9.1-RC3 reproducible kernel panic in ffs_valloc?
Hello :-) After days of problem with my system storage (?) I think I have located the issue, or at least I am able to reproduce it, please take a look at attached picture (photo of a crash). http://i45.tinypic.com/23qtcx.jpg At first I thought that was the Ext2 filesystem issue, but then I have replaced the filesystem to UFS2-SU+J (which increased transfer efficiency and dramatically reduced

FreeBSD 9.2-RC1 i386 frozen to death
Hey :-) I have just installed FreeBSD 9.2-RC1 on Dell Latitude D620 i386 laptop. After first run and installation of some packets with pkg(ng) then some xorg configuration when I was in console it hung badly with totally no response. This looks bad :-( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Tngr7YpP_I Best regards, Tomek -- CeDeROM, SQ7MHZ, http://www.tomek.cedro.info

10.0 BETA3 - nanobsd.sh does not use pkg
Hi, all, I just wanted to report that. I do not yet have a patch to suggest. nanobsd.sh cust_pkg() still tries to call pkg_add and fails when adding packages to the NANO_WORLD_DIR. tbz vs. txz ? freebsd-update and surces of 9.1-RC3
Hi! I'm trying to use freebsd-update for first time. I have 9.0-RELEASE installed without sources and I have read Handbook chapter and manual page for freebsd-update. "freebsd-update -r 9.1-RC3 upgrade" downloaded updates, its "install" command installed kernel and after reboot second "install" invocation installed binaries but not source tree that is needed to

9.1 minimal ram requirements
Guys, I've heard about some absurd RAM requirements for 9.1, has anybody tested it? e.g. http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=36314 -- View this message in context: http://freebsd.1045724.n5.nabble.com/9-1-minimal-ram-requirements-tp5771583.html Sent from the freebsd-stable mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Why does poudriere always rebuild nginx and GraphicsMagick13?
Hi, poudriere 2.2 here, running on 9.1-amd64 Of the 730-ish ports, whenever I run a build, it always rebuilds the above two ports. Even if nothing changed. Is there are specific reason for this? I don't really mind nginx, because it builds so quickly - but GraphicsMagick takes a bit too long.

FreeBSD wiki offline for a bit
Hey, Due to a security issue in the moinmoin wiki software, the FreeBSD wiki will be offline for a bit. I do not yet know if the issue actually has been exploited in the FreeBSD wiki (haven't had the time yet to examine it), but I took the wiki down just in case. Note that even if the software was compromised, it was considered untrusted from the start and as such heavily sandboxed

9.2-RC1 laptop lid cover problem
Hello :-) On my Dell Latitude D620 I have a bla(c/n)k screen after I close display and open it again. I cannot use this machine anymore as it was working on plaintext console (no xorg). What should I do to make screen return after display is closed and opened again? Should I load apm module or something similar or is this the display driver problem? bluray recorder
Hello :-) I have just bought a Pioneer 15x BluRay recorder. I saw something like below in the dmesg, I cannot access video with VLC, should I worry about that? I guess recording files can be done just as for DVD with growisofs? :-) (cd2:ata0:0:1:0): READ DVD STRUCTURE. portupgrade(1) | portmaster(8) -- which is more effective for large upgrade?
Greetings, I haven't upgraded my tree(s) for awhile. My last attempt to rebuild after an updating src && ports, resulted in nearly installing the entire ports tree, which is why I've waited so long. Try as I might, I've had great difficulty finding something that will _only_ upgrade what I already have installed, _and_ respect the "options" used during the original

SAMBA 48 - Dependencies Python27 vs python36
Hello Everyone, Good morning/afternoon/evening. Is there any chance to have SAMBA 48 working with Python36 and its derivatives? ( py36-dnspython-1.15.0.txz. py36-iso8601-0.1.11.txz, py36-ply-3.11.txz, py36-setuptools-40.6.2.txz) Currently SAMBA 48 requires python 26, but that is conflicting with existing packages in the server that is using py36. Any way to work around that issue?

Freebsd + Puppet 3.2.2 pkg_add -f ?
Shouldn''t pkg_add be using the -r option for package management? I worked around by forcing the client to use ports instead, but it stinks. Any thoughts? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to

A strange behaviour in the graphical function "curve"
I thought the curve function was a very flexible way to draw functions. So I could plot funtions like the following: # I created a function to produce functions, for instance: fp <- function(m,b) function(x) sin(x) + m*x + b # So I can produce a function like this ff <- fp(-0.08, 0.2) ff(1.5) # Is the same as executing sin(1.5) - 0.08*1.5 + 0.2 # Let's plot this
