nlme: correlation structure in gls and zero distance
Dear listers, I am trying to model the distribution of fox density over years in the Doubs department. Measurements have been taken on 470 plots in March each year and georeferenced. Average density is supposed to be different each year. In a first approach, I would like to use a general model of this type, taking spatial correlation into account:

one for your filters
Some !@$#@@# in the Czech Republic used one of our SIP accounts to place four thousand calls to what appears to be a toll number in Zimbabwe last night. Filter 82.150.165.5. A more overriding problem for me is how do we know what *destinations* to filter so this idea of war dialing a toll number is something we can cutoff before it gets to our upstream provider? Is there some collected

Using an image background with graphics
I would like to use a map or aerial photo as a background to plotting solid lines and text, and semi-transparent color contours, in base and lattice graphics. Plot coordinates need to be consistent with the georeferenced background. For example, a color contour plot would have an gray-toned aerial photograph as a background for overprinted semi-transparent color contours of some spatially

Hi R users I need the map of France?s ? communes ? (towns) to build a map Is there a way to get it? More generally: How to do to get the map of a country and its different geographical levels? GWR Predictions' standard deviation
Dear all, I would like to use a GWR model in order to spatially predict food insecurity in Africa. I have a georeferenced village data-bases and I've run a "classic" regression model (taking into account the spatial dependence of the errors) that works fairly well for Niger that is a quite homogenous country. Now, I would like to make the same thing for countries where it should be

trends for georeferenced spatial global grid
Hello, There is a task to derive a linear trend, for ex. 5 units/month for values located at the georeferenced global latidute-longitude grid. There are several grids corresponding to time steps, say for a month with 6 hour interval. Sure, one can create a loop and derive a trend value for each data point. Is there a better practice for this task to express it in a line or two or a dedicated

transition matrices
I am working with transition matrices of sequences of animal behaviours. What I would like to do is parse the original matrices, adjusting row/column order so that the matrix has its main values in blocks surrounding the diagonal. This would cause behaviours involved in functional groupings (e.g. grooming, resting, foraging etc) to appear as blocks. This can be done manually by applying

Graphically show population density for a specific geographic area using R
Hi, we all know that R is powerful in dealing with graphics. I am now trying to use R to show some geographic attributes for a specific geographic area on a graph. For example, if I would like to generate a graph showing the population densities (in terms of the intensity of colors) for Illinois State by zip codes. I did some research; and it seems that package "maptools" is

I am trying to write a data frame to a dbf file. *n.simulations <- 999 binomial <- kulldorff(geo, cases, population, NULL, pop.upper.bound, n.simulations, alpha.level, plot) cluster <- binomial$most.likely.cluster$location.IDs.included df <- data.frame(ID=seq(1,n.simulations,by=1), simloglkhd=binomial$simulated.log.lkhd)

One file open or locked way too many times. How to fix?
A Windows 2000 Server is a member server of the domain. The domain server is CentOS 4.5 with all updates and Samba 3.0.24 built using the packaging/RHEL/makerpms.sh script. The W2k server is opening this file on the samba server. This problem started several versions of CentOS and Samba ago, and I did the upgrades thinking it would fix it. It did not. It seems to be "locking" or

rsync of file list
Hi All, I would to rsync data spread of many files from remote site. Each file may exist in total different location - the path for each file may be different. My question is: Can I do it one single rsync command, giving a file containing list of paths as parameter, or do I need to run rsync for each file. I did not find any option doing it in the man page. I tried to play with

Rsync help needed...
Hello, I was reading your posts about RSYNC. We have a massive Oracle schema lots of datafiles about 750 GB size. We do rsync datafiles from source to target server but everytime we cleanup the datafiles on the target server and do rsync every 2 weeks. On the target side mostly the datafiles will be same but on source we might have added few datafiles or made some changes in data and as such the
