How to trigger a resync of a newly replaced empty brick in replicate config ?
Hi,
I simplified the config in my first email, but I actually have 2x4 servers in replicate-distribute with each 4 bricks for 6 of them and 2 bricks for the remaining 2. Full healing will just take ages... for a just single brick to resync !

[Gluster-devel] Gluster health/status
Gluster devs,
I found the message below in the archives. glfs-health.sh is not
included in the v3.0.3 sources - is there any plan to add this to the
"extras" directory? What's its status?

Hi all,
Here is some work related to Health monitoring. glfs-health.sh is a shell
script to check the health of glusterfs.

No. After bringing up one brick and before stopping the next one, you need to be sure that there are no damaged files. You shouldn't reboot a node if "gluster volume heal <volname> info" shows damaged files.
What happens in this case then? I'm thinking about a situation where the servers are kept in an environment that we don't control - i.e. the cloud. If the VMs are

Disperse volume recovery and healing
Xavi, does that mean that even if every node was rebooted one at a time even without issuing a heal that the volume would have no issues after running gluster volume heal [volname] when all bricks are back online?

How to trigger a resync of a newly replaced empty brick in replicate config ?
You do not need to reset brick if brick path does not change. Replace
the brick format and mount, then gluster v start volname force.
To start self heal just run gluster v heal volname full.

Using volumes during fix-layout after add/remove-brick
Hello All-
I regularly increase the size of volumes using "add-brick" followed by
"rebalance VOLNAME fix-layout". I usually allow normal use of an
expanded volume (i.e reading and writing files) to continue while
"fix-layout" is taking place, and I have not experienced any apparent
problems as a result. The documentation does not say that volumes
cannot be used

compiling samba vfs module
hi All,
The system is Ubuntu 12.04
I download and extracted source packages of samba and glusterfs and I built glusterfs, so I get the
right necessary structure:
glusterfs version is 3.4 and it's from ppa.
# ls /data/gluster/glusterfs-3.4.0final/debian/tmp/usr/include/glusterfs/api/glfs.h

Enterprise Application with O_DIRECT access
Hello everyone,
I am learning and evaluating a glusterfs for film/video editing facilities.
Some major film/video editing realtime applications are using the
O_DIRECT file access for video/audio data files.
The GLFS client via fuse mechanism is disallow the open file with
O_DIRECT flag.
I made a little sample code for read a file with O_DIRECT flag, and
tried open the files on GLFS volumes.

Hi GiangCoi,
The Good news is that now we have gluster-block [1] which will help
you configure block storage using gluster very easy.
gluster-block will take care of all the targetcli and tcmu-runner
configuration for you, all you need as a pre-requisite is a gluster
volume.
And the sad part is

reset-brick command questions
Hi Jorick,
1 - Why would I even need to specify the " HOSTNAME:BRICKPATH " twice? I just want to replace the disk and get it back into the volume.
Reset brick command can be used in different scenarios. One more case could be where you just want to change the host name to IP address of that node of bricks.
In this case also you will follow the same steps but just have to provide IP

glusterfs expose iSCSI
Hi all
I want to configure glusterfs to expose iSCSI target. I followed this

I setup on CentOS7 and installed tcmu-runner by rpm. When I run targetcli,

Glusterfs performance with large directories
We at Wiseguys are looking into GlusterFS to run our Internet Archive.
The archive stores webpages collected by our spiders.
The test setup consists of three data machines, each exporting a volume
of about 3.7TB and one nameserver machine.
File layout is such that each host has it's own directory, for example the

How to trigger a resync of a newly replaced empty brick in replicate config ?
Hi,
My volume home is configured in replicate mode (version 3.12.4) with the bricks

server2:/data/gluster/brick1
server2:/data/gluster/brick1 was corrupted, so I killed gluster daemon for that brick on server2, umounted it, reformated it, remounted it and did a

trash can feature, crashed???
All,
I currently have 2 bricks running Gluster 3.10.1. This is a Centos
installation. On Friday last week, I enabled the trashcan feature on one of
my volumes:
gluster volume set date01 features.trash on
I also limited the max file size to 500MB:
gluster volume set data01 features.trash-max-filesize 500MB
3 hours after that I enabled this, this specific gluster volume went down:

Wrong volume size with df
For what it's worth here, after I added a hot tier to the pool, the brick
sizes are now reporting the correct size of all bricks combined instead of
just one brick.
Not sure if that gives you any clues for this... maybe adding another brick
to the pool would have a similar effect?
