Help with RandomForest
I'm working with the randomForest package and have successfully build a model. I'd like to go one step further however, and use the output from the model to construct a map using the output. My input data are spatial, and I have an independent set of rasterize maps for each of the predictor variables, to map the classification solution. Using the getTree function: >

Help ~
Dear Helper: Thank you very much for your time on this question. It is a little long and complicated. Generate a clustered pattern in [0; 1]2 as follows: (a) Generate n, say 20, independent cluster centers (which can be called parents) that are distributed i.i.d. uniformly in the unit square; (b) then m,say 100, daughters are assigned i.i.d. uniformly to these parents and such that each

Sorting Data?
Hello, Im reading through some manuals, but I cannot find my answer. I have a file containing many data: Vpn Code Family Age F1 F2 ... F17 1 1 M 46 1 2 ... 1 2 1 D 18 3 2 ... 4 3 2 M 50 3 3 ... 3 ... and so on. Now I can read it by: F = read.table("file", header=T) but now I want to seperate the mothers (M) and daugthers (D) of the family with all the data in all other fields.

Question on overdispersion
I have a few questions relating to overdispersion in a sex ratio data set that I am working with (note that I already have an analysis with GLMMs for fixed effects, this is just to estimate dispersion). The response variable is binomial because nestlings can only be male or female. I have samples of 1-5 nestlings from each nest (individuals within a nest are not independent, so the response

Automount configuration problem
I have a simple automount configuration problem. I've done two similar, clean, Custom installations of CentOS 5.0, on two similar, but not identical boxes. On my box, automount is working perfectly. On my daughter's box, it's not working. If I put the FC6 DVD into the drive in my box, I can see the contents of the DVD, without any problem. If I cat /etc/mtab in my box, I see this line:

Classification tree data structure
Hi there, I am growing classification trees using the 'tree' package add-on to R. I would like to convert the 'R' output to the SAS format used by Salford Systems' commercial CART software in order to interface with some other software. My question is: How can I parse the R tree data structure in order to infer the tree structure? The 'tree' class has a member

VoiPSupply Dot Com: Epilogue
LOL - You mean he actually 'met' Newt Gingrich? How dare you not extend him credit!!! I mean seriously... For such a distinguished individual... Hey, not only have I met the heads of several multi-billion dollar corps, I have gotten absolutely blasted drunk with them. So I should get credit, a 40% discount, and your daughters phone number, right??? LOL Seriously, though. I think it

database lookup
Hi all, I'm looking for an easy way to lookup numbers from the database so I can fork calls from my daughters friends onto her IP phone/answering system. I'm looking for something very similar to LookupBlacklist, but I'm already using LookupBlackist to filter out telemarketers. What I'm doing now is adding multiple exten=> lines to my extensions.conf file to match those

SOLVED: Re: Dual boot box: WinXP & CentOS 5: Impossible to restore WinXP?
Some thoughts, for anyone faced with this type of problem on a dual boot box in the future: My first thought was to try to Rescue the WinXP Spanish language installation that came on the Dell Dimension 2400, out of the Dell factory. Later, I decided to wipe the entire drive, since I now have a WinXP English language Restore CD and I wanted to redo CentOS5, so I would have room to experiment with

"yum update" did not update kernel on one box
This morning, I did "yum update" on my wife's box. It did not update the kernel. I ran the command again, and there is a response that no updates are available. Her box is a Compaq Evo D300v Celeron. During the past couple of days, when I did "yum update", on my daughters box and mine (Dell Dimensions), the kernel was updated and in the GRUB menus now, there are two (2)

Pruning trees in a Random Forest
Hi all! The randomForest in R enables us to prune the trees using the nodesize feature where we can stop splitting a node if it contains less than the specified no.of of records/entities at that node. However is there a way to stop the tree growing after a specified number of levels. To be more clear on what I mean by a level. Level 0 is the parent node, Level 1 has 2 daughter nodes, Level 2 has

Partioning Error: Dual Boot, WinXP & CentOS5, 27 GB Free space; my error is?
Hello: Starting Friday afternoon, I blew away the installations on the three (3) boxes we use as Desktops. On two (2) of them (my Dell Dimension 2400 and my wife's Compaq Evo D300v), I have MS Windows XP and CentOS5 running. :-) On my daughters box (Dell Dimension 4300) I am having problems with the partitioning. Probably this is due to some mistake I have made, with regard to

KStars on CentOS 4.4?
Is there an RPM for this? I think it's in the kdeedu package on the FC6 DVD. My wife is an amateur astronomer and she uses this excellent program. If upstream isn't including it, can I get it and not break my CentOS 4.4 system? (Also, I'd like to migrate her and my daughter to CentOS). TIA, Lanny

Thing is, the sha1sum was the same as the first time I downloaded the ISO so there was no corruption to speak of. I really don't know why it wasn't working before. I haven't done much in the preview except try out Spartan and do some configuration. I like the UI design.

DVD reader: Hardware problem or OS glitch?
Hello: The box is dual boot (Win XP & CentOS 5). A Dell Dimension 4300 Celeron. There was an intermittent problem with this last year and last Thanksgiving, I wiped the HD and installed Win XP and CentOS 5 clean. My daughter asked me to install KStars which is in the kdeedu RPM on the Fedora Core 6 Install DVD. I did that, without any problems, on my box and on my wife's box. On the

Generating list of vector coordinates
Hi. Can anyone suggest a simple way to obtain in R a list of vector coordinates of the following form? The code below is Mathematica. In[5]:= Flatten[Table[{i,j,k},{i,3},{j,4},{k,5}], 2] Out[5]= {{1,1,1},{1,1,2},{1,1,3},{1,1,4},{1,1,5},{1,2,1},{1,2,2},{1,2,3},{1 ,2,4},{1,2, 5},{1,3,1},{1,3,2},{1,3,3},{1,3,4},{1,3,5},{1,4,1},{1,4,2},{1,4,3}, {1,4,
