How to survive from connection loss with durable file handle
Hi All,
I have configured samba on RHEL 7.4 with samba-4.6.6. I have 2 NICs
configured on this machine. To test durable file handle functionality I
mounted the samba share on windows 10 machine and copied video file and
start playing it. While video was playing, from linux machine I did ifdown
and ifup of NIC, duration of down and up is 15/20 sec, but observed that
video stopped playing and

Is write(2) made durable atomically?
Will a write(2) to a ZFS file be made durable atomically?
Under the hood in ZFS, writes are committed using either shadow paging or
logging, as I understand it. So I believe that I mean to ask whether a
write(2), pushed to ZPL, and pushed on down the stack, can be split into
multiple transactions? Or, instead, is it guaranteed to be committed in a
single transaction, and so committed atomically?

How to build Samba4 using static linked libraries
Hi All:
I am building the torture/smbtorture for samba-4.0.0alpha17. After build, I am running the test in another environment.
I not only need to copy the binary smbtorture, I also need to copy the shared libraries. This is HUGE inconvenient for us.
Could somebody tell me how to build the binary using static linked libraries?
Thanks very much

But, the waf build fails immediately.
Then, I tried to only link with lib talloc and tevent statically, so I did:

configure problem --- Can't find recent OpenSSL libcrypto
Hello Gurus,
I tried my best as I can to do RTFM and Googling to find any information to
solve the problem myself which I failed.
I installed OpenSSL 0.9.6d 9 May 2002 with this option on a Solaris 8 box
using Sun Forte6-2
$config solaris64-sparcv9-cc --prefix=/local/santanu/pkg/ssl
Now I am trying to install openssh 3.2.3p1 and getting this error.

how to reproduce the same sampled units?
Hi all,
Is it possible to generate the same sample number of times in R? In
SAS, using the option "seed" it is possible to reproduce exactly the
same sample. Is there any such feature in R which I can use?
For further clarity,
for (i in 1:2)
{
samp = sample(1:1000,100,replace = FALSE)
print(samp)
}
For the above simulation, is it possible to generate the same sampled
units

LLVM flags for Vectorization
Hi,
I have been analyzing the LLVM vectorizer by running some benchmarks. For
vectorization, I have used the following flags:
-O3
-ffast-math
-mavx2
Am I missing any other flags which will improve vectorizer performance?
Thanks,

Reading large SAS dataset in R
Hi all,
I have a large (approx. 1 GB) SAS dataset (test.sas7bdat) located in the
server (“R:/” directory). I have SAS 9.1 installed in my PC and I can read
the SAS dataset in SAS, under a windows environment, after assigning libname
in "R:\" directory.
Now I am trying to read the SAS dataset in R (R 2.12.0) using the read.ssd
function of the “foreign” package, but I get an error

plot within a loop
Hi ,
I'm having problem with the following plot. Basically I have to do
51(length of d, see below) plots. I want 6 plots (say) in a page and
rests are in different pages. win.graph() starts a plot in new page. But
I'm not being able to combine par(mfrow = c(3,2)) and win.graph() within
a loop.

GAM: Overfitting
I am analyzing particulate matter data (PM10) on a small data set (147
observations). I fitted a semi-parametric model and am worried about
overfitting. How can one check for model fit in GAM?

durable file handles cross-node confusion
Hello to everyone
Durable file handles allow a connection to an SMB server to survive a short network outage. An ongoing IO will continue after the client reconnects to the same server (maybe a difference smbd process if the CTDB status is always health during the outage). When crossing nodes caused by virtual IP’s relocating, durable handles will not work apparently.

integrate
Hi,
I am trying to integrate a function which is approximately constant
over the range of the integration. The function is as follows:
> my.fcn = function(mu){
+ m = 1000
+ z = 0
+ z.mse = 0
+ for(i in 1:m){
+ z[i] = rnorm(1, mu, 1)
+ z.mse = z.mse + (z[i] - mu)^2
+ }
+ return(z.mse/m)
+ }

copying file(s) from agent to master??
Is there a way to copy file(s) from the Puppet agent back to the
master? I know it sounds silly but that''s what I need to do. This is
one of the s/w-tag files, gets created/modified automatically by the
software installation job and then I want to overwrite the tag files
on two other agents with this one. Is there a why for doing this?
Cheers,
San

SMBtorture Documentation
Hi,
Can somebody provide a documentation for "SMBTORTURE" test suite available with Samba.
I am trying to learn about the individual test options available with smbtorture.
Detailed information about each test will be of great help.
thanks in advance

Building smbclient 4.3.3 as one executable without shared libraries
When we build smbclient 4.3.3 we now have 76 shared libraries to deliver with the smbclient binary. Is there any way to specify it statically linking the libraries so we only have to deliver an executable ? With 3.6.5 and 4.0.7, we only had 3 libraries, which was more more manageable.
Thank you,

ctdb error after upgrade to 4.12.10
Hi Jeremy,
I'm afraid this is indeed caused by the talloc tidyup as one can
perfectly reproduce it wih the following patch for smbtorture (call
bin/smbtorture ncacn_np:lo local.file.file_lines_parse). I guess we need
to set up some warning signs around file_lines_parse() expressing that
it takes talloced content and that one should not free the separated
lines array separately.

Constant error messages about failure to remove oplock
Hi All,
Need your help/inputs on what could be the probable cause/how to debug
this further.
We are using samba-4.0.25 & expose a share that has oplocks enabled & no
kernel-oplocks set. We constantly see these messages in samba logs
