V0.8.0 Problems
Tim, et al, I have run into several problems with V0.8.0. I will address them seperately. 1. My compiler is complaining about the following code in celt.c which seems to define metric first as celt_word32, then as celt_word16. Am I mis-interpreting something? ?? VARDECL(celt_word32, metric); ?? ALLOC(metric, len, celt_word16); Thx MikeH -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

bug found in CELT 0.6.1, fix proposed.
Hi all I have spent the last three days evaluating CELT on our supported platforms. I found a bug in quant_bands.c, that due to processor/compilation differences did not cause an issue on x86 platforms, but is a problem on the MIPS processor embedded devices. When decoding on the MIPS devices, there was a lot of noise added during the decoding, the noise is mainly in the 15 khz to 21 khz range.

QCONST16 cross compile inconsistency
Greetings, I have found that QCONST16(32.f, 10) yields different result (from gcc 4.4.7 ) when the code is compiled for TI C55 or C64 DSPs. gcc - result is 32767 TI compiler result is -32768 (C55 compiler version 4.4.1 and C6x compiler version 7.4.2) Although not in the current code, QCONST32(32.f, 26) results differ in similar fashion. Judging by the use #ifdef TI_C.. in the code base, these

[PATCH] Eliminate the ec_int32 and ec_uint32 typedefs.
These were used because the entropy coder originally came from outside libcelt, and thus did not have a common type system. It's now undergone enough modification that it's not ever likely to be used as-is in another codec without some porting effort, so there's no real reason to maintain the typedefs separately. Hopefully we'll replace these all again somedate with a common set

Problem compiling opus-tools-0.1.7
Hi I'm having a problem compiling opus-tools-0.1.7. Version opus-tools-0.1.6 seems to compile OK. I've tried with opus-1.0.3 and opus-1.1-beta. The errors are like this:- "undefined reference to `sqrtf'" etc. This OS is Peppermint Three, similar to Ubuntu 12.04. It uses:- gcc --version gcc (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) 4.6.3 Google says it's maybe something to do

incorrect use of MAX16
Hello, in celt/celt_encoder.c line 369, the 'b' argument to MAX16 can sometimes be greater than what can be represented by a 16bit integer. The default definition of MAX16 is type-less, but I am working on an architecture with hardware support for min/max of 16bit. Changing the default definition to take advantage of this hardware changes the result of that computation. Please consider

SPEEX on iPhone ?
I can confirm that it will run in real time on iPhone if you compile with FIXED_POINT defined; it will also run in real time if you have FLOATING_POINT defined and disable 'Compile for Thumb' in the target's build settings in xcode. Wideband works too. Cheers, Dave

Porting CELt to the C5505
Tony, How is this going? Have you been able to get CELT to run on a TI55xx? I am very interested in the % utilization of the hardware and whether multiple instance of CELT on the same DSP are feasible. I look forward to your findings. visual studio 2005 - help getting speex workin'
Hey there, I'm having trouble getting speex working with a project that uses it. For some quick background, the game Quake 3 was GPL'ed a while ago. Some programmers decided to throw it into a public svn and improve on it, called it ioquake3. One of the blokes integrated speex into ioquake3 and it works, but I have troubles getting it to compile/link properly with Visual Studio 2005. I

GLOBAL_STACK_SIZE
I am having trouble understanding the stack allocation scheme when using a C55xx device. From what I can tell, the GLOBAL_STACK_SIZE is set in arch.h to 100,000 bytes (when using FIXED_POINT), which is then used in the ALLOC_STACK macro found in stack_alloc.h. This macro seems to say, if global_stack==0, then call celt_alloc_scratch, found in os_support.h, which in turn attempts to allocate (using

Endianess Switch?
Jean-Marc, It appears that since testcelt reads a WAVE file from disck and passes the data directly to celt_encode, so that celt_encode's "in" buffer must be expecting little-endian formatted packets. Is this correct? Is there endiness switch somewhere? Thx MikeH -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

SPEEX on iPhone ?
Why don't you just try it? From what others have been reporting, it shouldn't take you long to get it running. You can use speexenc and speexdec for testing. How to compile speex with XCode (for iPhone App)?
Hi, I'm currently trying to use Speex on the iPhone but have some difficulties to get Speex compiled with XCode. Unfortunately I'm very new to XCode and it would be great if someone could give me a hint what the problem is. Here is what I did in detail: 1. Downloaded the Source Code speex-1.2rc1.tar.gz from www.speex.org 2. Start Xcode 3.1.4 3. File > New Project ... 4. iPhone OS

Some additions to CELT_RESET_STATE for 0.7.1
Hi Jean-Marc, As the self-appointed keeper of CELT_RESET_STATE (since I may be the only one actually using it) I've been kind of lax lately and have only now tried to reconcile it with the state structures in the 0.7.1 drop. I think (and feel free to contradict me here) that the following lines should be added to CELT_RESET_STATE in celt_encoder_ctl: st->fold_decision = 1;

Small bug fixed
Hi, It is better to replace this line in function filterbank_new: max_mel = toBARK(EXTRACT16(MULT16_16_Q15(QCONST16(.5f,15),sampling))); to max_mel = toBARK(EXTRACT16(sampling/2)); It gives the same but it seems to be faster and avoids overflow on 44100 kHz that prevents denoiser to process 44100 streams. (Yes I know that Speex should not pack 44100 streams but it does now and I use it). Best

C55xx Linking Error
I am attempting to port CELT to the TI C5515 DSP. I am compiling/assembling/linking with Code Composer Studio 4. I have enabled the TI_55 specific optimizations in my config.h file per this <http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/celt-dev/2008-December/000033.html> post. However, I am getting several "undefined symbol" linking errors that do not make sense to me. According to the error
