Samba not locking files
Hello,
I created the following samba share but for some reason samba is not locking the files open by other users. For example user dave open a file in the share and user slav does not get the notification that opened file is already being used by another user. I even added the locking options to the global but no luck.

Anybody knows if it's true tha it's harmless?

Name Resolve Order : parameter of smb.conf with testparm
I am writing this letter and I hope that I'll have answers about the
generation of smb.conf by the way of smb.conf.master with testparm command.
Like is described on page 5 of Samba3-HOWTO.pdf.
The situation is:
- The manual of smb.conf says that the default value of the parameter ?name
resolve order? is ?lmhosts host wins bcast?, but when I type the command
like:
# testparm -s

List windows clients/machines in network list (win 7)

Note: this situation happens with machines that were joined to the domain
and with others that weren't added to

do I disable roaming profiles??
There are three ways of doing this:
In smb.conf
Affect the following settings and ALL clients will be forced to use a local

There are no currently logon servers available when mapping with "net use"
Hi people, I have a problem and I need so much of your help.
I have a login script in \\server1\netlogon\script.bat (on my PDC and BDC)
that runs "net use" commands to map some shares in time of the logon.
This login tries to map share in another server (samba member of domain
\\server2).
So, I put the result at a log and appears these lines:
"
System error 1311 has occurred.

Migrating samba domain to new computer.
Should have read this first:
http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/upgrades.html#id2600749
Problem is I did it the wrong way on a few production systems.
Odds are this is the second time I did it wrong.
Running Debian Lenny using smbldap.
It mostly works.
Existing members of the domain are working OK.
The first thing that got my attention is was not able to join a new xp

Fw: net join error
Did you follow step-by-step the guidelines explained in the HowTo to join
ADS?
We too have a W2K3 server updated to last sp and post-sp updates by
Windows'
automatic update and we encountered no problems following the HowTo.
By example, the line "security" of smb.conf file must be set "ADS", not
"domain" as in yours...
In addition, the HowTo says

Domain join OK, but testjoin not and authentications not working.
Dear all,
This is now for weeks that I try to get samba working again. This is
urgent as all users profiles are on this server.
Everything was working well, until we got Welchia Virus. We removed the
virus, and updated our servers to SP3 + Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe
patch.
I removed the SP and the Patch, but I'm still unable to correctly join
the domain.
I upgraded to Samba 3.0.1

Synology NAS Samba Upgrade breaks "Classic" domain membership
I have a Synology NAS array appliance. It is linux based and uses
samba for file sharing. Normally the config is done via a gui
interface but you can ssh to the array. The domain controllers are
running Samba 3.6.x in classic domain mode. I have member servers
running 3.6.x and 4.3.8. no problem.
I recently updated the Synology "OS." The current version of samba is
