Inconsistent behavior using 3.1.2 from macOS 10.12.2 to an AFP mount
Hi, I've been attempting to use rsync 3.1.2 to copy files from a macOS 10.12.2 system to an AFP mounted share. The command I'm using is: rsync -avAX -M--fake-super ./testDir ./mnt/testDir/ This works fine and all the extended attributes are copied and readable. I then try to use rsync to copy these files back with: rsync -avAX --fake-super -M--super ./mnt/testDir/ ./testDir2/ This

Post disaster, need old BSD 4.7 to talk to current rsyncd OS X
Sorry slightly OT. Looking for the RSYNC community with modern OS X and older BSD OS to advise how to get rsync build / download for BSD 4.7, so I can backup and update .. Alas found an rsync setup (CCC by Mike Bombich) for my just rebuilt Mac Mini to 10.5.8 .. NOW need to find how to save my BSD box so I can upgrade. Inconsistent behavior using 3.1.2 from macOS 10.12.2 to an AFP mount
Assuming you are aware Apple 10.12.1/2 did a number on crypto, broke SSH, HTTPS to "legacy" servers. using a loop with an integration
Hi, all. I've written a function that returns the survival function for a Gompertz mortality model. I've specified the two model parameters. Using a simple integration, I can calculate the life expectancy at any age. Is there a way I can use a loop with the integration that will quickly return life expectancy over a range of ages, say 0 to 80, so that I don't have to manually type

multivariate ordinal probit regression vglm()
Hello, all. I'm investigating the rate at which skeletal joint surfaces pass through a series of ordered stages (changes in morphology). Current statistical methods in this type of research use various logit or probit regression techniques (e.g., proportional odds logit/probit, forward/backward continuation ratio, or restricted/unrestricted cumulative probit). Data typically include the

plotting survival curves (multiple curves on single graph)
Hello. This is a follow-up to a question I posted last week. With some previous suggestions from the R-help community, I have been able to plot survival (, hazard, and density) curves using published data for Siler hazard parameters from a number of ethnographic populations. Can the function below be modified, perhaps with a "for" statement, so that multiple curves (different line

summing two probability density functions from Gompertz hazard model
Hi, r-help members. I have a question about summing two density distributions. I have two samples from which I've estimated hazard parameters for a Gompertz mortality model. With those parameters, I can calculate the PDF (survival function times hazard function) of ages-at-death in a birth cohort subject to the hazard function at each age. I'd like to combine these two density

Gompertz-Makeham hazard models---test for significant difference
Hi, all. I'm working with published paleodemographic data (counts of skeletons that have been assigned into an age-range category, based upon observed morphological characteristics). For example, the following is the age distribution from a prehistoric cemetery in Egypt: naga <-

significant difference between Gompertz hazard parameters?
Hello, all. I have co-opted a number of functions that can be used to plot the hazard/survival functions and associated density distribution for a Gompertz mortality model, given known parameters. The Gompertz hazard model has been shown to fit relatively well to the human adult lifespan. For example, if I wanted to plot the hazard (i.e., mortality) functions: pop1 <- function (t) {

VPN Server Recomendations
Hi Guys, I'm looking for a VPN solution that will run on CentOS. I've used PopTop with success but some clients have problems at hotels and other firewalled locations. If anyone can suggest something that works well with MS 2000/XP, doesn't require too much tweaking on the client side and is fairly resiliant to various firewall blocking, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

multiple select_tag
Hello again, I have a table called line_items, with the following fields: id int item_name varchar() qty int conditions text I''ve made my LineItem model, and everything works as such (with simple text_fields).. Now I''d like for the conditions field to be a select_tag() with multiple choice possibility. I''m guessing I need some code to expand/restract the array for

Wierd Networking Problem
Hi Guys, I'm 100% sure this is not a Linux issue but I want a second opinion... I have a Linux server running CentOS. It was been absolutely perfect without any errors or problems. Since Monday it has been unable to send email. It is configured to act as a smart host. All email gets forwarded to smtp.isp.net. The server is on a network behind a firewall completely nat'd. No ports

new HOWTO - Lumicall/Android with an Asterisk PBX
After a lot of questions from Asterisk users, I've now created a dedicated page with settings for Lumicall and Asterisk to work together http://www.lumicall.org/configuration/asterisk As of the 1.8.x releases of Lumicall, it is much more consistent at remaining registered on devices that frequently sleep. This is mainly based on the addition of SIP outbound keep-alive over TLS/TCP,

1.8.3 - IAX - echo - jitterbuffer
I'm using iaxagent on a Droid X to connect by IAX to 1.8.3 at the office. 1.8.3 has sip phones. The audio is fine on the Droid X side. On the office side, they hear an echo of _their_ speech, not mine. The office uses sip-providers generally without any echo problem. Where do I start to figure this out? How do I narrow it down? Can I figure out if it is an iaxagent problem? Could using

MySQL Replication as Load Balancing

segfault on Sparc Linux (RH6.0)
We are having problems building R on Red Hat Linux 6.0/Sparc. R compiles with no problem but then it fails "make tests". Specifically, the line eigen(cbind(-1,c(1:2,0),0:2)) # complex values causes a segmentation fault. Previous versions of Red Hat Linux did not give this problem. The eigen() function is one of the rare cases in the base library where Fortran code is called via the

Processing config files as ERB templates
For various reasons it''s very handy for us to process our mongrel cluster configuration files as ERB templates during start up. I found a post from a couple of years ago on this mailing list about possibly adding that feature. But nothing seemed to come of it. I''d like to submit a request for this feature to be added, but I can''t figure out how to go about it. Is this

Internet Load Balancing and Failover
Hi All, Does anyone have any experience connecting two or more DSL/Cable modems to a Linux box to provide load balancing and failover? I've done some googling and found a few resources but very few solid experiences. I'm trying to optimize my LAN->Internet traffic for a bunch of workstations. Shawn
