PXE Menu Not Working
All,
I'm having an issue with my menu.c32.
I created a menu and it appears correctly, but once I get to my choice, it
won't select it and begin the install.
Below is my pxelinux.cfg/default:

MS-DOS, WinXP SP2 with 3.05 and 3.0.6rc2
Hello!
I use Windows XP SP2 on my clients. I use the http://unattended.sf.net to
automatically
install my WinXP machines from a MS-DOS client. This works fine in
samba-3.0.5 but since
SP2 causes a problem with printers I upgraded to samba-3.0.6rc2. RC2 in
turn doesn't work
with MS-DOS clients. The symptom is that I can boot from the fileserver
but when I try to
invoke a program I get

Linux reinstallation without rebooting? Alternative to kickstart and other such tools?
Hi All.
I am curious if it is possible to reinstall linux distribution to centos
(or another distro) if I have a remote linux server with no kvm access (i
do not want to use virtualization). I know that for installation pxe,
tftpboot and kickstart or a proper iso/cd and kickstart are standard
options. But for such operations I would need kvm access. Are there any
alternatives which do not need

Software Protection on centos
Hi,
I would like to have a software protection for my hardisk. I have some
query regarding that
(1) In Centos, is it possible to do a hardisk protection. Ex : Even if the
hardisk is taken from a PC and
used on another PC, it should not be executable.
(2) Also if the entire binary of the source is mounted on a partition say
/tmp, is it possible
to make that mount point as protected,

Hardisk cloning for centos-5.3
Hi,
I want to clone my hardisk containing the centos-5.3 OS and its swap
region on to new raw hardisk via network
either through ssh, tftp or ftp. How do i do that ?
Is there any Tool for that or will DD command be sufficient.I know that dd
command will have to be used on hardisk
with already existing partitions and not on raw disk.

RH8.0 kernel lockup with PXELinux on x440
Howdy. We've got a couple IBM x440 (Summit) 8-way Xeon systems that I've
been trying to get netbooting for a while.
Since we use Kickstart and SystemImager to load OSes on our systems, a
system has to be able to netboot before it can be made available to folks
for project use.
System BIOS is the current one, v1.08. They're booting from a planar
BroadCom Tigon3 adapter. BIOS

Hi!
I would like to thank you, H. Peter Anvin for creating this wonderful set of
tools.
The only thing that bothers me is the lack of proper examples in the docs.
Syslinux and affiliates would certainly improve

CentOS 7 kickstart question
Dear Experts,
Could somebody point to kicstart HOWTO specific for CentOS 7?
On CentOS 7 I somehow am always given human intervention questions about
drive which defeats unattended ks install.
<rant ??>
I'm doing kickstart installations for quite some time, normally I was just
installing system when new release comes, and am basing kickstart file on
anaconda-ks.cfg - with some

pxelinux.0...error: not a valid image; unable to load file
I am trying to update a computer from Fedora Core 4 to
Fedora Core 6. My plan is to do this using PXE and a
kickstart file. I am implementing the use of an FTP
and DHCP server. The computers I am updating are
diskless workstations, meaning they have no hard
drives and they boot off of the network. I have
configured my dhcp.conf file, my ks.cfg (kickstart
file), my tftp server and so on, but

PXE Question....
Hi,
We are using PXELinux 1.75, ISC DHCP 3.0pl1 and atftp-0.6 to deploy RH
7.3 across a number of Dell Rackmount systems.
I would like to set things up so that the RH boot kernel grabs the IP
Address, gateway aand DNS address from the
first DHCP request with 'ipappend 1', but so far have had no success,
Kickstart issue a seconed request after
booting the kernel.
Here are my configs:

RedHat kickstart with PXELINUX [A small change for pxelinux]
It looks like someone else also has the same problem:

I don't know much about Intel i386 asm. Otherwise, I will send a
patch :-).

tftp problems
I've used TFTP server on CentOS/RHEL 7 and 8 but not 9, so take my notes
with the appropriate grain of salt...
JIC, confirm on the TFTP server you have a process socket for it, e.g.
$ netstat -a | grep tftp
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:tftp 0.0.0.0:*
Your 'systemctl status' output implies things are OK, but worth a check.
I don't see a "tftpboot" symlink

Interactive PXE install
I've got a system (Supermicro P8SCT) that lacks a floppy or CD and it's old
enough that it won't boot from a USB stick. Before I scrounge an optical
drive to plug in, I thought perhaps I could install over the network, as I
see "legacy LAN boot" in the BIOS menu.
The guides for a LAN install I've found all want to do an automated
kickstart install. Are there any
