Engel curve
Hi, has anybody an example of an Engel curve analysis in R or does there exist a package to estimate and plot Engel curves from expenditure / income data in R? Thanks a million for your hints, Werner

Quantile regression: Discrepencies Between optimizer and rq()
Hello Everyone, I'm currently learning about quantile regressions. I've been using an optimizer to compare with the rq() command for quantile regression. When I run the code, the results show that my coefficients are consistent with rq(), but the intercept term can vary by a lot. I don't think my optimizer code is wrong and suspects it has something to do with the starting

TEQL: 2 Mbit eth1 + 2Mbit eth2 = 1Mbit teql0
Hi there, I have two ethernet connections of 2Mbit/s each and I''m trying to add them together to one 4Mbit/s connection but I cannot get more than approximate 1Mbit/s! My setup: I have a LAN (10.2.18.0/24), connected to a larger network (10.0.0.0/8) by two WAN-connections with 2Mbit/s each. On each end I have a Linux router. I first setup the routers to use TEQL with one of the

two interfaces - borrowing bandwidth...
Hello... I have one 2Mbit WAN interfaces and two vlan LAN interfaces - vlan2 and vlan3. I''d like to limit bandwidth something like this: rate 1Mbit ceil 2Mbit for vlan2 and rate 1Mbit ceil 2Mbit for vlan3 with possibility to borrow bandwidth between vlan2 and vlan3. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Is it possible to do in any way? regards, -- Michal

icecast performance on many concurrent low-bitrate streams
Hi all, I'm running an Icecast-2.2 server with at peak times some 50 sources and 500 concurrent listeners all using low-bitrate 16kpbs streams. I'm experiencing some connection losses at these peak times ("Client connection died" message in error.log). The machine running Icecast has a 100Mbit connection to the internet. It is a Celeron 2.4Ghz machine with 1Gbyte of main

Public kudos to Timo
I'm sitting here working away on various unrelated projects and watching patch after patch after patch flow in from Timo to fix all sorts of problems people are reporting. A coding madman on fire. Thanks Timo, you rock. I appreciate the time you spend on this software, I'm sure everyone else does as well. :) -te -- Troy Engel | Systems Engineer Fluid, Inc | http://www.fluid.com

Remove stale DRS replication partner
Hi James, thanks a lot for your hint. However, I seem to be unable to find it there. Can you please be a little more specific? I tried to check the replication topology, but no success. Thanks a lot! package quantreg behaviour in weights in function rq,
Dear all, I am having v.4.36 of Quantreg package and I noticed strange behaviour when weights were added. Could anyone please explain me what if the results are really strange or the behavioiur is normal. As an example I am using dataset Engel from the package and my own weights. x<-engel[1:50,1] y<-engel[1:50,2] w<-c(0.00123, 0.00050, 0.00126, 0.00183, 0.00036, 0.00100, 0.00122,

RHN-like system for CentOS?
Team, Is anyone aware of a Red Hat Network alike system of server package update status that could be adapted for CentOS3? I'm not interested in the complete management aspect (channels, scheduling remote updates, etc) but merely the ability to see your list of systems and determine which are out of date with XXX packages. If you happen to manage a large-ish number of RHES3 systems, you

A new employee started today, when logging into his new mailbox this morning during a walk-through I got a nasty server error response in Thunderbird - something I never see, DC runs smooth as butter for us. Checking the server log I see this: == snip == dovecot: Jul 09 09:38:54 Error: IMAP(xxxxxxx): Maildir /home/x/xxxxxxx/Maildir sync: UIDVALIDITY changed (1183406107 -> 1183999134)

RODC and LDAP via Simple Authentication fails
Dear all, setting up a DMZ environment I was thinking to use an RODC there for user authentication. One of the application in the DMZ needs to access the directory via LDAP. When I tried to connect to the RODC using LDAP with simple bind, I always received the following error ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)         additional info: 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C0903A9, comment:

Looking for server recommendations
We're going to replace an older Solaris7/Netbackup/TapeRobot server with a new Centos box using backup-to-disk-to-tape (probably using Arkeia). The specs are up in the air, but generally: - CentOS/RHEL friendly (3Ware SATA? SCSI?) - 2U/3U/4U-ish form factor - hotswap RAID5 - dual PS, hotswap a plus - USB2.0 port(s) (*) To give you an idea of where I'm starting to look, take a gander at

Maildir, INDEX, and folders
I'm reading the wiki et el. regarding indexes, but can't come up with a coherent answer to the setup and what will happen. I want to take the indexes and move them off of NFS (~/Maildir) and place in /var/spool/dovecot/indexes, but not have to hand create everything (user homes, mail folders) So, I create a parent folder /var/spool/dovecot/indexes that has the appropriate permissions

printing font scale issues
I'm using Wine-20010510 to run Quickbooks. Printing seems to work okay, as long as I use the "default" forms. When I try to modify the defaults, by changing the fonts on parts of forms, the printed result is that the font is tiny. For example, 18-pt Helvetica looks printed out like 4-point Helvetica (or maybe even smaller!) Is there something in the configuration that I
