Using Dovecot-auth to return error code 450 (or other 4xx) to Postfix when user is on vacation
Hello to all members. I am using Dovecot for 5 years, but this is my first post here. I am aware of the various autoresponder scripts for vacation autoreplies (I am using Virtual Vacation 3.1 by Mischa Peters). I have an issue with auto-replies - it is vulnerable to spamming with forged email address. Forging can be prevented with several Postfix settings, which I did in the past - but was forced

[Colin Watson <cjw44@cam.ac.uk>] Bug#49902: [PATCH] Bug#49902: ssh and pam conspire to deny logins
Hi, Here's a helpful patch from one of our (Debian's) users. I'd guess that the similar if/xfree a few lines above in the #if PAM section could do with the same treatment. Cheers, Phil. --[[message/rfc822]] Date: Sat, 29 Jan 2000 11:11:32 +0000 From: Colin Watson <cjw44 at cam.ac.uk> To: 49902 at bugs.debian.org [Bug was that when sshing one's password is denied,

Winbind fails w/ 3beta3
I'm having an unusual problem with my new samba servers. Notice, servers is plural, meaning all of my new servers are experiencing exactly the same problem at different times throughout the day, which leads me to believe that the "problem" is not with samba but with my Win2k server. However, I still need help in determining what is causing the problem... At various times during

vacation script
hi All, One of my users created this sieve script via roundcube's avelsieve implementation: # This script has been automatically generated by avelsieve # (Sieve Mail Filters Plugin for Squirrelmail) # Warning: If you edit this manually, then the changes will not # be reflected in the users' front-end!

Best way to migrate from qmail-ldap's autoreply?
Hi, qmail-ldap uses four LDAP attributes for handling autoreplies in qmail-local: - deliverymode (to see whether the autoreply should be send) - mailreplytext, which is a base64 encoded multiline string* - mailreplystart and mailreplystop, unix dates I'm wondering how this could be handled with Dovecot (2.0) in the most easier way. All I could find out so far: - patching the code - writing

On2 VP3 codec for Intel macs
Hi all, It's been a few years since I encoded a number of movies using the VP3 codec (v3.2) on my Quicksilver PPC. Now I have a new Intel mac and I'd like to play them. However, it seems that the codec offered on On2's website is only for the PPC architecture. Does anyone know a workaround or some other codec that works on the MacIntel platform? I'm using Quicktime Pro 7.

Sieve, vacation, variables and russian language
Folks, I'm using a Sieve script for vacation messages and there's something strange with it in certain cases. The script uses the "variables" extension to produce the "Re: [original subject] (autoreply)" subject line for the vacation message. All is well except for cases when that [original subject] is written in Russian. In those cases the subject string is

Valid Users in Samba 3
All - I'm having a problem with the "valid users" directive working. I have an Accounting share that only the Accounting department should have access to. However, I am unable to lock the directory down so only they can access it. I am running samba-3.0.0-2 from an RPM on RedHat 9.0. Below are details of my trials. This is a pretty urgent need, please. Thank you! smb.conf

sieve vacation: write to the .lda-dupes database without generating a vacation response.
I'm using Dovecot's sieve extensions quite happily, they are very good! Thanks for all who worked on them. I have a question that maybe is appropriate for a sieve-specific discussion list, so if there is one I should post to instead, please let me know: I've poked through the sieve vacation RFC and all the documentation I can find and I cannot figure out how to do this. It's

How does sieve's vacation keep track of duplicates?
I see the .dovecot.lda-dupes file that is created, but it doesn't seem like just plain text, and it doesn't seem to include strings of the senders, just the recipient. But I know the vacation functionality is clever enough to keep track of who it's already autoreplied to. On a related note, I'm curious about other smarts built in to sieve's vacation responder -- what other

AJAX works in Safari, broken in Firefox
I''ve been working on an AJAX search, very similar to the Flickr one in the screencast linked from the main rails page. I''ve been doing my testing in Safari, where everything has worked fine, only to now discover the results of the search action seem disinclined to load in Firefox. I can enter a URL to return the HTML fragment that''s supposed to be dropped into

Printer driver problems - HELP!!!
I have a printer that requires each user to have the ability to modify his/her defaults without administrator intervention. This printer is a Canon ImageRunner 5000. Each user has the option of setting the "Printing Preferences" to either print directly or to a mailbox on the printer. Up to this point (three weeks now), I have been unable to accomplish this simple task. For all

MS PhotoDraw save problems
All - I'm having an unusual problem with MS PhotoDraw opening and saving files to my Samba server. When I open the file, all's fine. When I try to save the file, I get an error message that says "Unable to save the file. <Filename> could not be found." At this point I have to navigate to the directory where the file was and save it. However, when watching WinExplorer

sieve & vacation - ignores "days" parameter
Hi, I am going further with dovecot configuration. Finally managed to configure roundcube 0.3 with managesieve plugin. And it works, although... not perfectly :( For some issues probably roundcube-managesieve is guilty, but simply the sieve plugins seems to work wrong. Here is my sieve file: require ["vacation","fileinto"]; # rule:[wakacje] if anyof (true) {

OpenSSH 2.2.0p1 + Redhat 6.2 - Problem with scp
Hi, Chances are this is me stuffing something up, but in cases its not, this is my problem. I've just installed the latest port of OpenSSH on a few Redhat 6.2 machines. That is version 2.2.0p1. Everything compiles ok, and using the supplied init and pam files I got openssh working without to much difficulty. In fact it was easier than the commerical versions. I can use ssh to login to remote
