mingw compiling problem for libogg
(i hope this is correct m.list) Hi, there is a small compiling problem for mingw when compiling on libogg.. in include/ogg/os_types.h : ogg_int64_t, ogg_int32_t, etc are defined correctly on cygwin and MSVC/Borland but not on mingw... i have attached a patch that will fix this problem (i hope it attaches correctly) thx, Nehal --- os_types.h.old Fri Jul 19 02:25:52 2002 +++ os_types.h Tue

Encoding paramaters...
I've got my encoder working now... and i put a proeprty page interface to allow the user to set a few encoding paramters to start off with... but changing the paramters doesn't seem to make barely any difference... These are the defaults i'm using... mTheoraInfo.target_bitrate=400000; mTheoraInfo.quality=30; mTheoraInfo.dropframes_p=0; mTheoraInfo.quick_p=1;

Theora decode problem
I am trying to write a sample app that uses Theora for encoding/decoding a network video stream. Unfortunately, I keep running into this error: Run-Time Check Failure #3 - The variable 'MVect' is being used without being defined. It always happens on decryption, line 467 in decode.c. The issue is that CodingMethod is equal to 5 (CODE_GOLDENFRAME), which doesn't initialize the

uninitialised theora_info values
Hi, Ralph recently checked in a version of theora/tests/noop.c that uses the new API. Part of the reason for this test is to check for memory leaks in the library's constructors and destructors. You can run the test suite under valgrind by configuring with --enable-valgrind-testing. The test passes, but gives output like: make[1]: Entering directory

Theora mcomp tuning...
Hi there. This patch changes the block selection to quantify error based on the sum of the squared differences of the pixel values rather than the sum of the absolute differences, the former conventionally and statistically seeming like the preferable thing to do. The patch also const'ifies some parameters (which doesn't affect code quality on recent GCCs but might help on older/ other

Re: libogg2 branch->trunk (deadline: 5/30)
I have no objection to the API in itself, but could the API and structure only use the ogg fundamental types (like ogg_int32_t) or even better the C99 official types (like int32_t) because at the moment there is a real mix of types used for the occurences of serialno (long, int, ogg_uint32_t), beos, eos, ... Trying to do windows encoding dll
Hi everybody, me again. I'm trying to write my own VFW-like dll... It doesn't need to do much. 1.) compress a single frame and give it back to the host application 2.) host applications sends the frame 3.) client application receives frame 4.) client application tells the dll to decompress the data So if I try to do this, something is going wrong... Perhaps someone could have a look at my

V4L + Theora small app...
Hi all. I post a small app I made that create 2 clips using a V4L device. I would like to get every tips you think it's useful... Some notes: - I make 2 clips because in our project we create series of clips and it's important to check that the all the resources ( memory, descriptors, etc. ) are freed correctly and to reuse all the resources that can be reused - the clips are not well

Theora 1.1 rate controller
Hello everyone, I'm currently developing an adaptive videoconferencing application based on Ekiga which uses TFRC as a congestion control mechanism to adapt the video encoding rate according to the quality of the network experienced. My goal was to use the open-source Theora codec for video transmission. Unfortunately, it seemed that Theora 1.0 did not properly implement any correct CBR mode.

PATCH - mingw compatibility for 9/13/00 build.
I am a mingw coder and I needed to make the following changes to the CVS source from 9/13/00 to get a build: os_types.h L36C16 reads had to change "unsigned _G_int32_t" to "_G_uint32_t" to resolve the compile error: ..\include\vorbis\os_types.h:36:parse error before 'ogg_uint32_t' ..\include\vorbis\os_types.h:36:warning:data definition has no type or storage class

Encoding - CPU usage ...
Hi all. I would really like to use Theora for the commercial product I work on... It's a Linux based DVR. Actually we use ffmpeg to produce MPeg4 short clips from 4 BNC channels in CIF resolution. I made a small module for our project that uses Theora... but I see that it gets a lot of CPU :( So I'm here to ask for any kind tips to reduce the CPU usage. - Hardware... do you think there

making ices under Mac OS X
After I got the libshout problem taken care of, I tried installing installing ices. It gave the following error: metadata.c:55: error: 'fd_set' undeclared (first use in this function) I searched the internet for fd_set and found that select uses it, which needs sys/time.h, which wasn't included in metadata.c, so I added #include <sys/time.h> with the other includes, and it seems

In the console i typed ./configure make but there is a lot of error while making. here is the errors $ ./configure checking for a BSD-compatible install... /bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... gawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking whether to enable maintainer-specific

various patches from Mandrakelinux package
I was looking at the libvorbis 1.0 SRPM of Mandrakelinux, and it contained some patches which are not included in vorbis 1.1 svn. I'm attaching these patches here, because it could maybe be interesting to include these upstream. (libvorbis-1.1-aliasing.patch is actually a rediffed patch of Mandrakesoft's one for 1.0 against 1.1 svn). The author of these patches is Gwenole Beachesne,

Macintosh support (again)
In order to compile the latest Vorbis library on the Macintosh, the change appended to this message needs to be made to os_types.h.in. Then, anyone who wants to actually build it must first copy os_types.h.in to os_types.h by hand, since MacOS does not include a command line and thus cannot run configure. It really bugs me that the whole "platforms which don't support configure

use of 'long' in vorbis structures
The codebase sets up ogg_int32_t, etc, but then uses long directly in several structures. Unfortunately for me longs are 64 bits on my platform, not 32, and I end up getting hammered by unnecessary software math routine calls. Should I be able to just search/replace 'long' with 'ogg_int32_t' in the code or would that cause more problems than it fixes? -Dave --- >8 ---- List

Simple encodig sample...
Hi all. I'm Mat & I'm new :) I'm testing libtheora + libogg perhaps for a commercial product. I started watching encoder_example.c ... I simplified it for testing it easier. It seems ok to me but I have no experience with theora so I would like to know if my code is correct. I tried to debug it with Valgrind and I found 4 possible memory leaks... but I think they can be

[Patch] OS/2 port
[Repost, maybe it will get noticed with a better subject] So now beta 4 is out is there any chance you guys will have time to review some of my patches? Here's a simple one. It just adds the standard integer typedefs for EMX GCC. I've flattened the structure using #elif's so it doesn't get a level deeper for every platform added but the result should be the same. I realise

[patch] more ffmpeg2theora improvements
Hi, the attached patch (against current SVN) adds three new options to ffmpeg2theora: --keyint (set keyframe interval) --smoothness (set the theora_info::sharpness encoding parameter) and --noautosync (disable the new frame dropping/duplicating code). It also fixes a bug with the processing of --cropright that sometimes segfaulted. The sync adjustment code is now tuned to be more reliable. BTW
