Crash and automatical reboot when using the NVIDIA card
Hello there, I'm running a Supermicro server with the latest CentOS 6.4 versions (kernel : 2.6.32-358.23.2.el6.x86_64) and the latest nvidia driver (331.20). A few minutes after using the GPU for doing some HPC calculations, the server crashes and reboots itself. This is happening every time. I know it will be rebooted but I don't know when. Sometimes it's 20 minutes after starting

centos 6.2_x86_64, get black screen with blinking cursor after select item from GRUM menu.
Hi, all: I'm using centos 6.2-x86_64, the built-in kernel version is 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64. Now I compiled kernel of version of linux-2.6.32-220.23.1.el6.x86_64, which get from kernel-2.6.32-220.23.1.el6.src.rpm. I have put vmlinuz and initramfs into /boot directory, as follow: [kdev at panda boot]$ ll /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-* ./initramfs-2.6.32-* -rwxr-xr-x. 1 root

XKB: Failed to compile keymap
I had to stop using the fglrx video driver from ELRepo, which isn't supported with CentOS 6.4. Now I can't start X; I get the following: > (II) [KMS] Kernel modesetting enabled. > The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: > Error: Cannot open "/tmp/server-0.xkm" to write keyboard > description > Exiting > The XKEYBOARD

how best to rollback from a yum update?
Suppose I want to upgrade a bunch of packages on a system, but in case the upgrade produces unexpected, undesired results, I want to be able to rollback the system to its original state. What is the best way to do that? Often, I won't have, or be able to find, packages for the current installed versions. I.e. If I haven't upgraded postgres for 2 years, it may be that I can no longer

directory /dev/disk/by-label
I am trying to create a CF card that boots 686 CentOS 6.3 On boot I get a message about /dev/disk/by-label/\x2f where \x2f is "/" cannot be found. Adding rdshell to the boot line and booting up sure enough the /dev/disk directory does not exist. What "creates" that early on in the boot process? My CF card was changed from UUID to LABEL. So I edited grub.conf and make

Hello there! I was running skype 4.1.0.20 on my 64-bit laptop for weeks (installed in /opt, from an official skype binary archive, plus few 32-bit stuff to get it working), when suddenly it stopped working, no way to start it: $ skype Fatal: QWidget: Must construct a QApplication before a QPaintDevice Aborted A quick search on the Internet brought some possible solution, basically

RPM file download
I see a package "x246-0.120-5.20120303.el6 (i686)" available in my Add/Remove Software tool. I can't find said package in any of the repos I've searched through. Can anyone point me to a link where I can download that package to my local repo? -- _ ?v? /(_)\ ^ ^ Mark LaPierre Registerd Linux user No #267004 https://linuxcounter.net/ ****

copy/paste centos 6
I had to update all these packages on CentOS 6 for a project. Everything works great on CentOS 6 - except - Copy/Paste between applications. Anyone - know which application below might control that function? Example I cannot have firefox running and copy and paste text into thunderbird. Both applications - actually all applications work - I just cant copy/paste. I'm thinking I did not

how to stop cursor blinking in wine GUI
Hi all wine users and developers, I have a touch question which I have been searching answers for quite a long time to configure wine but still have not solved yet. Wine is the only Windows program simulator running in Linux which I use, however one thing annoying me is that currently the cursor is always blinking in the GUI. For example, the editplus running in wine. Something it really drives

CentOS 6 updating policy
I am migrating from debian to RHEL (CentOS) and I am wondering how the CentOS 6 updating system works. Suppose I install CentOS 6.1 now. Suppose in 8 months CentOS 6.2 is released. Now I issue a yum update, so my system will be updated to CentOS 6.2, or I will have an updated 6.1 ? What if I have been issuing yum update very day just to be sure there are no packages with urgent security bugs

After Windows login black screen with mouse cursor
In addition to what I have written I should say that I enabled SSSD on the DCs this week. Possibly this is the reason for this and sssd causes winbind problems on a DC? I will disable it to test. After Windows login black screen with mouse cursor
It's becoming really weird. I moved a client to a OU with no GPOs at all. "Please wait" lasts relatively long. "Welcome" too followed by black screen with mouse cursor only. No roaming profiles, no folder redirection. Event logs seem to offer nothing. Am 27. Februar 2015 14:27:03 MEZ, schrieb Sketch <smblist at rednsx.org>: >On Fri, 27 Feb 2015, Tim wrote: >

I did some more tests. I got the functionality back after switching the client to OU computer and doing a restart. It seems to depend on folder redirection. Am 27. Found it! Folder redirection of Desktop worked so far. But now it got confused for some Rea's n I don't know. Switched folder redirection back to local profile and it works again! After Windows login black screen with mouse cursor
Hello, I did an update from 4.1.16 to 4.1.17 yesterday and had some problems with it (using sernet package). But I think it is fine now: Replication works so far. Samba-tool drs showrepl has no failure and I created a user and it was instantly available on both DCs. This morning a lot of clients had the following issue: They were started as usual and the users do their login. But after this
