Windows 8 printing to CUPS+Samba - will CreatePrinterIC RPC call stub be implemented?
Hi All,
I'm trying to make Windows 8 clients print to Samba 3.5 and CUPS 1.5.4.
Thanks to the patch from Frank Lascheit (
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2012-December/170322.html) it seems
to work, except for one thing.
By default, Windows 8 client emits CreatePrinterIC request, to which Samba
replies with "Not Implemented" answer. Instead of ignoring it, Win8 client
fails

Windows 7 adding printer
Hello Team,
I am unable to add/upload Windows 7 64 bit print driver from Windows 7 64 bit laptop. It is giving me following error.
The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based system.
Is there any work around ?
Thanks & Regards,

"printer admin" still working in 3.0.21c?
While I'm able to successfully upload printer drivers with APW to my
Samba 3.0.21c DMS server with CUPS, I have a hard time changing printer
properties afterwards which always ends up with "access denied",
although the AD account used to connect is listed in "[global] printer
admin =".
I noticed that "printer admin" is marked deprecated in 3.0.21c, but

Printer Migration hackery
Hokay.
It appears that enumdrivers / getdriver in rpcclient is broken, and won't
be fixed soon. I'd fix it meself, but hey, I'm too busy clearing
skyscrapers in a single bound and moving faster than a speeding bullet. Or
maybe I looked at the cvs once and got REALLY scared.
Unfortunately, I can't wait, so I've come up with a nasty hack to help us
with querying samba for the

Samba printer management commands
Hi
I am trying to setup remote printer management commands, so the users
could add and delete printers from "Printers" share of Samba in
Windows. I have this script, that is launched using an administrator
account, when I add a printer from there, using a new TCP/IP port:

Slow writes from MS-DOS LanMan Client to Samba server
Hello together,
well since I'm close to the despair with my problem I wanna
describe it here and maybe anyone has a good idea.
As the subject already told you I'm trying to connect from a
MS-DOS Client to my Samba Server. I'm running a smbd 2.0.5a on a
AMD K6-III machine which has two IBM 16.8 GB IDE drives and is
connected to over a 3com 3c905b with 100Mb to a fullduplex hub.

Hello,
I (still) have some problems with a printer-driver

In short: When I try to open the printer-properties
of a Deskjet 1120C in MS-Work 97 the error
"Word can not show the properties-dialog,
because there was an error during the printing"
(translated from the german message)
in MS-Word 2000 the properties-dialog shows

spoolss_io_r_setprinter/WERR_ACCESS_DENIED on 2.2.7a
I am unable to 'Apply' new drivers to any printers shared on my Samba 2.2.7a

print$ without a hitch. But when I click 'Apply' or 'OK' to close the
printer properties dialog box, I get 'Cannot set printer properties. Access
denied'.
The printer is a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4100TN, the driver

SMB printing client driver data serving w/ Samba
Is there anyway to get Samba to pass back printer driver data
to a client the way NT print servers do. This makes life so much
easier. From the Samba source, it looks like the 'driverdata'
field for a printer is just set to the string "NULL". The
CIFS specs that I found don't discuss what should be returned in
that field. NOTE: I am already using the DRIVERNAME configuration

i'm confused
Hi all,
New to NUT dev, i was hoping someone can clear up an issue i have with
the unix socket naming for me (FYI my C is not that great). I'm using
2.0.5 and this stems from a problem with the general admin of Nut but
looking at the code led me to think maybe it's a bigger issue (thus i
joined this list).
Right to start with if i have the following in ups.conf:

printernames vs. sharenames
Hello,
when I assign a printer driver to a printer from a windows client, the
printername now changes to the drivername.
Yes, I can see the SPOOLSS_SETPRINTER call with the printername property,
but that's definitly not what I want (or would expect).
E.g. when I change the drivers of 3 printers to HP Laserjet, I get 3 printers
with the names "HP Laserjet [(Copy 1|2)]". These

[Xen-tools] Storage for DomU
Hi all,
I manage to create a VM (slackware image) and hide the PCI device
(qlogic HBA) from Dom0 to DomainU.
Now the Dom0 cant see this HBA and the ''xm list -l'' shows this pci
device under the DomainU.
But how can I do some scsi inquiry or check if this PCI device is
visible to the DomainU from the DomainU''s console.
Any help?
Thanks and regards

Thanks,

GDI Printer problem
Hi,
we have a new printer here (OKI C5650). It's a GDI printer
attached to our cups server. I installed the windows driver
as root on the print share without any problems.
However it's not working. When a user maps the printer
only a message appears "printing not possible".
So I looked at the printserver and compared everything with
a local printer on my XP notebook and found

Unable to upload printer drivers
Ok, quick rely, i got a memory freshup..
The samsung driver in the xml, is not package aware.
See: KB3170455 (w7) KB3163912 (w10) which is the cause of this problem.
Now removing these KB's is not option.
So we are back to :
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/print/constructing-a-package-aware-driver-with-updated-core-drivers
Read it, but this is what we are
