Suggestion: Adding quick rowMin and rowMax functions to base package

Column(row)wise minimum and maximum
Hi, Currently, the "base" has colSums, colMeans. It seems that it would be useful to extend this to also include colMin, colMax (of course, rowMin and rowMax, as well) in order to facilitate faster computations for large vectors (compared to using apply). R process killed when allocating too large matrix (Mac OS X)
Hi Simon, thanks for your quick reply. 1) ... so you can reproduce this? 2) Do you know a way how this can be 'foreseen'? We allocate larger matrices in the copula package depending on the user's input dimension. It would be good to tell her/him "Your dimension is quite large. lattice splom: how to adjust space between tick marks and tick labels?

Suggestion: 'method' slot for format.ftable()
