Re: P2V conversion failed with "/run/lvm/lvmetad.socket: connect failed: No such file or directory"
Hi Richard, Thanks for your response, We have followed the steps mentioned in https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2015-November/msg00015.html Now we are able to connect the V2V Conversion Server from Physical server after booting from livecd. Once ssh connection established, "Start Conversion" opens up another UI which has necessary info. of hardware (eg. CPU, RAM, HDD

We could probably support OEL with a bit of effort, but it's not supported now. The virt-v2v manual (which you should read, as well as the virt-p2v manual) provides a list of all OSes

[PATCH] Non-daemon actions indirect through generated code
Matt asked me this morning if we could generate guestfish scripts automatically from running programs like virt-v2v. Good idea. This patch however doesn't do this, but it lays the groundwork for it: In order for us to generate code for any functions which don't go through the daemon, we need to add an indirection to those calls via some generated code. This will allow us to add

Looking on our firewall, it will timeout inactive connections after 15 minutes of inactivity. I'm guessing there is no keepalive in the control connections. VM name starting with a dash
13:19 < tgolembi[m]> is there a trick how to convert a VM with name that starts with a dash? It's being confused for virt-v2v argument. :) Yes you can do this: $ virt-v2v -o [etc...] -- vmname Note all -options need to come before the "--". For example: $ virt-builder fedora-35 $ mv fedora-35.img ./-fedora-35.img $ virt-v2v -i disk -o null --

[PATCH FOR DISCUSSION ONLY] Allow setting of user:group for qemu subprocess.
This is an experimental (not working) patch which would allow you to set the user and group of the qemu process, assuming the main program is running as root. The reason for this is to allow access as root to disk images which are located on "root-squashed" NFS volumes. This is a particular concern for virt-v2v. The most immediate problem with the patch (which can be fixed easily) is

What about display type? I found there is no graphics type part showed in guest xml for Vmware esxi guests before conversion, but after conversion by virt-v2v,the display type of some guests changed to spice while some changed to vnc.
