Theora and WeBM support in Firefox and Opera
I did some tests:
### Theora support in Firefox 3.7a (missnamed as "Minefield"):
Same as since 3.5 (plays, no controls if Javascript off, no thorough
retest of buffering issues).

Firefox: 3.6 is out. What's new? I don't know (see :-( below)
Trying to play videos:

4:2:2 too, not sure about the 322x242 "not divisible by 16" - there is

Of myself spreading it? Or the petition.
Hi Chris, I remember you from hacks.mozilla (although I am an Opera
supporter). The webmaster of Xiph told me to tell the members and readers
about the petition, sadly it has only reached few because I cannot create
a post about it.

That is interesting news. I always go on about mpeg4 and h264 as if
they are the ideal, wheras in an ideal world something like ogg theora

Opera proposed Theora for native video playback in browsers
Hi ,
I see this news in Opera website :
http://my.opera.com/haavard/blog/2007/03/05/1
I think this is a good news for Theora Team and also a greater news if video
tag becomes true.
This extract of the website is incredible :
'One thing to keep in mind that adding native support for Theora in Opera
would only add about 300K to Opera's overall size! And I am sure that could

Opera 7
Hi guys,
I was just surprised to see that the Opera 7 Installer (without Java) runs
perfectly and installs Op7. After that I was even more surprised to see that
also Opera itself starts without any modifications needed as wine opera.exe.
But surfing a little around I found some problems, for which perhaps anyone
here has a solution?
- sadly it crashes every now and then. I suspect something

Who's developing mwEmbed?
Recently I found out about mwEmbed[1] which seems to me to be a great tool to
embed theora videos with a fallback mechanism in place and a really smooth
user experience.
Since I am testing the tool for use in my blog and other websites at the
moment I would like to know who is actually developing that tool and where to
report bugs. (e.g. it doesn't work yet in Opera 10.50 which is a

Opera browser on CentOS
Is anyone running the Opera browser on Centos 7 or 6? While not available in a yum-repository, it seems to be available as a snap-package. Not familiar with those yet but curious if the browser is worthwhile to run. I have generally found Firefox less useful/compatible than Chromium but would also like alternatives, particularly since Opera defaults to a VPN-connection.

insert HTML <select> value into a textarea - Works in IE6, not in FireFox or Opera
I have a simple form at http://mstramba.com/fb5.html
It''s just a <select> and a textarea.
The idea is to be able to either type into a text area directly or
choose from a list of saved words in the select box. When a new choice
is made from the select, it automatically gets inserted into the text
area.
This code DOES work in I.E6 (on my machine (XP pro), but doesn''t

Theora promotion material
Hi all,
A while back I wrote in about wanting a theora promotion video. Having a
few lazy minutes left in the day, I decided to do some coding to create
a small movie. However, I encountered two problems:
- The artwork completely &$@(%sses, but then again I'm no artist.
- How do you actually embed the movie into a SVG file? Otherwise I'd go
for HTML but a working example would be

No internet connection with Opera and Safari
I'm using Debian 4.0r3 and Wine 0.9.59
I installed Opera and Safari successfully and they run but they cannot connect to the internet.
I'm wondering if this has to do with the fact that I use an ethernet modem ? Is there something I need to configure ?
How could I solve this ?

Dear developers,
[ Please CC me as I'm not subscribed to this list. ]

Called as 'client_send_line(client "+OK dovecot");'.
