Dragable element
Hey all
Im having a problem... Ok, this is the situation...
I have a small product image, on which ive floated a div over it, and
defined it as draggable. Now, this works, and i can drag it around no
problem. great. but then, what i want to do is, based on the location of
that dragable element from the top and the left, to move (using the
Effect.MoveBy method) a larger image - so effective

gaussian family change suggestion
Hi,
Currently the `gaussian' family's initialization code signals an error if
any response data are zero or negative and a log link is used. Given that
zero or negative response data are perfectly legitimate under the GLM
fitted using `gaussian("log")', this seems a bit unsatisfactory. Might
it be worth changing it?
The current offending code from `gaussian' is:

ifelse function
Hi there,
I need help with IFELSE function.
The column g of my dataset pth, pth$g consists of "aa", "ao", "dcl", "iy",
"sh".
The last few values of pth$g looks like:
[4496] sh ao ao sh iy dcl dcl aa iy iy aa sh ao ao
Levels: aa ao dcl iy sh
I want to convert these values into 1,2,3,4,5. I tried to use a loop and I

applying a function in list of indexed elements of a vector:
Hi,
I have a vector
Y1 <-c(8, 11, 7, 5, 6, 3, 6, 3, 3)
and an index
iy <-c(c(1, 2),c(1 2), c(1, 2, 3, 4), c(2, 3, 5), c(4), c(5, 6, 7), c(7,
8, 9))
how can I produce the mean, or the sum of the elements specified in the
index iy from the vector Y1?
expecting something like this for the sum:
Y2

I thought lapply function may perform this, but does not work:

Antialiasing plots and text on different devices
I have a question about antialiasing when R generates bitmaps. (This follows
a thread on the ggplot2 mailing list.)
I mostly use R on Linux, although I sometimes use it in Mac and Windows as
well. On Linux, I've found that plotting shapes 15-18 via cairo results in
bad-looking output. The points are not antialiased, and they are jagged and
misshapen. Plots generated in Windows also aren't

Question about target instruction optimization
Yes, such optimizations are something for the "last 20%" of the project,
nice to have's.
As of now, I have yet to get a feeling of what LLVM can do on its own,
depending on what it's from the instruction tables and where it needs
help, and how much in other processing stages.
As this affects the way how the instruction info table will be set-up, I
appreciate your suggestions

order(x,y, decreasing = c(FALSE, TRUE)) - how / elegantly?
I've found the need to compute a version of order(x,y)
where I want the sort order
for *increasing* x and *decresing* y ...
something we could imagine could be provided in the future as
order(x,y, decreasing = c(FALSE, TRUE))
i.e., using a 'vectorized' decreasing argument.
{No, I'm not volunteering right now!}
I've found the following R-level solution and

Defining multiple variables in a loop
Good day,
For lack of a better solution (or perhaps I am ignorant to something
more elegant), I have been bootstrapping panel data by hand so to
speak and I would like to know if there is a way to define multiple
variables in a loop using the loop variable. I found a post (here:
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2002-October/026305.html ) that
discussed naming multiple variables but it

I am getting to grips with R but came across a small problem today that I
could not fix by myself.
I have 3 text files, each with a single column of data. I read them in
using:

myData2<-scan("C:/Program Files/R/myData2.txt")
myData3<-scan("C:/Program Files/R/myData3.txt")

Read.table - Less rows than original data
Dear all,
I have problem when reading a table into R. The total row of read in table
has is much less than the original saved table.
I built a 1,273,230 by 6 data set named "mydata2", it was saved in the
following command,
write.table(mydata2, "mydata2.txt", row.name=F,col.name=T,quote=F,sep="\t")
The next day I read in above saved text file into R,

[LLVM] (RFC) Addition/Support of new Vectorization Pragmas in LLVM
The ivdep pragma is designed to do exactly what the name states - ignore
vector dependencies. Cray Research first implemented this in 1978 in
their CFT compiler, and has supported it since.
This pragma is typically used by application developers who want
vectorized code when the compiler cannot automatically determine safety;
it is not equivalent to the OpenMP SIMD pragma in that the compiler is

How to create a data.frame "like" another, but longer?
Hello,
does anyone know of a quick way to create a data frame "like" another, but
with more rows?
What I'd like to do is this:
if mydata is a data.frame like
a b c
1 TRUE yes
2 FALSE no
3 TRUE yes
I'd like to get mydata2 with the same column names and column types, but
without the values and with more rows.
All I could think of was to manually do

R: Searching and deleting elements of list
you could try mapply
mydata2<-mapply("[", mydata, lapply(mydata, function(x) !x %in% A))
mydata2[[1]]<-A #to replace the obviously deleted elements of "A"
mydata2
mydata2[[1]]
mydata2[[2]]
mydata2[[3]]
mydata2[[4]]

Using apply for two datasets
I can run one-sample t-test on an array, for example a matrix myData1,
with the following
apply(myData1, 2, t.test)
Is there a similar fashion using apply() or something else to run
2-sample t-test with datasets from two groups, myData1 and myData2,
without looping?
TIA,
Gang

Here's a dump of my head(names(df))

replace values in a matrix subject to boolean condition
Hi everybody!
I am sorry to bother you with a question so simple but
I think there might be a
better solution:
I have a matrix of size 360x501 where I want to check
the value of each 5th
column of each row and replace it (and the 6th, 7th,
8th column) by zero if the
value is less than 1000. I have written a double loop
to do that but that
requires a lot of time.
Is there a faster way to

How to add specific column to data.set?
Hi
I have a data.set with 7 lists, with over 7000 observations in each list. to
of the lists contain country names.
like:
aus dnk
fra aus
usa aut
itl usa
.
.
.
etc.
My dilemma is that I want to add an extra column/list to my data.set. If the
countries are both european it should be assigned 1 or true AND if one or
both the countries are non-european it should be assigned 0 or false.
