relaying http://mirror.fluendo.com:8800/
Hi all,
Thanks to Fluendo test stream at http://mirror.fluendo.com:8800/,
I have done some quick hacks on my streaming server JRoar
(http://www.jcraft.com/jroar/) and, now it can relay OggTheora streams.
If you are interested in it, you can try

RELEASE: Flumotion 0.5.2 'Can Tomas'
This mail announces the release of Flumotion 0.5.2 'Can Tomas'.
Flumotion is a GPL streaming media server written in Python. It is distributed
and component-based: every step in the streaming process (production,
conversion, consumption) can be run inside a separate process on separate
machines.
Flumotion uses Twisted and GStreamer. Twisted enables the high-level
functionality,

Consistency regarding compiled Cortado 0.6.0 source and the official binary
(I previously sent this message (minus some slight edits) to theora-dev at xiph dot org, but it did not seem to show up in the archives. I do not know if one has to be subscribed in order to post messages.)
Among other things, this message concerns the compilation of the downloaded source code for version 0.6.0 of the Cortado Java applet. (the source was probably from a file that was originally

spare bits in the theora keyframe header
Monty,
Derf and I were discussing some theora bitstream improvements. He was
curious about the spare bits in the keyframe header. There's a keyframe
type bit which is always DCT_KEY_FRAME aka '0' and two spare bits.
You took out a lot of similar extra bits in the VP3 code. Do you
remember anything about the motivation for leaving this one in? Given
the constant, were there plans

Licenses GPL and LGPL
Hello,
I am new to Cortado and I am very interested in playing video in some of my Java applets using the Theora decoder. I would like to write a LGPL library to use the decoders in Processing (see processing.org).
I prefer LGPL over GPL because it allows a wider usage of the library. The core libraries of Processing are released under LGPL as well.
I would like to use com.fluendo.plugin and

Theora packets with granulepos of -1
Hello,
I'm just totally confused. In my theora streams encoded using ffmpeg2theora (but also when using my own encoder) I have packets with a granulepos of -1 so I can't identify the packet during a seeking operation correctly. I can also see those strange value when I just print the packet granulepos before sending it to the Theora decoder.
I know why there are PAGES with granularpos of

Liboggplay seeking artifacts
Is anyone working on liboggplay, and if so, is there any plan to support
keyframe-based seeking? I found this, but seems to me that the feature ought
to be part of liboggplay:
http://pearce.org.nz/2009/05/video-seeking-improvements.html
Is there a more appropriate list to post to regarding liboggplay?

Snipping the beginning off Theora files
Hello all,
I'm sure that this must have been answered by someone in the past, but I
couldn't find it.
I have downloaded the Theora files of the 6uadec Gnome conference from:
http://stream.fluendo.com/archive/6uadec/
While it is great that they have them available, most of them seem to
have a lot of video of empty room before the speaker starts (sometimes
20 minutes or so). I am wanting

First public release of Flumotion Streaming Media Server
Hey everyone,
we finally bit the bullet and threw out our firstborn for public
consumption. For those not yet in the know, Flumotion is a streaming
media server based on GStreamer and Twisted under development by
Fluendo.
This release gives users access to the basic features of the server and
demonstrates its distributed capabilities. We will follow up with a
release within a couple of weeks to

Processing library based on Cortado
Hi,
I wrote a Processing.org library based on Cortado. Maybe the Cortado developers are interested in it.
At the end of November I sent a question to this list asking about the licensing of Cortado and its libraries (see http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/theora-dev/2009-November/004015.html). As I wanted to create a LGPL library, I rewrote the package com.fluendo.utils, I don't use

[Newbie Q] Relay to an Icecast server apparently not relaying?
The main stream is going to a Shoutcast server via Winamp. Works fine. A
Relay stream goes to Live365. Works fine.
I set up a Relay under SAM to point to the Icecast server running on another
box on the network. In SAMs Realy section it tells me that it's connected -
and Icecast seems to be telling me the same thing. Obviously I'm missing
something in the setup of IceCast - I think?

We have published two papers which build upon the LLVM

How to fix broken ogg/theora files
Hi there,
I haven't been on this list until now, so I wasn't aware of this problem until last night ;-) - sorry for that.
I am working on a patch for oggCut for that issue (looks good actually but I would like to do some testing befor I can release a patch.)
Normal players are not effected by the page time misordering, so I took this issue as "minor". The reason for the

Fix a bug that causes the encoder to spend way to many bits on keyframes
Here is a fix that prevents the encoder from spending too many bits on
keyframes. The main problem is that the old code computes the target keyframe
bitrate incorrectly. This causes the code that computes the Q for the frame to
think that it has tons of bits to spend. It selects a high Q value for the
keyframe. Since so many bits were spend on the keyframe the the inter-frames
have to use a much

Question about updated block list history in the encoder
I'm new to the list so please excuse me if this has already been
rehashed before. There seems to be something very odd about how the
PP_INSTANCE::PrevFragments array is handled during keyframes. I'm not a
video codec expert so I'm not entirely sure what the reason for keeping
a history of blocks updated in the last few previous interframes and
adding them to the blocks to be

Installation of R-1.4.1 on Solaris 2.7
I am trying to install R-1.4.1 on the Solaris 2.7 OS by compiling the
source code. Unfortunately, I obtain a fatal error during make
(apparently while using gcc to compile arithmetic.c). The configure
command seemed to work acceptably (end of output follows).

R is now configured for sparc-sun-solaris2.7
