automatically detaching PCI host devices from guest for SRIOV usage.
Dear List ,
We are using intel 82599EB based SRIOV capable 10GbE cards
on the host machine. The VFs are being assigned to the guest
in pass through mode and are providing the network connectivity
as expected.
However when we shutdown the guest the connectivity does not

Bug in cfdisk?
Hi,
I'm currently working through Sander Van Vugt's "Beginning the Linux
Command Line" (Apress), just for fun. Right now I'm just trying out all
the examples in chapter 5, dedicated to managing partitions and logical
volumes. After some work with fdisk (which I normally use), the book
introduces cfdisk (which I've been using in Slackware days). Curiously
enough,

Virt-io Kernels for older RHEL/CentOS versions
All,
I need to run a number of guests which user older distributions of RHEL
and CentOS on an RHEL 6.3 host. The versions are;
4.8 - i386
5.1 - i386
5.2 - x86_64
5.3 - i386
Currently I am running these with the E1000 network driver and the IDE
driver. Where can I find kernels (or modules) for virtio for these OS's ?
Thanks in advance

Retrive data from repartitioned / reformatted hard drive?
Hi,
The title says it all. One of my clients showed me a 120 GB hard drive
that his daughter accidentally formatted, according to him. I booted the
first CD I had at hand - a Slackware 11.0 install CD - and launched
cdfdisk /dev/hda. cfdisk informed me that there was even no partition
table. So much for reformatting. cfdisk only shows me 120 GB of free space.
Any way to retrive data on this

fs for > 16 TiB partition
Hi,
What would you recommend as an FS for an partition greater than 16 TiB?
This is for an production server (that is, no ext4 recommendations
please :) )
What experiences did you had with your preferred FS ? (good and not so
good points)
Thank you,
Adrian

Fwd: Possible memory problems with mallloc when called with .C()
Hello,
I'm trying to calculate a certain distance estimator for my thesis. I have a
program in C that works fine when I call it with .C() in R, but since
I'm dealing with big matrices like 30000x20000 it was getting a stack
overflow. Now I have the same program but more efficeintly coded using
malloc, and it works perfectlry in C, compiles well with R CMD SHLIB
but when I call it with

R.dll
Hello
After conducting a simulation R closes down reporting the problem I have
listed below. These are extracted from the event viewer option under
the control panel option in windows. This problem occurs quite often
but is as far as I can tell fairly sparadic. I can run identicle
programs which run successfully the first time but on the second run it
does not (and vise-versa also).

virt-sparsify changing the apparent-size of files
Hello,
I am curious why when using virt-sparsify the apparent-size of the file
gets reduced to the actual file size? Is there a way to get the
apparent-size left as the full size?
In the man page for virt-sparsify it has a section on
"IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SPARSE OUTPUT IMAGES" and its output seems to
indicate what I would expect where "ls -lh" shows the full apparent size

Migration hangs on Gentoo with KVM
Hi there,
I'm trying to migrate a domain between two Gentoo hosts using KVM as hypervisor, but the migration hangs.
I tried both live or offline migration modes without success.
Details below.
Anyone has an idea of what could be wrong with my setup? The migration is the only thing not working.

Can''t install Windows 2003 on SLES10SP1
I finally have a xen server to play with stuff that''s causing me
problems on my production servers. One of those problems is simply
installing Windows 2003. Here''s what I do:
Open virt-manager
set up a new install:
full virt
512 ram
20 gig sparse file
boot off /dev/cdrom
The install starts as you''d expect. When it gets to the formatting I
tell it to format in NTFS.

ignore 183 session progress in parallel call scenarios
Hi,
I am using asterisk 1.8.22 and have a problem when calling in parallel
several SIP endpoints and I am not sure how to resolve it. In this case
Asterisk will not bridge any audio to the caller before the 200 OK. Which
means any progress announcements, including remotely generated ringback,
are not passed back to the caller.
This behavior is completely correct, because there is no way to know

Use dialing plan from h.323 gatekeeper?
Hi,
I want to configure * to use a gatekeeper for routing calls to H.323
endpoints. I imagine it will work like that:
* (chan_h323) will query the gatekeeper where to terminate the dialed number
and the gatekeeper will return the information for the h.323 gateway. after
that chan_h323 will try to make the call to the gateway it has received from
the gatekeeper.
so instead of duplicating a

XEN 3.4.1|HVM|physical disk access
Hello folks,
i do not get access to a physical disk with xen. I would like to install
windows xp as hvm to the physical partition /dev/sdb1.
I partioned the disk with cfdisk. Filesystem type is Linux (83). In my
eyes the filesystem using hvm is insignificant(?).
I tried the following configurations; probably a lot more than this.
#disk = [ ''phy:hda1,hda1,r'' ] (comment from

Suggestions on building VM disks from scratch
This may not be the best forum to ask, but it does
seem to be one where it is as likely as anywhere
that someone will have dealt with a similar problem.
I need to define a procedure for last resort disaster
recovery from an incremental file level backup of the
root partition (and any others that are critical.)
Now it is easy enough to create a raw virtual disk
with dd, then to losetup and do a
