Handling GeForce GTX 850M GPU on Arch Linux
Hello all, I've juste installed a new computer and I feel like I'm having trouble with my NVIDIA GPU but it could be something else so I've enclosed detailed output. As you can see in [lspci] output, my GPU is `NVIDIA Corporation GM107M [GeForce GTX 850M] (rev a2)` whose specification can be found in [specs]. The trouble I'd like to solve has the following symptoms: -->

Wine recognizes GeForce GTX 560 as GeForce 8300GS
Pretty much all games and steam recognize my graphics card as GeForce 83000GS. I think this causes games to run slowly and even freeze/crash when i try to set graphic details to high. Setting VideoMemorySize from registry to the correct amount doesn't help at all. Also setting VideoPciDeviceID and VideoPciVendorID makes things even worse because then it's detected as Direct3D HAL. Nouveau on GeForce GTX 980M
Hi, I was wondering is it possible to can get my GeForce GTX 980M work with Nouveau. I see that the non "M" version if GTX 980 is supported ( https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/CodeNames/) but not the "M" version, how different are they? Now it uses Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe, from my understanding that's fallback using the cpu right? *lshw -C video:* *-display

Problem with kernels 3.15.0-rc and GF114 [GeForce, GTX 560 Ti] (rev a1) **FIXED**
Whatever the problem was, kernel 3.15.0-rc5 fixed it. I am not in a position to do a git bisect at present. Regards Sid. errors with GeForce GTX 650 Ti and 3 monitors
Well, I downgraded back to 2 monitors and it turns out that this problem has reappeared when using only 2 monitors as well. There must have been a regression of some sort somewhere along the line, possibly in one of the latest kernels? What can I provide to help this issue get fixed? -Rob > On Dec 5, 2014, at 8:07 AM, Rob Jansen <rob.g.jansen at nrl.navy.mil> wrote: > > Hi, >

Problem with kernels 3.15.0-rc and GF114 [GeForce GTX 560 Ti] (rev a1)
On the slipstream box I have no problems with 3.14.0 kernel. With 3.15.0-rc kernels, in KDE some applications fail to start - e.g kmix, some like thunderbird come up but are not usable, e.g clicking to display a message text, nothing happens and sometimes screens won't switch. slipstream:~ # lspci 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF114 [GeForce GTX 560 Ti] (rev a1)

Well, I wouldn't say *without* but... crappy :) The nv30 driver leaves a lot to be desired, and it doesn't handle some fairly common cases in more recent software. >
