multichannel?
Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to do multichannel encoding with CELT. From the documentation & the code I understand that CELT currently encodes mono (1 channel) or stereo (2 channels). I would like to use CELT in a multichannel setup, to encode (and stream) n mono channels. Just n mono channels, not a layout like 5.1 With vorbis I can do this, but vorbis adds a lot of

Dual mono not stereo
Hi, If I want to encode two audio channels that are not related, audio from two different sources not stereo, is it best to create two instances of a single channel encoder or use one encoder with two channels? thank you, Paul.

Multichannel, usage & players?
Hello to the list, and please forgive me if this has already been asked before. (I am new here, you see) The question is really simple: Can I use FLAC to create multichannel files, ranging from 3-channel LCR, through Quad, 4.1 to 5.1 and possibly (later) above? The projects details are essentially this: DVD-Audio, containing MLP Lossless in stereo & surround/multichannel. Video_TS folder

Surround Sound
Hey folks, As I understand it, the vorbis codec had support for a channel count > 2, but that it didn't explicitly state the channel binding for channels 3, 4, ... . I'm assuming that with enough fiddling, it would theoretically be possible to use a 5.1 stream encoded into vorbis. From what I know of the CELT codec, it handles either only mono or stereo. Is that correct? -- Kip

adding celt support to netjack some questions.
hi. i am currently adding celt support to netjack. very nice to see a free low-latency codec :) i currently dont require robustness against packet loss, because the sync code of netjack does not handle packet loss very gracefully. how much bandwidth is wasted for this feature ? is it sensible, to have the data downsampled berfore encoding , in order to reduce bandwidth ? i suspect that just

multichannel
Hi All, Would it be possible to encode n channels with the CELT api? I can't find a negative or positive in the CELT docs; all I could find is c a check on the nr of channels in wav_io.c in the CELT tools. No clear insight on wheter or not the channels parameter in celt_mode_create can be > 2. Answers on the list were (thanks!): - Sure, You just encode each channel and then store the

Multichannel files
Hi, As I´ve understood things, the Ogg Vorbis format supports more that two channels (stereo). Is there any tools to encode x sourcefiles into one .ogg file? I am a musican and am thrilled with the ide of makeing music in surround (or in more than stereo). This leads to my next question: is there (developing) any decoders for multichannel oggs to, let us say, 4.1 or 5.1 surround? Wouldn´t it

Is there are description somewhere of how CELT packs into the .oga file? Trying to reverse engineer it from the intertwined celtenc code is suboptimal. -a

SMB Multichannel not working?
Hello, I, like many before me, am having an issue with SMB multichannel. I am running Samba v4.10.16 (package is provided by Amazon) on an Amazon Linux 2 EC2 instance. I am aware that SMB multichannel is an experimental feature until 4.15, but the documentation states it is supported so I would like to evaluate it. We have had reports of performance degradation when certain workloads (heavy

Multichannel Speex
Hello! The question is: "Does Speex support multiple channels?" Speex is reported to encode only mono and stereo signals. But I found 'nb_channel' defined in <speex_header.h> among the Public Attributes. Does this mean that it is also possible to store more than two channels in one single speex-file? Maybe it will be possible in the next future...? TIA -- Mch --- >8

Multichannel echo cancellation
Dear all, I have just implemented a gstreamer plugin for the Speex AEC, but now I would like to extend it to a multichannel echo cancellation I have been searching documentation about that but I could not find it Where it is? If it doesn't exist? Could you add a short example showing how do you think it should work? or It's "just" necessary to: init the multichannel echo

SMB Multichannel use-cases
Hello, I'd like to understand the use-cases to use SMB multichannel. Especially, if the SMB client and Samba server are talking over the WAN. When does one see an improvement in throughput with multichannel? For instance, does copying multiple files result in parallel copying over multiple connections over the same session? Your inputs are appreciated. Thanks, Madhu

Decoding for ambisonic Ogg audiob
The prospect of people actually putting B-format audio (via the panner or directly input) into Ogg/Vorbis brings an interesting challenge: What do we do with the audio after decoding it? The following sane options exist: A) Simply output the B-format audio B) Produce a downmix 1) Mono. 2) Stereo blumlein crossed pairs 3) Stereo UHJ 4) binaural C) Produce speaker feeds 1) Fully

joint multichannel coding (long message)
I've got an idea for joint multichannel coding. Here is my idea: My idea is a process for coding 2,3,4 or 5 combined channels, in a compatible way for decoders unable to deal with combined channels. part1: All channels to be coded are summed, each one effected by a coefficient related to its sound power importance for the listener. The sum of all channels is devided by the square root of the

FAQ correction
The FAQ says (at its very end): > Does Vorbis support mid/side stereo modes? More than stereo? > > Vorbis has hooks for mid/side stereo and continuous balance stereo, > but the channel mappings for both are yet to be formally specified and > implemented. Currently, Vorbis channels are uncoupled. > This should be updated so that people know how good is Vorbis :) > Vorbis does

Ask for suggestions about optimizing opus on STM32F407
Hello Thomas and Amit, Thanks for your notice and the detailed decode performance report. I describe the details of my encode/decode test on STM32F407ZG. A. opus version: latest 1.2.1 (TI: opus 1.1.2) B. KEIL 5.23 (TI: ARM compiler tool chain 5.2.7) C. setup the encoder as the below (fs is the sampling frequency) enc = opus_encoder_create(fs, chans, OPUS_APPLICATION_AUDIO, &opus_err);

laod multichannel-audio-files with readWave (tuneR)
Hi, I have a huge collection of 6-channel .wav files containing audio and sensor recordings, which I need to analyse, across all 6 channels. I'm thinking about what will be easier to do. 1. Just split the channels in an external audio-editor and than read each mono channel seperatly with readWave (from tuneR), or 2. inherite the readWave class and extend it to multichannel reading? What

[Question] Multichannel load-balancing algorithm
Hello, I have a question about multichannel and the load-balancing algorithm. What kind of algorithm is it? (Roud-robin, dynamic round-robin, ...) What are the arguments the algorithm compute to load-balance the network traffic on the interfaces? I already know that if a 10Gb/s interface and a 1Gb/s interfaces are in the multichannel connection the 1Gb/s one will be ignored until the 10Gb/s goes
