Homedir access rights and running KDE
Hello,
I use pam_winbind for users authentification and pam_mount for mounting homedirs stored on w2k3 fiel server.
I still have two more problems to solve:
1. I?m not able to set proper access rights on homedir. I want to set
them to 700 but after mounting the homedir access rights are set to 777.
I used to use pam_mkhomedir umask=0077 attribute to set proper rights,
but this have no effect

umask and mails
Hello.
I would like to have rights like 750 in my mailboxes
(in /var/mail/vmails/domain.tld/user).
http://wiki.dovecot.org/DovecotServerInstallations/RHEL/2_Users?highlight=(mask)
I see an option called umask (in dovecot.conf). I set umask = 0750 in
dovecot.conf.
This option add good rights to directories, but not to the mail
received (always in 700).
Do you have a solution?
Thanks.

umask setting in /etc/profile not working
Hey all,
We have the following set in /etc/profile :
umask 0002
so that it will affect all users. That should create all files as 664 and
all directories as 775 if I'm not mistaken.
Well I logged into the machine after this was set and just created a file
as one of the users who complained about permissions settings on files. And
this is what I saw:

BUG: messages created with permissions not respecting umask
Using dovecot 1.0rc15, together with postfix and dovecot-lda.
umask is set to 0007. This should ensure directories and files get
created with read/write permissions for both user and group.
However, dovecot-lda writes files with 600 permissions, instead of 660.
So dovecot does not seem to respect the umask configuration property for
local mail delivery.
In my particular case, I have

File permission umask howto?
I'm trying to figure out how to cause rsync to
create the file on the backup server with 700 permission
and specific owner "some_user" (not root)
I try to do it in several way with no success.
The command I'm using is:
rsync -r -t -v -z /dir some_user@server::module
so that it don't copy permission
It always give the files 744 permission, that mean that every on can read

dovecot umask for mail boxes
I want to control the mode of newly created boxes.
The official documentation here:
https://wiki.dovecot.org/SharedMailboxes/Permissions , under Permissions
for new mailboxes says this:
"When creating a new mailbox, Dovecot copies the permissions from the
mailbox root directory. For example with mboxes if you have directories"
But it seems to be untrue. I checked it, it soesn't

changing umask on project/tmp files?
Is there anyway inside of rails to change the umask on the files
created in the "tmp" directory? I tried adding "File.umask 0000" to
config/enviroment.rb and no go. I''m afraid I''m a complete noob when it
comes to ruby and rails.
Here''s the situation. We''re trying to set up a RoR development
enviroment, but the files for most of our

A Couple Of Issues (APOP Causes Auth SIGSEGV, Umask Setting Ineffective)

Hi,
I'm very happy with Dovecot and wish the best for its continued
development. It's a true testament to brilliant componentised design and
Unix philosophy. Configuration made easy because of the way the file is
parsed and a single point of startup make it ridiculously straightforward
(and lovely) to administer. But of course, we all

SFTP subsystem and umask
Hello,
I have noticed that the -u parameter to the sftp-server or internal-sftp subsystem is not working correctly. For openssh-5.6p1 I believe that the problem lies in this code, starting at line 1414 in sftp-server.c:
----------------------------------------------------------
case 'u':
mask = (mode_t)strtonum(optarg, 0, 0777, &errmsg);
if (errmsg != NULL)

File permissions and Unix umask.
Hi,
I have a question about file permissions and how they are affected by a
client's umask.
To illustrate my question, I issued the following commands first on a
local ext3 file system and
then on a cifs file system:
$ umask 0002
$ touch f1
$ echo xx > f2
$ umask 0022
$ touch f3
$ echo xx > f4
$ ls -l
On Ext3, the output is:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 abdv29 users 0 Oct 9 00:31 f1
-rw-rw-r-- 1

tftpd-hpa: unixperms and umask
Hello,
I have tried setting umask 0027 for tftpd, so files are created with
permissions 0640.
However, tftpd-hpa refused uploading a file with error
"must have global write permissions".
Looking at the source, I could avoid this issue by using "-p" option.
However, it also seems that the umask is not applied when the "-p" option is
used.
Can anyone explain this
