converting YUV to RGB
Hello all,
I'd like to convert the theora yuv_buffer to RGB that I can render onto a
texture.
Googling around, there are a tone of different formulae to do so.
There is this (with lots of corrections and amendments further down the
page):

[PATCH] icecast video preview
Hi. Here it is my patch to put a video preview of a theora stream in
status.xsl.
I just added a:
<video-preview>1</video-preview>
parameters in icecast.xml.in that control the previewing function.
It encodes a png in $webroot/$mountname.tmp and then move it to
$webroot/$mountname.png
As for now it saves a frame every theora keyframe, which is probably
too heavy for the server but

example sources
Hello all,
Very new to Theora so apologies if this sounds elementary ;-)
I'm trying to integrate a simple theora video player in my engine.
All I need is simple load/unload and play/stop functionality.
I'd also like to be able to stream from disk or mem.
Other than the API reference I haven't found any example code,
e.g. the sources for theora_player_example. Are these available

compile error of libtheora example
hi all:
i downloaded libtheora1.0.tar.gz from xiph.org, and when i compile it,
such error message popped.
i tried to run player_example.c under /libtheora_1.0/examples/.
error message:

yuv2rgb
hi all,
i'm trying to code a tool to get some images from a ogg/theora file ....
so basically i need to get a frame and convert to rgb ... and here is my
question (sorry, i'm newbe here) ...
how to convert a yuv_buffer to a rgb matrix ?
i tryied diferent ways but my mistakes are bassically cause i don't
understant how yuv_buffer structure works ...
anybody can help? thanks a lot.

Trying to do windows encoding dll
Hi everybody, me again.
I'm trying to write my own VFW-like dll... It doesn't need to do much.
1.) compress a single frame and give it back to the host application
2.) host applications sends the frame
3.) client application receives frame
4.) client application tells the dll to decompress the data
So if I try to do this, something is going wrong...

Theroa Guess Confirmation
Hi there, is there any document giving a high-level overview of how to
use "libtheora"? As it stands, I'm scrounging through headers and
example code, and doing a whole lot of guessing. In the meantime,
could you either confirm or deny the following guesses?

Please help : Trying to fool Theora into doing what I want

Ekiga which uses TFRC as a congestion control mechanism to adapt the video
encoding rate according to the quality of the network experienced. My goal
was to use the open-source Theora codec for video transmission.

Newbie: How to rewind a videostream (long)
Hello, I'm new to this list, and pretty much also to the codec universe.
In a computer game I'm working on, there is an 3D TV-screen onto which I
project the frames of a movie. The movie is of course stored as theora, no
audio as it's not needed yet. I have it working so far, extracting a frame
and uploading it to the graphics card when the scene is drawn. The example

Hello, I am programmer working on a product which integrates Theora. I have
a question regarding the memory use on some of the internals of Theora. Is

problems understanding yuv_buffer format
hi folks!
once again i am trying to decode a yuv_buffer to a 24 bit RGB buffer.
last time nobody seemed willing to tell me how to do this, so i am
trying again.
i try to make my questions more simple. what i need to know is:
how many bytes are in each y, u, v array?
what for are these strides?
what exactly is a "plane" in a frame, and what does it do?
what i want to achieve is

Simple RGB->YUV Stuff...
I've spent the weekend or so trying to get my head around Theora and I'm
just not having any luck. First of all, I really don't have any interest
in immersing myself in video encoding--I just have one simple thing I'd
like to do--so I haven't spent any time reading about the theory or
specs or anything like that.

Getting only frame deltas?
Hi, first post on this list. I run a small game development company
specializing in casual Windows/Mac games.
We've been using Theora for video playback inside our engine for a while,
but we always run into performance issues. I've tracked them down to two
parts : YUV to RGB decoding (done via software) and uploading the new pixel
data to the video card as a texture.

segfault on amd64 with ffmpeg

I have this bug on Debian Lenny with compiled packages of last svn versions of
ffmpeg and libtheora. This seems to append only on the amd64 arch. Here is a
valgrind log :

yuv_buffer strides
Hi,
is there any place where the possible values for the strides in the
yuv_buffer structure is specified? or just in the source code? ;)
I could compress a video with, lets say, yuvbuf.y_stride =
yuvbuf.y_width, so the yuvbuf.y[0] really started in the start of the
y channel data. I watched the video in several players, and
everythings' ok. But, when programming the decompress process, the

Skipping Frames
Hi everyone!
I'm currently trying to use the theora decoder on PPC.
Everything is working perfect now, but I have a problem: I need to skip the
decoding of some frames (drop frames) when the device is not powerful enough
to decode them all in real time (which in PPC is a frequent issue).
Right now, I'm skipping the call to theora_decode_YUVout and the yuv to
rgb procedure. That gives me

Encoding paramaters...
I've got my encoder working now... and i put a proeprty page interface to
allow the user to set a few encoding paramters to start off with... but
changing the paramters doesn't seem to make barely any difference...
These are the defaults i'm using...
