Miktex does not work with R CMD check

Error in FrF2 example on Mac OS

Problem with umlaut on windows server

Umlaut read from csv-file
Dear All! Reading character strings containing an "umlaut" from a csv-file I find a (to me) surprising behaviour in R 2.8.0, that I did not notice in R 2.7.2. A comparison by "==" results in FALSE, while grep does find the aggreement. See the example below. Problems with Win-Username containing a "Umlaut"

hi all, we want to use samba to connect a windows machine and a linux server, the linux machine should read the windows-filesystem to backup it. in samba 2.xx we wasn't able to teach samba the german umlauts or filenames containing a blank. we tried the character substitution in smb.conf and of course we called smbmount with iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=cp850, but unforunatly it doesn't

German umlauts
Hi there! I want to use icecast2 for streaming and have mp3 with german umlauts. On the status page all characters are shown corretly (utf8), but in itunes the characters are miss spelled. Problem with German Umlauts

mount.cifs and Umlaut in share name
Hello, I need to mount a CIFS share (in the end via fstab, for now manually from terminal) which has both a space and a german umlaut in its name. I cannot get mount.cifs to mount it, it always complains it cannot find it. Umlaut over I on Definity display
I've successfully integrated * to a Definity G3SI PBX via PRI. On calls from the * box to a Definity display telephone a umlaut over an I appears at the beginning of the caller name on the Definity display. Anyone seen this before? Thanks... Bud
