External SATA drive enclosures + ZFS?
Hi all,
Space is starting to get a bit tight here, so I''m looking at adding
a couple of TB to my home server. I''m considering external USB or
FireWire attached drive enclosures. Cost is a real issue, but I also
want the data to be managed by ZFS--so enclosures without a JBOD option
have been disgarded (i.e., I don''t want to use any internal HW RAID
controllers).

How widely spread is this file format?
I just have a general question about this file format. How many music players out on the market support this format? I know Winamp does but does iPod, DellDJ, or any other portable devices support this format? Just curious how widely accepted this format is for a project I might have.
Thanks!

Running Songbird in Wine.
I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.04 and have installed Songbird for windows. When I connect my archos mp3 player, Ubuntu finds it right away but Songbird can't see it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Constellation of open source around Icecast
I hope this isn't too far off topic. But, it seems like the developers
are the folks to talk to for what I want.
I run an Internet radio station and I am also a rather experienced
developer and own a web hosting company. I don't have the resources to
be actively involved in development at the moment. But, I will help out
in other ways and have some good channels to promote Icecast and

libata and PMP (Port Multiplier) support in CentOS
I'm looking at buying a NORCO DS-1220 and it comes with a NORCO 4618
PCI-X card (4 port eSATA, with a port multiplier on the card or the
chassis). I've been trying to pin down whether or not CentOS will see
all 12 drives, and I haven't seen anything that is definitive. I see
that the kernel module sata_sil24 supports the SiI3124 chip on the NORCO
4618 card, but I haven't found

ISDN (point to point) questions
Hello;
we are looking to replace our current PBX with a *-box; it is
connected to ONE ppp isdn connection that is terminated by the NC. We
got on this box 4 msn's configured.
currently we are working with pstn fxo's behind the PBX; it works but
we can't use the CSID information behind it. We want to migrate and
keep the MSN's to decide routing in combination with the CID.

[LLVMdev] Seg faulting on vector ops
Hola LLVMers,
I'm looking to make use of the vectorization primitives in the Intel
chip with the code we generate from LLVM and so I've started
experimenting with it. What is the state of the machine code generated
for vectors? In my tinkering, I seem to be getting some wonky machine
instructions, but I'm most likely just doing something wrong and I'm
hoping you can set me in

Simplest OS possible?
What is the simplest OS I can install in Xen, preferably Linux based, and
don''t tell me MS-DOS :). I have installed a minimal version of Fedora, but I
want something that is even less cluttered.
I have looked at Minix, but it is not fully supported. I need something
small, lightweight (doesn''t have to be multi-threaded or anything), that
will run small C and Assembler programs

[OT-ish] WebM/Ogg VP8 streaming
Hi all,
Sorry for the VP8 question on the Theora list, but I think all the
relevant people are here :)
I'm using Icecast to distribute some Ogg Theora streams at the moment
with a view to adding VP8 along side these in future. Ideally I'd just
use Ogg VP8+Vorbis, I know there is a mapping for this already but how
much support from the browsers can I expect for this configuration?

[LLVMdev] Seg faulting on vector ops
Hrm. This problem shouldn't be target specific. I am pretty sure
prologue / epilogue inserter aligns stack correctly if there are
stack objects with greater than default stack alignment requirement.
Seems to be the initial alloca() instruction should specify 16 byte
alignment?

R-question
Hello Colleagues,
I programmed in SAS for 3 years and would like to switch to a not so costly
software product.
Hence I started to evaluate R, and my first test look promising.
However I have some question:
1. Is it possible to query R files by SQL internally on data frames (not on
a database) and how is the syntax (I have the RODBC package installed).
I would like to extract year, Quarter,

Any experience with eSATA and port multiplier...?
Hey,
just bought an eSATA/USB dual drive docking station and my CentOS 5 can only see one drive at a time...
Any one knows if there are specific parameters to set somewhere?
Or do I need a more recent kernel (like upgrading to CentOS 6?)
The docking is a Sharkoon Quickport Duo v2 + 2 drives + 1 eSATA cable...
