There was recently a question on the R-help list about the eee pc. I had a related question about the XO laptop from OLPC (laptop.org). Has anyone looked at the development environment sufficiently to determine if it would be possible to create an executable image for R? The laptop itself only supports Python, Javascript, etc. but it is running a real Linux operating system.

I'm playing the "Honey" movie (both Honey-small and Honey-large) and I notice significant slowdown during periods of lots of motion (when the camera shakes, when the first man hops into bed, when people turn around and approach the camera, etc.). The audio plays smoothly all the time but when there is a lot of motion, the picture freezes and resumes when there's less motion.

Hi, people! Because XO-1 has a little "disk" space, it will be nice if the location of drive_c can be moved to a SD card. Here in Uruguay, we do not have root permissions in our XO-1. We log in as user olpc an can change permissions only in some directories. And can create links to files but not hard links to directories. The SD card is mounted in /media/label_of_sd_card. I was reading recently that a modern CPU can execute 10 billion instructions per second, while a modern GPU can execute 1 trillion instructions per second. When I tried to view Basil's video streams yesterday, it worked with Firefox 3.5.x on both Linux and Windows, but failed with Chrome 3.0 on Windows XP.? XO CAN supply callerid NAME on a NI2 PRI connection. We have three of them and they work great. Hi, I have an odd problem where when a call is made to any landline phone the callerid number shows up on the caller id device with no problems. However when I call a cell phone from Sprint or Verizon it always shows up as unavaliable. I've tried multiple cell phones from each carrier. Though today I called a t-mobile phone and the callerid came through fine. Is this an * level problem
