need almost raw image data, so we are using JPEG-based JP4 format (https://community.elphel.com/jp4) that we originally developed for

Building Libtheora Beta 2 in Ms Visual C++ 2005 problems
Hi All,
I have been using a slightly modified version of libtheora (from about
a year ago) and since libthoera is now reached BETA 2 I thought it
would be time to update. My application worked fine with that version
of libtheora.
So now I am trying to build libtheora beta 2 in Ms Visual C++ 2005 and
I am having a few problems. When I try to compile it I get the error

V4L + Theora small app...
Hi all.
I post a small app I made that create 2 clips using a V4L device.
I would like to get every tips you think it's useful...
Some notes:
- I make 2 clips because in our project we create series of clips and
it's important to check that the all the resources ( memory,
descriptors, etc. ) are freed correctly and to reuse all the resources
that can be reused
- the clips are not well

NHW Project - quality improvement for -l4,-l5 settings
Hello,
I have improved quality for -l4 and -l5 high compression settings.These
settings are now really better and very competitive, I now prefer them
compared to x265 (HEVC).
Update at: http://nhwcodec.blogspot.com/
I am also working on -l6 quality setting, I can simply increase
quantization for it but I am not totally satisfied with this solution for
now... Looking for more advanced processing

Theroa Guess Confirmation
Hi there, is there any document giving a high-level overview of how to
use "libtheora"? As it stands, I'm scrounging through headers and
example code, and doing a whole lot of guessing. In the meantime,
could you either confirm or deny the following guesses?
1) Before compressing with Theora, I must unpack my YUY2 data into
three separate arrays (Y, U, and V respectively), and
