Samba 3.6.5, idmap configuration and WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND
Hello all, I recently upgraded from Samba 3.5.6 (the version contained in Debian Stable) to Samba 3.6.5 (the version from Debian Backports) in an effort to closer track the current development to try and chase some long standing bugs out. I think I've resolved one problem but introduced another. I'm getting the "WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND" when I try to perform a SID to UID

configs
I'm seeing very long delays the first time winbind accesses the network. See: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=496569 I've tried lots of things, down to stripping the config to a bare minimum for ADS security and even killing ipv6 support on the box. Nothing has resolved this. Does anyone see anything obviously wrong with this configuration that might cause a very long

I changed the path of my share : [homes] comment = User Home Folder path = /home/%U read only = no follow symlinks = yes wide links = yes browseable = no hide files = /desktop.ini/$RECYCLE.BIN/ I need Wide Links because in the share there are symbolics links to outside the share. Domain member (2k8R2) server, problem mapping Kerberos/NSS users
Hi list, I'm trying to set up a simple fileserver (Samba 4.1.6 on Ubuntu 14.04) as domain member, which delegates user authentication to AD (2k8R2) via Kerberos/NSS ? SSSD without using Winbind. I have SSSD up and running and things like getent passwd some-domain-user getent group some-domain-group chown some-domain-user:some-domain-group /tmp/foobar work just fine and show the

Automatic creation of local users
I’ve actually found a solution to my problem, but I wanted to post it here, since someone else might have the problem in the future, and I think it would be nice if I could spare them the week of Googling I needed. Basically, I have an AD member server, running Samba 4.2.10 (on Centos 7.2.1511). Here’s my smb.conf: [global]         workgroup = SUBDOMAIN         server string = Samba Server

Public Share on Samba with ADS security
Hello, list; This is my second try asking for help. One person responded and provided help, but I still can't seem to work this out. I've searched, but have failed. I'm not new to Samba, but I can and do make mistakes...so here I am. I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 with Samba 3.6.18. I have Kerberos properly configured and have successfully joined the domain, and can list

Troubleshooting high CPU load
I'm investigating high CPU load on a domain member server (file server) after an upgrade from 4.5.5 to 4.6.2. The problem continued after a subsequent upgrade to 4.6.7. I turned up the log level to 3 for a short time and looked at the logs. One thing I notice is some entries like this: [2018/01/24 18:28:37.933498, 3] ../source3/auth/user_krb5.c:164(get_user_from_kerberos_info)

Again guest access and machine account...
I'm still fighting a bit with guest access to shares via machine account. Little fast rewind: i'm using samba 4.5.8+dfsg-2+deb9u1~bpo8+1 (louis packages), and i use an SCM system called WPKG to deploy ad manage windows machine; that system do their works as SYSTEM account on local windows workstation. If the machine account (say, MALCOBB$) have a valid UID/GID, machine account are used
