Windows 8 printing to CUPS+Samba - will CreatePrinterIC RPC call stub be implemented?
Hi All,
I'm trying to make Windows 8 clients print to Samba 3.5 and CUPS 1.5.4.
Thanks to the patch from Frank Lascheit (
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2012-December/170322.html) it seems
to work, except for one thing.
By default, Windows 8 client emits CreatePrinterIC request, to which Samba
replies with "Not Implemented" answer. Instead of ignoring it, Win8 client
fails

Windows 7 adding printer
Hello Team,
I am unable to add/upload Windows 7 64 bit print driver from Windows 7 64 bit laptop. It is giving me following error.
The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver,make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based system.
Is there any work around ?
Thanks & Regards,

PROBLEM WITH PRINTERS.
Hi people, I have a print server using Debian, LPRNG and SAMBA working
without any problems. Now I 'm trying to set up a new server with
CentOS 6, CUPS and SAMBA.
It 's a very simple setup: a few local users and a few printers,
nothing special. The clients also map the printer using 'net use lpt1
\\mainserver\printerX' because they need to print over an old DOS
application.

Samba 3.6.9: spoolss_connect_to_client: unable to open the spoolss pipe on machine WINDOWS-SERVER-2.WINDOWS. Error was : NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.
Trying to get a printer server running Samba 3.6.9 (On CentOS 6.5)
going. Trying to add said printers to a Windows Server 2012 machine
prior to deploying to a network of Windows 8.1 laptops.
Definitely making progress; finally figured out the initial permissions
issue I was having (combination of a winbind separator and using the
wrong group prefix and syntax for user lists in an AD context), but

NT_STATUS_RPC_PROCNUM_OUT_OF_RANGE when printing
Hi all,
After building Samba 4.1.20 for Ubuntu 14.04 x64 I encountered this issue
when using shared printers: every time a client prints or changes printer
settings, this message is logged in the log:
dcerpc_spoolss_ReplyClosePrinter failed
[NT_STATUS_RPC_PROCNUM_OUT_OF_RANGE].
Printers print fine, so it is probably harmless, but I still wonder why
this happens.
With log level = 3 I get

Printing eats my CPU
Hi all,
I still have several problems with the printing system.
The most critical is, that some drivers seem to cause an infinite RPC loop.
I have a KYOCERA Mita KM 4230 KX driver installed. In this moment I can see
SPOOLSS_GET_PRINTER and SPOOLSS_GET_PRINTERDATA requests and
RPC responses on the net. Stracing the smbd process looks like this:

Fw: INTERNAL ERROR Report
I realized that my choice of options for grep did not do a very good job
of including the last error message before the INTERNAL ERROR. I've
included it in this email. Sorry.

INTERNAL ERROR Report
I have read the BUGS.txt file, used 'testparm' (successfully), and run
through all the steps in DIAGNOSIS.txt. I don't see any problems that
those tools have identified. The BUGS.txt file indicated that INTERNAL
ERROR was almost certainly the result of a bug. I'm hopeful I have sent
you the information you need. Let me know if there is something more I
need to send.

Printer Admin Difficulties
I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around
samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks
good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage
printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the
deprecated printer admin option, or specifically using net rpc rights
and the SePrinterOperatorPrivilege, it does not matter.

Printing from Windows to Samba takes a LOT of time.
Hi there,
I've a linux server (PII 233, 94mb ram) running Mandrake Linux 9.1 with an HP
printer attached to it.
I've configured the printer (I'm using CUPS) and it works fine. Next, I've
configured samba:
[global]

workgroup = MYWORKGROUP
security = share
log level = 2
printing = cups

.
[hp]
printer = hp
printable = yes

Unable to access printers
Hi All,
Since updating a from 3.0.1-2 to 3.0.2-1 a few weeks back I've been
unable to print. I checked all the obvios settings, but as they had
been working perfectly for some time prior was not surprised to find the
configuration was correct.
The authentication is configured via winbind to a 2000 ADS PDC.
security = DOMAIN
I've since updated again to 3.0.2-2 and found the issue

Windows printing problems to Samba3.2
Help! I'm in the process of migrating my companies Windows NT print
server to Samba 3.2. (yea) But I'm running into a few problems. (boo)
I've searched the archives and google with no success...
I have about 15 clients testing out the new server, mainly Win2k. Some
work fine, but others have problems connecting, getting the "Unable to
Connect" message in the printer folder.
