Classic Upgrade: Unable to enumerate group memberships
Hello. I'm using Version 4.0.8-SerNet-Ubuntu-5.precise (Also, a heads up on
this release; the folder /var/run/samba must be created upon reboot. When
starting Samba I get this error:
ERROR: can't open /var/run/samba/samba.pid: Error was No such file or
directory)
So anyway, when trying to do a classic upgrade/migration in order to
preserve authentication information on a new domain. After

During the installation which is triggered by "make install" waf complains
about some task dependency cycle after leaving folder bin/default.

Hi
I want to build samba-4.10.0 for SUSE openLeap 15.1. Config and make
works fine but make install sucks:

--with-cachedir=/var/lib/samba --with-lockdir=/var/lib/samba/lock
--with-logfilebase=/var/log/samba --with-modulesdir=/usr/lib64/samba

Samba4 and classicupgrade and winbind
Hi,
I found the source of my problem with set_nt_acl_no_snum: fset_nt_acl
returned NT_STATUS_INVALID_OWNER (I hope).
The problem is dut to winbind.
In my ldap tree, I have uid and gid.
Why samba 4 don't use theses informations ?
In attached file : output of classic-upgrade (debug level 5)
I don't want to use winbind.
I just want to use pam_ldap or nslcd for have unix information

samba 4 classicupgrade w7 clients errors
I had a test environment with a few hundreds of users using Windows 7 under
a samba 3 domain.
They had the registry tweaks required to join a samba 3 domain.
I followed the classicupgrade migration to samba 4 and everything seemed to
be ok.
In my scenario I have a DNS server different from the samba server, and the
DNS server forwards all queries to my samba domain to the samba server.
The samba

segmentation fault in classicupgrade
Hi all,
Is this something I should report in bugzilla? In my smb3.conf I have
vfs object = recycle full_audit crossrename
and when doing a classicupgrade, I'm getting a segmentation fault. It
doesn't finish. (tried 4.1.2, 4.1.3, 4.1.4)
When removing the line, the classicupgrade finishes successfully.
It's easy to get around, but wouldn't it be nicer not to crash..?

sssd / classicupgrade / computer accounts
Hi all,
After classicupgrade my machine accounts are placed in a separate
CN=Computers, with objectclasses:
- posixAccount
- person
- organisationalPerson
- user
- computer
Taking my sssd configuration from
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Local_user_management_and_authentication/sssd,
I have this config:
...
ldap_user_object_class = user
...
Meaning all my computer accounts are included in

Classicupgrade loses shares ?
Hi,
I'm trying to do a classicupgrade of my old samba3-server (using tdb).
The upgrade tool seems to run fine, I see no errors. But the resulting
smb.conf does not contain shares. The original had several. Is this
expected ? Or is this implying some error somewhere.
Testing gives :
smbclient -L localhost -U%
session setup failed : NT_STATUS_INVALID_NETWORK_RESPONSE
FWIW, I'm using

adjust DC name after classicupgrade
Hi,
I'm going classicupgrade our samba3 to samba4 next weekend, and suddenly
realised something:
I intent to keep my samba3 PDC machine called 'filehost' as a member
server, to only serve files. However, after classicupgrade my new
(freshly installed) DC1 will of course have the netbios name from my
'old' samba3 machine. ('filehost')
Meaning I end up with two

Samba3 to Samba4 Group Migration during classicupgrade
Hey everyone...
I'm testing samba3 to samba4 migration and I'm having a problem with
group migration.
Basically, when I run classicupgrade, he keeps warning about group
membership. I increase log level and it tells that the group that some
users belongs to don't exist.
Is there anyway to tell samba classicupgrade to import groups first and
then do the rest?
Kind regards,
Bruno

Classicupgrade does not import all group-memberships
Hi,
I am trying to migrate my old samba3 PDC (with tdb-files) to samba4 AD,
on ubuntu 12.04LTS.
I first tried L.P.H. van Belle's script to have a base-line. Works fine
AFAIK.
Then I modified the script to do a classic-upgrade. It seems to work,
but when I look at my groups (samba-tool group list), not all
groupsmemberships are imported. One of those are my domain-admins.
When I check

duplicate sids against classicupgrade
Hi,
I have a working Samba3 domain with 3.6 servers. Samba runs on Debian
Wheezy and has openldap backend. I'm going to upgrade to Sernet Samba 4.1.
I copied the pdc to a virtual machine to test the upgrade process.
According to the wiki I cannot have duplicate sids, but I have about
fourty. It seems they are the same that the net groupmap list command gives.
Some smb.conf parameters:
