samba 4.1.3 -- multiple bugs & 1, 297 coredumps -- coredump backtrace + full-backtrace included
Hello,
A few months ago the distribution I use (Debian Testing) moved from Samba 3
to Samba 4 - I started seeing a lot of problems. Since then there are two
bugs I find occurring on a regular basis:
1. Consistent dumping core on a regular basis (very rarely, if ever
occurred with Samba 3)
a. $ ls -ltr *core*smbd* |wc -l
b. 1297
c. $ du -ach *core*smbd*|tail -n 1

Samba is still crashing
I have had a problem for a couple of weeks now. I get very regular
crashes on two of my three Domain Controllers.
I just updated to 4.1.0 and I am still getting the same problem.
I have added panic action = /bin/sleep 99999 to my config.
Here is a back trace for the crash.

Panic or segfault in Samba 3.6.1 - Debian testing
Since upgrading to 3.6.1 in Debian testing, I receive a panic/segfault
message with each print job. Printing succeeds and continues to work,
but an email with the info below is sent each time.
The system is standalone. Kernel is 3.1.0-1-686-pae, and the system is
fully updated. testparm returns no errors.
Does this mean anything to anyone?

Samba 4.7.1 Generating Core Dumps
Hi,
We are having issues with our samba server running on CentOS 7. It's generating core dumps and dumping them in the / (root filesystem) directory in the form of core.##### where the # is a series of numbers.
Snippets of log files and some troubleshooting commands are below. Hope someone can have a look and see if I should file this as a bug, as there were similar posts in the samba

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: fix vbios load and check functions on PowerPC
From: Andrea Tacconi <tacconet at libero.it>
Subject: [PATCH] drm/nouveau: fix vbios load and check functions on PowerPC
On PowerPC the Bios signature reports a wrong lenght of video rom.
Fix this by reading the correct size from Open Firmware.
Set Pramin as primary vbios searching method, because it's the only working method on PowerPC.
The nv_cksum function always fails.
Fix this

PATCH: Asserting that 'connection' used has not changed + R_GetConnection2()
SUMMARY:
I'm proposing that R assert that 'connection' options have not changed
since first created such that R will produce the following error:

smbd crashes repeatedly
Samba 3.6.3 on arch linux x86_64 member of an NT4 domain with winbindd
Clients' shares become temporary unavailable after unsuccessful open of
files.
Happens after server has run for some time.
I'm unsure if some configuration error could be involved (have researched
for some hours) or it is a bug-file candidate?

smb_panic with 4.0.0rc2 on Debian Squeeze
Hi,
I have successfully compiled and installed Samba 4.0.0rc2 on Debian
Squeeze as described in the Wiki. In order to support Win XP and Win 7
clients, I have created GPOs for folders redirection. The problem I am
facing is with random PANIC messages in the logs and logon/logoff/file
access process gets hung on the client.
Here are the logs:

open 2nd pdf on dfs share with Acrobat Reader not possible
Hello everybody,
after updating samba from Version 4.9.1 to 4.10.4 (Centos 7)
opening a PDF Document in Acrobat Reader with a double click,
when the document resides on a dfs share, is only possible for the 1st
document.
I know, this is not not a samba bug, because windows 2019 Server behaves
the same, i just want to share my findings.
