celtclient 64kbps more than expected
Hi,
The default settings for celtclient are:-
Sampling rate 48000
Frame size 256
Packet size 43
According to my calculations this should give a bitrate of 64kbit/sec +
a little extra for the 32bit time stamp and 4 null byte pseudo header.
Using vnstat I was very surprised to see that it was reporting a bitrate
usage of around 16kbyte/sec which is 128kbit/sec, double what I was
expecting.

arecord pipe to celtenc just stops
Hi all,
Just found out about this codec and I'm really impressed.
I compiled celt-0.5.2.tar.gz on my desktop and tried out a few tests. I
then did a native fixed point arm compile on my beagleboard which also
worked a treat.
Before I get started with the library I was trying to see if I could
grab some real time audio, encode it and write to a file using arecord

celtenc two channels
Hi,
To enable stereo in celtenc do I need to change anything other than
#define CHANNELS 1
to
#define CHANNELS 2
The reason is after I do this the audio sounds distorted. Please let me
know if I need to do anything else or whether I need to investigate
what's happening at my end further.
Paul.

Hardware RackMount Codec?
Hello all. I've been a fan of the xiph project for some time, thank you for your excellent work. I am looking for a fully-developed, beta, or alpha open-source hardware platform for remote deployment to terrestrial fm transmitters and streaming to general internet listeners. Willing to participate in development/beta testing of projects or possible $ support for an existing project. Able

Metadata: populating StreamUrl
Howdy Folks:
Is there a way in v2.4.2 to include a ?StreamUrl=? field in the stream metadata as well as ?StreamTitle=?? It appears that the administrative interface only populates StreamTitle.
For example:
http://server.example.com:8000/admin/metadata?mount=MyMount&mode=updinfo&song=MySong
will insert only ?StreamTitle=MySong?;.
Googling around has brought up some possible

a dedicated audio encoder
Hi,
In our design of Icecast2, our multiple sources will stream their high quality audio via a dedicated audio encoder (not a computer):
Live audio > L+R microphone > pre amplifier > audio encoder > Icecast2 VPS
So far I have a shortlist of 4 possible brands of audio encoders: Sonifex PS-SEND, Barix Instreamer, Bric-Link, Outcaster OC100.
All have their pro's and cons.

Hardware-based Icecast source client
Hi all,
I'm in the midst of creating a turnkey Icecast source client embedded in
a plug computer, using Ices2.
I've hacked together some scripts to automate the starting and stopping
of a live stream (launched by pressing buttons on the device). It's dead
easy once the network/server is configured - you just plug it in, push a
button and you're live.
It accepts any Debian

I would assume only Ices1, if any - their product page says MP3/PCM support.

Speex problem installing on CentOS 5.3
Hello, all. I am delightfully slogging my way through installing and
configuring Asterisk 1.6.1.1 on CentOS 5.3. I'm learning lots and
admiring the product but I'm having a problem getting speex to install
and I would very much like to use it. It is not available in menuselect
and the problem appears to be with speex_preprocess_ctl:

Yes the barix extreamers work fine with icecast. I used to use them as studio to transmitter links for a radio station.

MOH from RCA jack?
Been around asterisk for two-plus years, but need a little input from the
list on this topic.
Have a potential client that wants to replace their old key system with *,
but they want to integrate a commercial message service (they pay a monthly
fee to have special MOH messages generated) into their system. The messages
are essentially delivered to this customer via older generation audio

CDR with conference asterisk 12
Hello,
Anyone see this issue, I have a conference bridge setup for a church with a Barix unit that streams audio into the bridge.
The bridge is started by calling in to a number that executes a call file and the system calls the Barix unit starting the broadcast.
Users then call in and can listen to the sermons live. The system works flawless with 1 issue I can't get accurate cdr's.

Asterisk / Trixbox 2.6 Streaming MOH Problems
I've tried a number of solutions, but I've been unable to get Asterisk
working with streaming MOH without running into the "buffer" issue.
I've tried using various combinations madplay, mpg123, mpg321. I've
also tried streamplayer by itself, and in combination with play-fifo (
http://www.freeswitch.org/asterisk_stuff/play-fifo.c ) to try and
eliminate the issue.

answer to recent post
Hi there, I just saw this post on the mailing list.
Quite some users in the broadcast industry use our "Instreamer", a
real-time embedded mp3 encoder. It has an S/PDIF interface (unfortunately
no AES/EBU) but there are inexpensive converters from AES/EBU to S/PDIF.
And the Instreamer itself is also considered very inexpensive.

a dedicated audio encoder
Hi!
I've just set up Raspberry Pi with external USB soundcard and the
Darkice encoder. Seems to be working just fine (25% CPU utilization).
Check this for a writeup on that:
