Please help : Trying to fool Theora into doing what I want
I'm currently doing research and initial development for an app that requires a rather odd usage of some kind of movie decoding. I'm trying to find a codec that I can trick into doing what I want, and so long as I can fix a problem or two, Theora is looking promising. What I want to do goes something like this: 1) Encode a whole bunch of two frame movies. For each movie, the

Seek problem 2 - reinitialization of the decoder
Hi people, Next issue at hand here is after I have done a seek in a theora file. At this point, I have to reinitialize the decoder so the viewing can continue. Again, I have code that works most of the time, but, well... Just after the last file position seek, this code is run: while ((result = ogg_sync_pageout(&sync, &page)) == 0) bufferData(); while

[PATCH] icecast video preview
Hi. Here it is my patch to put a video preview of a theora stream in status.xsl. I just added a: <video-preview>1</video-preview> parameters in icecast.xml.in that control the previewing function. It encodes a png in $webroot/$mountname.tmp and then move it to $webroot/$mountname.png As for now it saves a frame every theora keyframe, which is probably too heavy for the server but

Cleaning app
Hello all, When I'm doing something like: yuv_buffer yuv; theora_decode_YUVout(&td,&yuv); I'm guessing a bunch of stuff gets newed/malloced for yuv.y, yuv.u, and yuv.u. Who is responsible for deleting/freeing that stuff? Cheers, Kos.

ogg and keyframes
Hi, When doing a live ogg+theora stream on our server we ran into the following problem: When a client connects we send out the theora header pages followed by the actual live stream pages. The problem is that the first ogg data page does not have the right page number (2), which causes libogg to not want to decode the first _packet_ of that page. Since that first packet happens to contain the

Getting only frame deltas?
Hi, first post on this list. I run a small game development company specializing in casual Windows/Mac games. We've been using Theora for video playback inside our engine for a while, but we always run into performance issues. I've tracked them down to two parts : YUV to RGB decoding (done via software) and uploading the new pixel data to the video card as a texture. For the YUV to RGB

ogg + theora + seeking
Hi all, I'm actually learning how to use ogg, theora and vorbis. My idea is to create a small program running, that is able to concatenate ogg video+audio files. However I have some small questions. Here I will start with the first one: I read the following for seeking in ogg for a theora key-frame: ---- snipp (http://www.xiph.org/ogg/doc/ogg-multiplex.html) ---- [...]The third point

Theora integration question
Hello, I am programmer working on a product which integrates Theora. I have a question regarding the memory use on some of the internals of Theora. Is this the right forum for this question, and if not, does anyone know where an appropriate place to ask is? Thanks Sam -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... compile error of libtheora example
hi all: i downloaded libtheora1.0.tar.gz from xiph.org, and when i compile it, such error message popped. i tried to run player_example.c under /libtheora_1.0/examples/. error message: ivysummer at ivysummer-desktop:~/??/libtheora-1.0/examples$ gcc -o player player_example.c /tmp/ccpyle3c.o: In function `buffer_data': player_example.c:(.text+0x15): undefined reference to

theora problems
Hi, I've been trying to use libtheora-experimental (libtheoraenc and libtheoradec) to encode a webcam feed in real-time, to be decoded also in realtime by a second party via XXX-IP, with - unfortunately - not so good results. I'm using custom written functions to convert from RGB8 to YUV420 and back and, although not much processor-efficient, they do what they're supposed to

libtheora 1.0 beta3 supports multithread encoder?
Hi , I see in the libtheora 1.0 beta3 changelog that included new libtheoradec and libtheoraenc libraries supporting the new API from theora-exp , that it means that have multithread encoder? _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Trying to do windows encoding dll
Hi everybody, me again. I'm trying to write my own VFW-like dll... It doesn't need to do much. 1.) compress a single frame and give it back to the host application 2.) host applications sends the frame 3.) client application receives frame 4.) client application tells the dll to decompress the data So if I try to do this, something is going wrong... Perhaps someone could have a look at my

further debugging of my ogg/theora decoder
Hi, I am continuing to try to debug my ogg/theora decoder. The issue seems to be that not enough packets are being pulled from the bitstream, here is some sample output from my player with some debugging comments put in: (playback began at first frame, this is from the middle of the clip) get page at 1765027 got packet frame++, skip is 0 frame decoded page processed, kframe=414 : offs=442 get

OGGZ Seeking in Theora
Dear all I'm aware that there have been several discussions about the seeking issue and I'm sorry to bring this up again. To solve the problem with Inter-Frame garbage, a seek to the previous keyframe has to be made. The keyframe number should be extracted from the granulepos of the frame where we want to seek to. I hope I understood the theory - unfortunately a few questions have

Theora encoder directshow Filter configuration
Hi, I'am using the Xiph Theora Encoder directshow Filter in a csharp application. It works fine but I would like to modify the configuration, like the quality settings. I would like to know if there is a possibility to configure it programmatically without using the propertyPage dialog. Thanks a lot for your help Mathieu -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

Questions about encoder parameters.
I have almost finished integration of Theora into our videoconferencing program. Since a videoconferencing program is realtime, it is UDP-based and wraps the Theora stream in RTP (More on that later). The problem here is that most examples I could find, wraps the theora stream in ogg, and used over tcp or files. I send over UDP and clients need to be able to start in the middle of the stream.

ITheoraEncodeSettings C# interop
My apologies if this is considered somewhat off-topic but I presume that this information may be may also be of use to others using these filters. Is there someone with a better understanding of COM than I have who can tell me where I'm going wrong with the following C# interface definition? I can set and recover a quality setting using this interface but not the isUsingQualityMode flag. Not
