Forget about tinc. I won't work until you solve issue with your kernel.

Hi Marek
I managed to setup everything in openwrt. However I am getting errors when
trying to run tinc daemon. Below is my debug output. Please help.. How do I

By the way, 3.3.8 seems very old for an OpenWrt kernel. The router I am
running tinc on has 3.8.10 and is several years old. I built that image
myself but it was based on Barrier Breaker r36499.
You may want to find a more recent build -- for example a

But didn't one of your earlier mails say that tun did not appear in your
lsmod output?
If the module is there but not loaded, why don't you just "insmod" it?
I am confused.
Sorry, I can't help further. I have told

tinc - switch mode bridge
Hi
I am testing running tinc in switch mode. , my topology is as follows
Site 1 (tinc-srv01) -> Site 2 (tinc-srv02)
I have configured the bridge interfaces with ip addresses and able to ping
between bridges. I then setup a server on each site and tested layer 2
connectivity between the two servers. Topology as follows.
Server 1 - *Site 1* (tinc-srv01) -> *Site 2* (tinc-srv02) - Server 2

Beste tinc-developer,

You can find tinc package in openwrt repo and install it with opkg or luci.
I suggest you first run couple of tinc nodes on x86, just to understand how it works.

memory leak with vlan tagged traffic in switch mode
Hi,
has anybody a running setup with 2 or more tinc daemons in switch mode which
transport 8021q tagged traffic?
I am trying to connect two segments with about 4 x 1000 mac addresses
(distributed on different vlans). I am always running out of memory on one
side. This happens only on the side where the arp requests come from.
Currently there is no unicast traffic between the sides; only

FW: Help with 'switch' mode
Guus:
Thank you for your explanation! My confusion was based on my
misunderstanding of the tun/tap device - I thought it was exactly like a
pcap device, and therefore should've "just worked" in that mode. So,
once you explained how the tun/tap device actually worked, the use of
bridges immediately made sense. I was then able to setup bridges on my
single interface linux

book on tinc
Hi Ivo and Guus,
We are writing a book on building VPNs for Linux and a part of it describes
tinc. I wanted to make sure that your opinion, as tinc authors and
developers, is reflected.
First, let me ask a couple of technical questions.
1.
If there are two hosts, foo and bar, that are to be connected via tinc, and
each host should only have _one_ IP address (i.e. nmask is /32), would the

tinc vs. ipchains masquerading
Howdy,
I tried tackling this on irc with Ivo, but I suspect that irc may really
not be the best medium for technical discussions, so I'll reprise it here.
I am trying to duplicate the "tinc from behind a masquerading firewall"
example from the tinc web site:

Help with 'switch' mode
Hello,
I've been using tinc v1.0 for the last few weeks in router mode - to
great success. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for in a VPN at the time
- most of the security of IPSEC with none of the interoperability
issues. However, a few days ago, I got a VOIP phone that doesn't use IP
without paying several thousand extra dollars on top of what we've
already spent on the phone

Linux to Windows Tinc Issue
Hello,

the following errors:

It should have a VPN IP of 192.168.2.1 and it sits behind a pretty generic
ADSL Router (with port 655 forwarded) which can be found via a dynamic host
address. A small snippet of errors this
