[PATCH] v2v: copy-to-local: Remove references to using this tool for ESXi.
virt-v2v is capable of accessing ESXi hypervisors now. There is only one remaining use of this tool - when converting from Xen hypervisors over ssh which are using host block devices for storage. --- v2v/virt-v2v-copy-to-local.pod | 27 ++------------------------- 1 file changed, 2 insertions(+), 25 deletions(-) diff --git a/v2v/virt-v2v-copy-to-local.pod b/v2v/virt-v2v-copy-to-local.pod index

Re: Using certtool to generate certificates for ESXi
Hi Daniel, thanks for the reply - The procedure I use is the same as I use for XenServer, and the certificate exchange works just fine. The only thing I'm a bit unclear on, is the location of the CA cert, which in the case of XenServer, I simply put it in /etc/pki/CA. And when I start the libvirtd daemon, it successfully picks it up. If I put the Server key and cert in /etc/vmware/ssl for

VM Performance using KVM Vs. VMware ESXi
Hi All We are currently testing our product using KVM as the hypervisor. We are not using KVM as a bare-metal hypervisor. We use it on top of a RHEL installation. So basically RHEL acts as our host and using KVM we deploy guests on this system. We have all along tested and shipped our application image for VMware ESXi installations , So this it the first time we are trying our application

[PATCH v2 2/2] v2v: -i vmx: Enhance VMX support with ability to use ‘-it ssh’ transport.
This enhances the existing VMX input support allowing it to be used over SSH to the ESXi server. The original command (for local .vmx files) was: $ virt-v2v -i vmx guest.vmx -o local -os /var/tmp Adding ‘-it ssh’ and using an SSH remote path gives the new syntax: $ virt-v2v \ -i vmx -it ssh \ "root@esxi.example.com:/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/guest/guest.vmx" \ -o local

Using certtool to generate certificates for ESXi
Hello, I'm using certtool to generate the server certificates for ESXi - http://libvirt.org/remote.html#Remote_TLS_CA. I just copy the server certificate and key as /etc/vmware/ssl/rui.crt and /etc/vmware/ssl/rui.key. And then use virsh to connect from a CentOS 6.4 VM running on it - "virsh -c esx://<esx IP>. I get the following error - error: internal error curl_easy_perform()
