Based on all the tests shown here: http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/unixclients.html#adssdm Things are working as expected. Most machines and users are working as expected. I do have some Windows machines on another subnet, NOT joined to the domain that are giving me grief. Going to

Winbind problem - 3.0.20a and NT4 domain
All - We are using 3.0.20a on SLES 9 and are trying to configure a member server for our NT4 domain. The wbinfo commands (-u and -g) show correct information. The getent commands (passwd and group) work fine also. If Samba is running without winbind, I can see the shares in the config file (net view \\xxxxxxxx) from a PC. With winbind running I get an error message about the computer name

Hi, I am having problems configuring my Centos 4 server as an ADS domain member of our 2003 AD. I've followed the instructions on samba.org and did quite a bit of Google'ing and haven't found an answer to the problems. Basically I used the configuration illustrated in this section of the howto, and of course a number of other suggestions I've found along the way:

Hello, I was using version 3.0.14 and upgraded to 3.0.20a. I did not change my config, however, I am seeing some serious problems now, and I am not sure what to do about it. I noticed there were a large number of changes between these two versions. I looked at the changes briefly, but there are just so many. This samba server is a domain memmber, on an ADS domain with a win 2003 enterprise

trouble joining win xp machines to samba with ldap backend DC
Greetings, I would like some help figuring this out. I really don't know what to do anymore. whenever I try to join an XP machine to the domain it comes up that username or password is not correct. However I know that the credentials are correct, but when I check the logs of that specific machine, this comes up: [2010/09/24 11:42:38, 5] auth/auth_util.c:make_user_info_map(161)

Samba clients losing domain membership
Hello, we are currently in the process of migrating Windows machines to Ubuntu 10.04. For now, these machines act as samba clients in a Windows domain (which is controlled also by a samba PDC), and are itself sharing files via SMB/CIFS. The clients are - from time to time and with no apparent reason - losing their domain membership. When this happens, access to shares on the PDC still seems to
