ITheoraEncodeSettings C# interop
My apologies if this is considered somewhat off-topic but I presume that
this information may be may also be of use to others using these
filters.
Is there someone with a better understanding of COM than I have who can
tell me where I'm going wrong with the following C# interface
definition?
I can set and recover a quality setting using this interface but not the
isUsingQualityMode flag. Not

R.DLL mapping by P/Invoke
After a long processing, I was able to create a version of a small C# class
that was able to emulate the rproxy by P/Invoke. This is mostly to find a
workaround a performance problem of the StatConnector.
It's almost work but ... I have strange memory exception when I call the
print function. The variable seems to not survive from one call to the
other.
As there is no debug symbol for

Using R.dll in .NET IPC
Hi - I wrapped R.dll up using somebody code online (see below). I am comparing R on .NET IPC with R(D)COM.
I got it all working. Except, I realize that in my client code of the IPC remoting, if I call 'plot' function in R via EvaluateNoReturn, I don't seem to see any results on the R plot window (although the window pops up). Is there anything to do with the code of R.dll wrapper

further debugging of my ogg/theora decoder
Hi,
I am continuing to try to debug my ogg/theora decoder.
The issue seems to be that not enough packets are being pulled from the
bitstream, here is some sample output from my player with some debugging
comments put in:
(playback began at first frame, this is from the middle of the clip)
get page at 1765027
got packet
frame++, skip is 0
frame decoded
page processed, kframe=414 : offs=442

Questions about encoder parameters.
I have almost finished integration of Theora into our videoconferencing
program. Since a videoconferencing program is realtime, it is UDP-based
and wraps the Theora stream in RTP (More on that later). The problem
here is that most examples I could find, wraps the theora stream in ogg,
and used over tcp or files. I send over UDP and clients need to be able
to start in the middle of the stream.

OGGZ Seeking in Theora
Dear all
I'm aware that there have been several discussions about the seeking
issue and I'm sorry to bring this up again.
To solve the problem with Inter-Frame garbage, a seek to the previous
keyframe has to be made. The keyframe number should be extracted from
the granulepos of the frame where we want to seek to. I hope I
understood the theory - unfortunately a few questions have

ogg and keyframes
Hi,
When doing a live ogg+theora stream on our server we ran into the
following problem: When a client connects we send out the theora header
pages followed by the actual live stream pages. The problem is that the
first ogg data page does not have the right page number (2), which
causes libogg to not want to decode the first _packet_ of that page.
Since that first packet happens to contain the

question about ogg mapping
Question: is it permissible to put more than one frame packet into a page? At 30 fps, Ogg page overhead is on the order of 8 - 10 kbits/sec. At low datarates, this is going to be unacceptable.
If I shove a few frames into a page, how does this affect the granulepos stuff?

oggz reading & seeking
??????? I've rewritten my theora player using liboggz. I've stumbled upon a few issues though. First of all liboggz exposes oggz_read and oggz_run, but how can i read only sound data, or only video data using liboggz, say something like this: oggz_read_sound(1024), oggz_read_video(1024).
? ? ? ?? Second of all i tried using liboggz's seek function. Immediately after the seek i get some

Keyframes
Hi all,
First of all a big thank you for your work.
I would like to know what is (could be) the best (optimal in a psnr
and/or subjectivity sense) maximum distance between keyframes
or is theora using a good heuristic change scene detection mecanism?
Does it really matter to theora as with mpeg4 part2/10?
Thank you and keep up the good work

Live Streams
Hello, i am member of red5 project. I am studying ways to integrate your
codec into red5 and in a near future inside Flash Player.
I want to figure some things about Theora codec.
-> Is theora proper for live streams (i.e live transcondig webcam)?
What is latency for encoding process?
-> Is the format tolerant to lost frames?
Thanks for the moment.

Keyframe seeking in Ogg and spec
Folks have noticed that the documentation is semi-silent about how to
properly encode the granule position and interleave synchronization of
keyframe-based video. The primary reasons for this:
a) we at Xiph hadn't had to do it yet
b) there are several easy possibilities, and the longer we had to
think about it before mandating One True Spec, the better that spec
would likely be.

theora_info struct question
Hi
I'm evaluating Theora for a video communication system and would like some
info as to what the following struct members (from the theora_info structure)
do and what values one should pass to them:
If there is some documentation somewhere that I've missed, please direct me to
it.

Patch that fixes distortions during static scenes
Here is a patch that fixes distortions that appear during scenes with no
motion. Tbe problem was that UpdateFrame() was not being called when a
MotionScore of 0 was computed. Since UpdateFrame() was not called the buffer
returned by theora_encode_packetout() would be the same buffer that was output
for the last frame that had a non-zero MotionScore. This is obviously incorrect
behavior. I've

Fwd: [show-in-a-box] Re: Ogg
Hello,
Does anyone know the answer to this question below?
(Note... they're calling the Theora codec "Ogg" below. I know
technically it's not correct... but that's what some are calling it.)

Simple decoder (keyframe only) implementation ?
Hello everybody !
I am working on a php class to enable, on the server-side, to extract useful data from Ogg theora videos. http://opensource.grisambre.net/ogg .
I need to have it extract a thumbnail picture from a video (much like dailymotion or youtube). Right now, I am doing it using the ffmpeg-php extension (for picture extraction only), but the problem is that this module is available on

Theora file size
Hi
I was surprised with size of Theora files and thought
of feedback.
Following 1minute duration Theora and Xvid files were
made from a y4m file. The resolution is 1280x720:
1. Xvid 17MB
2. Ogg/Theora Q7 31MB
3. Ogg/Theora Q8 38MB
4. Ogg/Theora Q9 49MB
5. Ogg/Theora Q10 61MB
The Xvid file was made using mencoder by 2 passes with

ogg + theora + seeking
Hi all,
I'm actually learning how to use ogg, theora and vorbis. My idea is to create
a small program running, that is able to concatenate ogg video+audio files.
However I have some small questions. Here I will start with the first one:
I read the following for seeking in ogg for a theora key-frame:

Skipping Frames
Hi everyone!
I'm currently trying to use the theora decoder on PPC.
Everything is working perfect now, but I have a problem: I need to skip the
decoding of some frames (drop frames) when the device is not powerful enough
to decode them all in real time (which in PPC is a frequent issue).
Right now, I'm skipping the call to theora_decode_YUVout and the yuv to
rgb procedure. That gives me
