Major problem with software raid
Ok, this is the case: I've got two raid-5 arrays with software raid, both with three disks. Setup: md0 has hdb2, hdd1 and sda1 md1 has hdb5, hdd3 and sda3 Tonight, the system lost power due to a power spike. The result was a reboot where it attempted to fix the raid, but it didn't exactly work. I have now booted a live CD and using utilities there. It seems the checksum value is

Problem with mdadm, raid1 and automatically adds any disk to raid
Hi. CENTOS 7.6.1810, fresh install - use this as a base to create/upgrade new/old machines. I was trying to setup two disks as a RAID1 array, using these lines mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=0 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1 mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md1 --level=0 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb2 /dev/sdc2 mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md2 --level=0 --raid-devices=2

Cannot re-make a software raid pair
Apologies if you get this twice - the first one didn't seem to make it... Hi Guys, I have just replaced a faulty Max...woah, wait...this one's a Seagate... IDE hard disk but I cannot remake the software raid pair. The currently running disk is hda and I am trying to add back hdg - both are master drives on separate controllers. I have run fdisk on hdg and created the same partition

Problems with rpmforge repo?
Hello, Tried yum update all yesterday and today and seems there is a perl dependency missing. Does anyone know if it is a problem or just a sync thing and that I should be more patient. Error is below: --> Processing Dependency: perl(Compress::Raw::Zlib) >= 2.020 for package: perl-IO-Compress --> Finished Dependency Resolution perl-IO-Compress-2.020-1.el5.rf.noarch from rpmforge has

Raid issue
I am curious about something. I have a friend that made a software raid 1 partition across a 250 gig 7200 rpm drive and an 80 gig 7200 rpm hard disk drive. he shut the system down normally to clean it out and when it came back up he gets the following: a superblock on /dev/md0 failed would mdadm --assemble --force fix it or lead to more damage? -- My "Foundation" verse: Isa 54:17

Question about RAID 5 array rebuild with mdadm
I'm using Centos 4.5 right now, and I had a RAID 5 array stop because two drives became unavailable. After adjusting the cables on several occasions and shutting down and restarting, I was able to see the drives again. This is when I snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Please, someone with vast knowledge of how RAID 5 with mdadm works, tell me if I have any chance at all

How to enable my RAID again
Hi I have setup software RAID two years ago using FC3 using the graphical installer (RAID1). In the mean time I installed CENTOS4.5 and everything is running fine. At least that was my perception. It now turns out that raid is not working and that LVS just finds 4 partitions from four disks and that's it.: /dev/sda2 VolGroup00 lvm2 a- 94.88G 0 /dev/sdb1 VolGroup00 lvm2 a-

Lost mdadm.conf
Hi, I lost my mdadm.conf (and /proc/mdadm shows nothing useful) and I'd like to mount the filesystem again. So I've booted using rescue but I was wondering if I can do a command like this safely (i.e without losing the data previously stored). mdadm -C /dev/md0 --level=raid0 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1 Where of course the raid devices and the /dev/x are the correct ones

RAID5 suddenly broken
Hello, I have a RAID5 array on my CentOS 5.6 x86_64 workstation which "suddenly" failed to work (actually after the system could not resume from a suspend). I had recently issues after moving the workstation to another office, where one of the disks got accidently unplugged. But the RAID was working and it had reconstructed (as far as I can tell) the data. After I replugged the disk,

Software raid tutorial and hardware raid questions.
I remember seeing one with an example migrating from an old fashioned filesystem on a partition to a new filesystem on a mirrored lvm logical volume but one only one side of the mirror is set up at this time. First I need to copy stuff from what will become the second side of the mirror to filesystem on the first side or the mirror Then I will be ready to follow the rest of the tutorial and

mdadm --create on Centos5?
Is there some new trick to making raid devices on Centos5? # mdadm --create /dev/md3 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdc1 /dev/sdc1 mdadm: error opening /dev/md3: No such file or directory I thought that worked on earlier versions. mdadm help
Hey List, So I had a 4 drive software RAID 5 set up consisting of /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdc1, /dev/sdd1 and /dev/sde1. I reinstalled my OS and after the reinstall I made the mistake of re-assembling the array incorrectly by typing "sudo mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd /dev/sde" in a moment of stupidity. Obviously this didn't work and the array wouldn't mount and
