Ceph samba size reporting troubles
Dear developement team,
I want to share a massive storage casted with Ceph by samba with
windows workstations.
All works well. My problem so is that in windows the ceph storage size
statistics are wrong. Instead of seeing a 44TB hard drive I see a 176GB
hard drive.
Under linux that issue doesn't show. The size are properly reported.
I investigated around and it seems that the problem

Issue with file permissions when mounting a windows share in linux
Good morning
I'm migrating the folders under a Windows 2003 Standard share to a Linux Samba server. I have mounted the Windows share configuring it in /etc/fstab this way:
//fitxers/personal /import/personal-antic smbfs username=domuser,password=userpassword 0 0
The mount is performed perfectly and the backup script works fine on most files, but there is a considerable percent of files

Quota less mailbox with mdbox
Good morning everyone,
I have a little doubt about setting a quotaless mailbox with mdbox.
Currently we have dovecot 2.0.10 with Maildir as mailbox system. We want to migrate to mdbox.
The migration is simple and easy, but there are some configuration settings we cannot set to work properly.
In our dovecot with Maildir we have the namespace INBOX with certain quota and another one without

(Newbie) Trying to get name resolution functional across the WAN
Hello all,
Sorry if this is not new for you, certainly it is for me.
I've setup Samba 2.2.3a on Redhat 7.3, right off the distribution's RPMs.
Somehow I managed to get it working, as seen from the local LAN where the
server sits, at building A. Problem is, all of my users are in building B,
10 miles across the city from the server room. This is a corporate
environment, mainly Windows and

PXELinux cannot load the config file
I have DHCP and TFTP on a Solaris machine, pxelinux.0 loads, but it
can't load the configuration file. The tftp server on Solaris tries to
send the file, but data transfers do not receive ACKs. Previous posts
to this list have indicated that the suspect was the PXE BIOS (ref

pgamma - inadequate algorithm design and poor coding (PR#8528)
R versions 2.1.0 to present.
Examples shown were computed under Windows R-devel, current SVN, but ix86
Linux shows similar behaviour (sometimes NaN or -Inf rather than Inf,
depending on the compiler and optimization level used).
The replacement pgamma algorithm used from R 2.1.0 has an inadequate
design and no supporting documentation whatsoever. There is no reference

uneven list to matrix
Hello,
I am sure I am not the only person with this problem.
I have a list with n elements, each consisting of a single column matrix
with different row lengths. Each row has a name ranging from A to E. Here
is an example:
alph[[1]]
A 1
B 2
C 3
D 4
alph[[2]]
A 1
C 3
D 4
alph[[3]]
A 1
D 4
E 5
I would like to create a matrix from the elements in the list with n
columns such that the row names

Samba 4 on Production
We're involved in a project that the requirements could be satisfied
with both samba3 and 4. Anyway I am testing what can be done with
Samba4 and after following the tutorial published in the official
wiki, I was able to create my test domain, and join WinXP and Win7
machines to it without a problem.
I still need to test the GPO functionality, and some other stuff, but

btrfs for clustered/distributed storadge (Isilon, Panasas, ceph)
.. it would be great if btrfs could be expended about abilities that
OneFS file system has (FS by Isilon)
.. there is ceph open source clustered/distributed storage system that
is using btrfs, maybe work with those people would be a good start

At minimum, you'll need the recently released libvirt 1.3.2, which contains my
recent commit

[Ceph] blockInfo cannot work with network type disk
Hi devs & users,
The Telemetry service of OpenStack, project code name Ceilometer, is using
libvirt.domain.blockInfo() to get disk's physical, allocation and capacity
information [1]. However, when disk is network type with protocol ceph, the
blockInfo() always fail with: libvirtError: internal error: missing storage
backend for network files using rbd protocol. [2]
