libvirt on OpenStack
Hi, I am running OpenStack Cluster and use libvirt + cgroup to limit vm’s performance https://wiki.openstack.org/InstanceResourceQuota What I am confusing is.. 1. After running a vm instance with some croup limit applied, I can’t find any related cgroup settings. 2. Can I change limit value after instance is running? like change disk_read_iops_sec from 10 to 20. One of the xml file like below.

Block device IO limits
Hi all, is there a way to limit the throughput (or the number of operations per seconds) of a block device? I ask because I've a couple of misconfigured VMs that are performing a lot of disk activity (swapping I'd bet but I haven't access to their OS). Since their storage is on a NFS share they are slowing down other VMs on the same share. Thank you. Davide.

Writing a R-Script
Ist there a possibility to write a R-Script using something like #!/usr/bin/R and then alle the requestet commands? Of course "R CMD BATCH" exists, but there was (for me) no possibility to write something like a HERE-script. regards erkan -- ?ber den grenzen mu? die freiheit wohl wolkenlos sein

overriding shutdown for LXC
Moin Im using lxc at libvirt for LXC-applicationcontainer. Works quite nice for now, beside shutting down the container, which is not implemented. Hooks don't help here, as far as I found out. Is there a way to override/define the shutdown function? Regards Erkan -- ?ber den grenzen mu? die freiheit wohl wolkenlos sein

disk iotune
Hi, reading the below[1] on blkdeviotune made me wonder if we can dynamically change the values after the VM is already running using iotune. Is it supported? Thanks, Doron [1] https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_Virtualization_IO_Throttling

libvirt and lxc and puppet
Hoi, Im running some hosts with a lot of lxc-containers (lxc-execute). Now Im going to have a look into libvirt. So I wonder: Are there some docs about what lxc at libvirt is supporting? Imho you have a subset of the lxc-capabilities with libvirt. Anyone doing by any chance the same and using puppet to deploy (application)containers? So I could get a recommendation which module to use, instead

Hi all, I want to limit the I/O bandwidth inside the container, so I used virsh command blkiotune. But when I enter a command: virsh # blkiotune lxcguest --weight 250 I get following errors: error: Unable to change blkio parameters error: Requested operation is not valid: blkio cgroup isn't mounted I also have blkio cgroup mounted. What can be the problem? Thanks in advance. Regards,

cgroup blkio.weight working, but not for KVM guests
I'm running libvirt 0.10.2 and qemu-kvm-1.2.0, both compiled from source, on CentOS 6. I've got a working blkio cgroup hierarchy which I'm attaching guests to using the following XML guest configs: VM1 (foreground): <cputune> <shares>2048</shares> </cputune> <blkiotune> <weight>1000</weight> </blkiotune>

Question about blkiotune.device_weight
Hi, Hu Tao I noticed that in your patch about blkiotune.device_weight, You set the device blkio weight value between 100 and 1000. But from the kernel document, I see that the blkio weight can be set from 10 to 1000. Why do you limit the weight minimum to 100 rather than 10 ? Looking forward your explanation, thanks! -------------- Best regards! GuanQiang 2013-01-18

Move element into view
Hello, I am in fly-by mode as I am still more than busy, so I just dumb this one out for anyone interested. Adapt it for your needs if you like it. This effect is similar to ScrollTo, but scrolls the viewport vertically the minimal amount necessary to bring the element into view. Usage: new Effect.ScrollToFullView(element, {duration: 0.6, offset: 10}); Offset is the distance in pixel to the

libvirt blkiotune mechanism
Hello! We are using oVirt in our infrastructure, which uses libvirt as backend. Last time we needed to activate storage QoS aka libvirt blkiotune parameters. So some questions appeared about how libvirt limitation mechanism works: 1. What happened to overlimit storage traffic in small time period after we apply blkiotune parameters on high loaded virtual machine on fly: a) All over-limit
