estimating degrees of freedom iof student t
I have come across the following situation when using the function pt which calls the student t distribution function. I simulate data from a normal distribution and fit the student t. The estimated degrees of freedom gets larger at each iteration and there is no convergence. It seems there should be some mechanism where it switched to a normal distribution when the degrees of freedom gets

[LLVMdev] Suggestion for VM porting to LLVM
Gabrielle, The way I see it, its pretty much the same thing... Conversion to LLVM-IR of a custom bytecode is the same as conversion to LLVM-IR of a custom language. The syntax of the 'custom language' just happens to be binary bytecode. [LLVMdev] Suggestion for VM porting to LLVM
Well, you are right :) In fact I've started porting the VM in the spare time and it is working fine. I'm still having some issues to understand the garbage collector, but I'll delve more into it as soon as the other features will be complete Gabriele Il giorno 07/apr/09, alle ore 08:22, someguy ha scritto: > Gabrielle, > > The way I see it, its pretty much the same

Problems logging on from XP to Samba PDC w/OpenLDAP
I've been at this for a few weeks, and have read quite a bit on the subject. I try to follow "Samba-3 by Example" as much as I can. I'll apologize in advance if my problems should be discussed elsewhere. Samba's involvement is integral, but I have no reason to suspect Samba is at fault. I'll start by describing what is working. DHCP and DNS look fine. Samba

Escaping characters
Hi, I am writing some help about post formatting. I am using redcloth to format the text, and in a FAQ, also formatted with redcloth, I explain what to type to what to obtain. So, how could I escape ''*'', ''#'' & Co, to have an output like <redcloth> Type *word* to obtain <strong>word</strong> </redcloth> I tried "Type

RESTful web service tutorial?
Hi, I would like to turn some of our simulation codes out to pasture and string some of them together by draping them in web services. I''m looking for a RESTful Camping tutorial to get started ... pointers appreciated. Some simple example applications: airfoil force calculator: feed it an airfoil geometry, an angle of attack, and a Mach number, and it returns the lift, drag, and

[LLVMdev] Suggestion for VM porting to LLVM
Hi, Isn't it intended to explain how to build a compiler for a custom language that targets LLVM-IR ? Is it useful also to understand how to build a VM that is meant to execute custom bytecode (converting it to LLVM-IR previously) ? Thanks, Gabriele Il giorno 05/apr/09, alle ore 11:36, Anton Korobeynikov ha scritto: > Hello, Gabriele > >> thanks for the suggestion. Do you

Moving user account to new filesystem
Good day, I have had samba (3.0.33) working for some time on my Redhat Enterprise 5.1 workstation. I recently had to move one of my user's home directory to a different filesystem. I changed everything in Samba appropriately, but I can't map his home directory to Windows anymore. I have restarted the smb service and reset his password. It acts like the password is incorrect, bringing

qos inside ipsec tunnel
Hello everybody. I would like to do some kind of shaping inside an ipsec tunnel implemented by Openswan and linux 2.6.18.x with xfrm (no KLIPS): for example, to limit outbound smtp traffic inside the tunnel. Question: where should I attach the qdisc to? Eth0? I''m asking this, because tcpdump only see the ESP packet on the eth0 and not the ''clear'' packet. TIA This is my

Recovering a broken mirror
We have a production SunFireV240 that had a zfs mirror until this week. One of the drives (c1t3d0) in the mirror failed. The system was shutdown and the bad disk replaced without an export. I don''t know what happened next but by the time I got involved there was no evidence that the remaining good disk (c1t2d0) had ever been part of a ZFS mirror. Using dd on the raw device I can see data

"no camping required" deployment?
Hi, So Lennon got me going with my database-less Camping app, but I''ve just realized that, I have no deployment strategy. This app is to provide a GUI front end to our FUN3D fluid flow simulation monster, which is used by ourselves, companies, universities, hobbyists, and the military. The end result of which, is a file of (key, value) pairs read by FUN3D. Requiring our users to have

research question
Heya, I'm a PhD student at the University of Southampton. I'm researching the how multi-threaded software uses shared resources such as shared state and message passing over networks etc, and how those uses change across software versions. I am attempting to read through the source code of Icecast but don't have a great understanding of multi-threaded C so if anyone could give me
