Migrate to Linux Server
Hi,
In our company we have a DL380 ( 16gb ram) server with Windows server 2003
x86, this run only tomcat 6.
We have 2 options: a) upgrade to windows 2008 x64 and b) migrate to Linux (
I mean centos 6 x64).
I want to make some benchmarks.
Please help me to compare a and b.
How I can make this benchmark?

Tomcat Linux/Windows Performance Question
Hi,
Now I have a windows 2008 server and a Tomcat 6.x on it.
Our application has many many parts and it's very big.
Actually we are not happy with tomcat performance, (We are working very
hard on developing that software and improving
performance) .
We want to improve application performance (working on it now) and tomcat
(by tuning and we are doing now) and finally OS, for this we want to

fraud advice
Hi,
Embarrassed as I am to write this, I am hoping for some advice. One of
our very first PBX installs, now six years old, was "taken advantage of"
over the past few weeks. A victim of sipvicious, I assume, that managed
to guess one of the SIP passwords. 4000 calls to various middle eastern
destinations have been placed, which ended up being sent over our
customer's PSTN

Listing help
Hi,
I''ve created a Rails application and am having a problem listing by a

not had success. Can anyone please outline a better set of instructions

Off-Topic: Crime Statistics Don't Pay

I thought readers of this list might enjoy the following. The link to

inappropriate.

[PATCH v2 0/6] Unmappable DRM client buffers for fbdev emulation
DRM client buffers are permanently mapped throughout their lifetime. This
prevents us from using generic framebuffer emulation for devices with
small dedicated video memory, such as ast or mgag200. With fb buffers
permanently mapped, such devices often won't have enough space left to
display other content (e.g., X11).

Comparing proportions between groups
Hello there,
I have two groups (men and women) and I know per group how many of them
smoke or don't smoke (women 40 of 200; men 100 of 300). I would like to know
how I can compare in R if men and women differ significantly in their
smoking. However, because there are more men in the sample than women I
cannot just compare the number of smokers and non-smokers in both groups,
right?! (I would

C_LogLin (stats/loglin)
Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding a C function of the "stats" package in R.
I tried to understand the ?loglin? basic function of the ?stats?
package implemented in
R. The implemented function itself runs without any problem (perhaps
see sample). When I
ran it line by line it stopped at the lines 23-24 of the
loglin-function; (the following line):

controlling the x axis of boxplots
v 2.0.1 (sooooh old!) on Win2k
I think I know the answer to this but I can hope ...
I have data for continuous variables (measures of residents) by a
categorical variable in range (1,22), the units in which they live.
I want to plot these data with a pair of boxplots one above another
with same x-axis (1,22) using par(mfrow=c(2,1)) and then plotting
first for the women then for the men.

graphs for pretest data
Is there an easy way to make graphs for the following data. I have
pretest and posttest scores for men and
women. I would like to form a 'titlted segment' plot for the data.
That is, make segments joining the scores,
with different types of segments for men and women.
Example data:
menpre <- c(43,42,26,39,60,60,46)
menpost <- c(40,41,36,42,54,58,43)

Missing dependency in C6 ISO
Greetings,
I had downloaded c6 64 bits ISO, selected all packages to be installed.
One dependency warning relating to Emacs appeared. I chose to
continue. Unfortunately I was multitasking and did not note down the
package name
Twice this issue appeared -- first time around aborted install due to power cut.
Did anybody else face this situation?
Also is there a better way with just DVDs and not
