measuring latency
Hi, I was just wondering what your setup was to measure latency for different encoders, i.e. lame vs. vorbis vs. celt mentioned here: http://jmspeex.livejournal.com/3839.html Best, Tristan -- Tristan Matthews email: tristan at sat.qc.ca web: http://tristanswork.blogspot.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Just a question on how things are going
Hi Jean-Marc, I was just wondering if maybe you would consider a "blog-like" text file in the codebase where you just jot down your thoughts about why you are making a change, and where you think you are headed. For example, I noticed today that you completely removed the pitch prediction code. It would be nice to know if you did that because you're moving away from using it as

Stereo dropping to mono with libopus 1.2 RC
Hello Jean-Marc, yes, it works for both 32 and 48 kb/s. Also this option marginally increases the size of the file which is understandable. I tried a few other music files and found that this stereo narrowing happens not only in the case of track I submitted (although in smaller scale) so it would be great if the final libopus 1.2 had officialy a parameter to force music "mode" of

Lost zpool after reboot
Hello, I have a dual boot with Windows 7 64 bit enterprise edition and Opensolaris build 134. This is on Sun Ultra 40 M1 workstation. Three hard drives, 2 in ZFS mirror, 1 is shared with Windows. Last 2 days I was working in Windows. I didn''t touch the hard drives in any way except I once opened Disk Management to figure out why a external USB hard drive is not being listed.

nv50: wfb patches
Not much has changed, except that i've test run these patches for a few weeks now. I'm actually surprised i've avoided Out-Of-Memory issues. Patch 2 remains a temporary hack, awaiting a structural fix by darktama. The whole thing works fine, but XSHM is an issue (http://stillunknown.livejournal.com/928.html). With it disabled most apps are fine, although a few issues remain. As

lattice: plotting an arbitrary number of panels, defining arbitrary groups
R Friends, I'm running R2.7.1 on Windows XP. I'm trying to get some lattice functionality which I have not seen previously documented--I'd like to plot the exact same data in multiple panels but changing the grouping variable each time so that each panel highlights a different feature of the data set. The following code does exactly that with a simple and fabricated air quality data

problem with remotefile definition
Hi, I''m exploring Puppet and have hit a rather weird problem. The puppetmaster server is running CentOS4, fully updated, with puppet installed from the dlutter RPM repo, version 0.20.0-1.el4. I tried adding the remotefile function definition from http://reductivelabs.com/projects/puppet/documentation/installation.html in /etc/puppet/manifests/utils/remotefile.pp but when I start

[LLVMdev] Possible issue with DenseMap when using AliasSetTracker
Dear All, while willing to assist developers to adhere strictly to coding guidelines, I wrote the attached program called "alias-detector". The program's intent is to utilize the BasicAliasAnalysis to get a list of aliases for each pointer in a certain program code. First it initializes clang as frontend, executes the EmitLLVMOnlyAction, and then processes the produced Module with

Argh, preecho mistriggers
In case people on the list don't know it, A Vorbis tester (who's email I've lost! If you're on the list, speak up!) is maintaining a vorbis audio quality test page: http://hem.passagen.se/ingets1/vorbis.htm He's doing us the great service of hunting down samples that break Vorbis (so we don't have to :-) In any case, it turns out that the trumpets in the dr4 sample

OrgMassSpecR peak area issue
Hello! I am having an issue with the OrgMassSpecR package. I run my HPLC using a DAD detector. My raw data is exported form chemstation as a csv file. I then upload the csv into Rstudio no problem. Using the DrawChromatogram function, I get a nice chromatogram, and my retention time, peak area, and apex intensity values are given as well. The problem comes with the peak area value given. The

If you think getting Windows games working in Wine is hard ...
... try getting old Linux binaries to work in a current Linux. It's actually harder. http://secretlondon.livejournal.com/447659.html (Windows is all about binary compatibility, but Linux is expressly not - it's all about *source* compatibility. So old programs are more likely to work by running the Windows version in Wine.) - d.

Managing R packages under Linux
Greetings, I need to develop a way to manage the installation and update of R packages under linux (CentOS), hopefully using Puppet. I''ve got most of the rest of hodge-podge of install scripts and maintenance scripts translated into Puppet and need to tackle this beast now. R is a programming language for statistics, basically, and has a few jillion add on package libraries, very much

how to automatically create the home directory
If you're on a RedHat system with selinux (RHEL, CentOS, fedora), then it looks like <https://danwalsh.livejournal.com/69837.html> pam_oddjob_mkhomedir will create the home directories for you and also ensure that the correct selinux labels are applied. I have this on my todo list, as I'm currently using the ADUC method, which is labour intensive. -- Mason On Thu, 10 Oct 2019 at
