Hey guys, i tried to create a simple rsync script that should create daily backups from a ZFS storage and put them into a timestamp folder. After creating the initial full backup, the following backups should only contain "new data" and the rest will be referenced via hardlinks (-link-dest) This was at least a simple enough scenario to achieve it with my pathetic scripting skills.

Hi Eric and list, I had another production VM start pausing itself.  This one had been running for more than 4 years on a 60G LVM volume.  It has had the occasional snapshot during that time though all have been "removed" using the virt-manager gui so I used qemu-img as you suggested. # qemu-img convert /dev/trk-kvm-02-vg/rt44 -O qcow2 /mnt/scratch/rt44.qcow2 dd'd the qcow2

Hi By accident I found out what I have to do!!! I am super happy. I did mention in my first post that I added the corresponding rights to the user. Unfortunately that was on the wrong level. I assigned the rights (in the unix file system with setfacl) to the folder on the level /mnt/volume1/homes/user2. That was the issue.
