Newbie: How to rewind a videostream (long)
Hello, I'm new to this list, and pretty much also to the codec universe. In a computer game I'm working on, there is an 3D TV-screen onto which I project the frames of a movie. The movie is of course stored as theora, no audio as it's not needed yet. I have it working so far, extracting a frame and uploading it to the graphics card when the scene is drawn. The example file

Theora 1.1 rate controller
Hello everyone, I'm currently developing an adaptive videoconferencing application based on Ekiga which uses TFRC as a congestion control mechanism to adapt the video encoding rate according to the quality of the network experienced. My goal was to use the open-source Theora codec for video transmission. Unfortunately, it seemed that Theora 1.0 did not properly implement any correct CBR mode.

Live Stream Encoding
Hi There, i want to stream some pictures out of my application using the Theora codec. I can stream to a socket or a file. The current work based on the png2theora example. Something while enconding went wrong: I can see the whole video in VLC, but the complete duration of the file will not be displayed. If i play the video in Firefox, the first 2 seconds will not be played. I think the

V4L + Theora small app...
Hi all. I post a small app I made that create 2 clips using a V4L device. I would like to get every tips you think it's useful... Some notes: - I make 2 clips because in our project we create series of clips and it's important to check that the all the resources ( memory, descriptors, etc. ) are freed correctly and to reuse all the resources that can be reused - the clips are not well

Trying to do windows encoding dll
Hi everybody, me again. I'm trying to write my own VFW-like dll... It doesn't need to do much. 1.) compress a single frame and give it back to the host application 2.) host applications sends the frame 3.) client application receives frame 4.) client application tells the dll to decompress the data So if I try to do this, something is going wrong... Perhaps someone could have a look at my

Aspect ratio question
Hi, despite the warnings on the website ;-) I played with the current CVS source of theora on Windows 2000 w/ Microsoft Visual C++. The codec and the "experimental" example programs compiled fine. I also encoded a 33 MB MPEG2 (?) video (3 minute trailer) to a 14 MB .OGG using "mplayer -vo yuv4mpeg -ao pcm" and the "encoderwin" sample program, and play it with the

FFmpeg Theora encoding patch
Hi, Attached is my patch to add theora encoding to ffmpeg's libavcodec (by using libtheora). I am requesting help to fix the bug I mention below and am seeking general comments before I submit the patch properly. Files encoded using this encoder have a problem playing in VLC. The files will not play unless "Drop late frames" has been unticked in the advanced video settings.

Simple RGB->YUV Stuff...
I've spent the weekend or so trying to get my head around Theora and I'm just not having any luck. First of all, I really don't have any interest in immersing myself in video encoding--I just have one simple thing I'd like to do--so I haven't spent any time reading about the theory or specs or anything like that. I'm attempting to write a "render-to-theora"

Simple encodig sample...
Hi all. I'm Mat & I'm new :) I'm testing libtheora + libogg perhaps for a commercial product. I started watching encoder_example.c ... I simplified it for testing it easier. It seems ok to me but I have no experience with theora so I would like to know if my code is correct. I tried to debug it with Valgrind and I found 4 possible memory leaks... but I think they can be

a question about Bitstream Header.
Hi, I have a question about the format of Theora bitstream header. It seems to me that there are differences between the specification[1] (version 2004 Oct 1) and its reference implementation in libtheora 1.0alpha3 released at 2004 Jun 1. I mean that... please refer to Section 6.2 'Identification Header Decode' in that specification[1] and the function

Theora decode problem
I am trying to write a sample app that uses Theora for encoding/decoding a network video stream. Unfortunately, I keep running into this error: Run-Time Check Failure #3 - The variable 'MVect' is being used without being defined. It always happens on decryption, line 467 in decode.c. The issue is that CodingMethod is equal to 5 (CODE_GOLDENFRAME), which doesn't initialize the

Encoding theora...
Just trying to debug my theora encoder... just wondering if someone could give me some insight on a few thigns... In the yuv_buffer i'm sending in... i am just setting y_stride = y_width = videoWidth uv_stride = videoWidth/2 y_height = videoHeight uv_height = videoHeight/2 Making the y buffer (width*height) and each of u and v (width*height/4) Am i correct in doing this ? problems understanding yuv_buffer format
hi folks! once again i am trying to decode a yuv_buffer to a 24 bit RGB buffer. last time nobody seemed willing to tell me how to do this, so i am trying again. i try to make my questions more simple. what i need to know is: how many bytes are in each y, u, v array? what for are these strides? what exactly is a "plane" in a frame, and what does it do? what i want to achieve is

theora header bitmap for alpha3
below is an rfc-style bitmap of the initial theora header. I've checked it against the spec and the code in libtheora; please double check :) I'm posting it here for those implementing demux stages (which necessarily don't use libtheora), and hence offering it for the spec. A typical demux stage just needs to pick out the FRN, FRD and KFGSHIFT fields, without going through the whole

Theroa Guess Confirmation
Hi there, is there any document giving a high-level overview of how to use "libtheora"? As it stands, I'm scrounging through headers and example code, and doing a whole lot of guessing. In the meantime, could you either confirm or deny the following guesses? 1) Before compressing with Theora, I must unpack my YUY2 data into three separate arrays (Y, U, and V respectively), and

YUV Format
I posted this the other day... but it didn't get delivered... ------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm getting stuck into a theora decoder for directshow... i was just wondering if someone could give me some info. What output format does theora use ? http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwmt/html/YUVFormats.asp

Changing line length in Sweave output works for numeric, but not for character vectors
Hi there: I'm preparing a report in RStudio 0.96.330 on a Mac OS. I'm running R 2.15.0 I understand from Ross Ihaka's document (http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/~stat782/downloads/Sweave-customisation.pdf) that you can modify the line length of Sweave output by a call to options(wdith=x). This works great for me for numeric output, but not for character vectors that I have to print.

encoder settings
Hi! Some background: I am trying to create an application that would encode video taken by USB camera using Theora and then send it to the client. I have almost succeeded, but I have one problem. When I grab video frames from the camera and encode them they form 4KB OGG pages, then I send them over TCP/IP to the client application. Since I want to achieve as small latency as possible I
