Building theora
Hello, I'm trying to get theora built. However there is not a page listing what depdencies there are. Would it be possible to have a developers page with the point release tarballs etc? (There is subversion access, but I do not have subversion for my OS). I could not find libtheora release, only an alpha, this wasn't very clear, it has been released now I think. The libogg and

up-to-date debian packages?
The debian (unstable) libtheora and libogg packages are a little out of date. I was wondering if anybody had made their own packages for libogg-1.1.1 and libtheora-1.0alpha4. If not, I'll go ahead and package them up and put them up on my own debian repository or something, and let you guys know where to get them. But if somebody has already done that, let me know. thanks, Tim

libtheora-1.0alpha7 release
All, I've done a new alpha release of the libtheora reference implementation. This is mostly build fixes from the alpha6 release; I'd failed to enable the new MMX asm by default, and the x86 asm code did a relocation that caused problems on SELinux. You can get it in the usual place: http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/theora/libtheora-1.0alpha7.tar.bz2

building libtheora 1.0 on win64
I have an old conferencing app that uses theora and I'm building it for win64. libthora 1.1 builds just fine, but libtheora 1.0 has errors related to assembly code when building for x64. I've tried using 1.1, but the video does not look right -- the clients all generate their own first 3 packets instead of sending them over the network since they assume they are all on the same version

libtheora 1.1alpha2 (thusnelda) release
I'm pleased to announce the second alpha release of our next generation encoder for the free Theora video format, codename "thusnelda". The second release incorporates a number of changes which improve both compression efficiency and execution speed. This release includes working MSVC project files, but the assembly optimization hasn't yet been ported, so performance there will

Sampling encoder timings between libtheora-1.0 & libtheora-1.1beta3
As requested by Ralph in my introduction e-mail to this list [1], I've gone ahead and done some sample test timings for encoding between libtheora-1.0 and libtheora-1.1beta3, as available from the Theora website [2]. So far, I've tested with 4 different files that I generated with content I already have. The files, in brief, are the following: 1. planet-earth-360x240.yuv4mpeg - A

theora release todos
Hi, last week's thread about getting closer to a release fizzled out. The mailing list discussion and the TheoraTodo wiki item suggest the following are required for release: 1. freeze the theora logical bitstream format 2. complete the reference implementation tools 3. stablize the libtheora API 4. complete the documentation I'd like to suggest this as

Theora, liboil and Cell processors
Hello all, On more than one occasion I have advocated the use of liboil over incorporating mmx code into libtheora. The two main reasons are: 1) To keep optimisation code in one place and out of the library. Everywhere else in the Linux world there is a move to centralise in order to co-ordinate experts and reduce redundancy. This reason does not seem to find a lot of agreement in Theora as it

A script to convert existing video files to Ogg
(Theora/Vorbis) available. Message-ID: <410011E4.2040904@hut.fi> Hello, I noticed that it's quite difficult currently to create Ogg format files (Ogg Theora for video and Ogg Vorbis for audio). There's only the encoder_example-program, which is included in the libtheora source packages, but seemingly not in any libtheora/libtheora-devel packages that are around the web for e.g.
