DRM for Theora over RTP
Hi,
are there any open source DRM implementations for protecting Theora
streams over RTP?
I only know of the ISMACryp specification which seems to be licence free
and so could be used in an open source project.

CPU saving way to lower quality of Theora stream
Hi,
is there a good concept to lower the quality of a Theora stream without
completely reencoding it?
For example to make a lower bitrate stream out of a higher bitrate
stream on the fly on some sort of proxy server. I am thinking about
something like requantization.
If you think requantization is also the best (or the only) option for
Theora please let me know.
Kind regards,
Franz

NHW Project - speed comparison with x265
Hello,
I am very slowly working on the NHW Project.I recently made a speed
comparison with x265 and wanted to share it with you.
On my processor Intel Core i5-6400, in average the NHW encoder (totally
unoptimized) is x10 times faster to encode than x265 (png decoding time
removed), in average 30ms vs 300ms for a 512x512 24bit color image, and in
average the NHW decoder (totally unoptimized) is

XiphQT / Theora Questions
Hello, I hope this is not an inappropriate list for this.
This is the list suggested by http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/
I use Linux exclusively at the moment and do not plan on buying a Mac,
but I am working on a CMS including html5 media support.
Patent licensing costs forbid decoding proprietary video formats on the
server for transcode into Ogg Theora so I am looking for a way that non

Here is a petition against YouTube, this is requesting YouTube uses

Decoding Theora: Number of frames?
Hi all
I'm currently writing a decoder for Ogg Theora videos.
Since I'd like to show the progress of the video, I need to know how to
read the current (with granulepos?) and total number of frames from the
Theora header.
I didn't find an appropriate field in the header specifications for the
total number.
Thanks for helping me out with this.

MMX patch to speed up Theora decoding
Hi,
Attached is a patch against 1.0alpha7 to speed up Theora decoding. It
is about 15~20% faster in my test. It consists of following things:
* MMX loop filter based on Rudolf Marek's patch in

[theora] loss detection/resilience
Hi,
I am using theora codec to stream video.
Sometimes I am getting (due network actions- packet loss / delay) a
distortion in the video image degrading its quality and I think it is
something related to the video slices / chunks (dropped or disordered) of
the entire frame.
Are there plans for slicing and loss detection/resilience built-in theora
codec?
Will theora codec have a similar approach

Using decoding vorebis from a Vorbis / Theora Video
I am trying to write a media player in c# which will be able to play .ogg
video files which contain Theora video and Vorbis audio streams.
Currently I am using LibOgg and LibTheora (via a SWIG generated wrapper).
This currently is able to decode the video and output it to the screen. I
would like to use LibVorbis to decode the audio stream. Looking at the
documentation it looks like I have to use

Video Comparison
Hey all,
I have followed a thread on golem.de, which was about an article regarding mozillas reasons, not to include h264 and to prefere theora instead.
In the forum there was much talking about a lot of nonsens (as usual). But there is still a huge and loud number of people believing that theora has a significant worse quality compared to h264. Most test material I found does not focus real

Current state of theora & Windows port?
Hello everyone,
I'm developing software for a marketing company which creates multimedia
presentations. We're currently using proprietary Windows software, but
are looking for a royalty-free cross-platform solution. It's important
that the solution is royalty- and patent-free because the presentations
are copied and given out in large quantities for free (as in beer ;-)
