pseudo R-squared with likfit (geoR)
We want to compute a pseudo R-squared for a model whose parameter estimation was based on maximum likelihood (function likfit, package geoR). I tried to compute the R2 proposed by Maddala (1983) which compare the maximized likelihood for the model without any predictor and the maximized likelihood for the model with all predictors. I got a really low value (0,01%). Did I miss something? Are

pseudo R-squared for model generated with spgm (splm)
I am working with the splm package. I use the spgm function: general estimation of a panel data model. Based on this approach, I know it is possible to compute a R2, eg the ratio of variation explained by a given model. My model is : bivmod<-spgm(logIKA~NBLITRE0+NBLITRE1,data=mydatap,listw=comsKnn.nbW,spatial.error=TRUE) I know that we can calculate the R^2 as the variance of the fitted

Samba as PDC and BDC on the same network.
I have recently configured two servers to be controlers of my domain. The first one is the PDC and is configured like : domain master = yes prefered master = yes local master = yes domain logons = yes security = user os level = 99 And the second, the BDC like : domain master = no prefered master = no local master = no domain logons = yes security = user

substring if value starts with a character
Hello togehter, i have a litte problem to convert a data.frame. My data.frame looks like this one A 1 R5000 2 R4800 3 R4700 4 3500 5 3800 I need now a command, which outputs all the numbers, without the character in front. The solution look like this one: A 1 5000 2 4800 3 4700 4 3500 5 3800 Thanks. Best regards. Mat -- View this message in context:

Another loop avoidance question.
Hi I want to sum over one of the dimensions of a n x k1 x k2 array in which each column is the product of the corresponding columns from two matrices with dimensions n x k1 and n x k2. I can see two approaches: a loop on k1 and a loop on k2. But I cannot figure a solution that avoids the loop? Is it possible? (I don't refer to apply or lapply etc either as they are just hidden loops so,

Hi, I am trying to bootstrap the difference between each parameters among two non linear regression (distributed loss model) as following: # data.frame > Raies[1:10,] Tps SolA Solb 1 0 32.97 35.92 2 0 32.01 31.35 3 1 21.73 22.03 4 1 23.73 18.53 5 2 19.68 18.28 6 2 18.56 16.79 7 3 18.79 15.61 8 3 17.60 13.43 9 4 14.83 12.76 10 4 17.33 14.91 etc... # non

About R variable references
Hello Group, I could use an advice on how SEXP handles work. My aim is to implement a system where I initially set a few global variables that are used for communication between C and R code. Then I do some work with R code and periodically call a function of my own that will update the system state. Such a design is useful for many purposes (for GUIs to name one). I am not entirely sure that R

Strange t-test error: "grouping factor must have exactly 2 levels" while it does...
Hi, Could anyone tell me what is wrong: > length(unique(mydata$myvariable)) [1] 2 > and in t-test: (...) Error in t.test.formula(othervariable ~ myvariable, mydata) : grouping factor must have exactly 2 levels > I re-checked the code and still don't get what is wrong. Moreover, there is some strange behavior: /1 It seems that the error is vulnerable to NA'a, because it

Help with reading information of "summary"-Object
Hi, I am quite new to R - but quite expierience in programming. Nonetheless I have some problemes in accessing information of the "summary" object. Here is what I do: model <- lm ( y ~ myVariable ) "summary(model)" gives me an object which has a lot of information about the regression. Now I'd like to access programmatically the level of significance which is

mda and kmeans
Hello, I am using the function mda of the mda library in order to discriminate 4 groups with 8 explanatory variables. I only have 66 observations. I tested all possible combinations of those variable and run for each the Mixture Discriminant Analysis. For some iterations, I got an error message: "error in kmeans(xx, start): initial centers are not distinct". I understood that the

variable labels to accompany data.frame
Often it is useful to keep a "codebook" to document the contents of a dataset. (By "dataset" I mean a rectangular structure such as a dataframe.) The codebook has as many rows as the dataset has columns (variables, fields). The columns (fields) of the codebook may include: ? variable name ? type (character, factor, integer, etc) ? variable label

can a class find out it''s instance name?
Hi friends - a javascript question.... Does the prototype object add some way for a class to find out the variable name of its instance variable? Or does javascript have some built in way to do this? This is confusing to describe - but if I define a variable as some object: var myVariable= new Widget(''fdfa''); can some built-in method inside the Widget class be

Winedit and R
Hi all, I am trying to install add-on in R (rw1070) to work with WinEdit. Libraries Swinregistry and Rwinedt have been installed via "Install Package(s) from local zip files" from R. However, when I run library(Rwinedt) I get the following messages: > library(Rwinedt) Loading required package: SWinRegistry Error in loadNamespace(name) : package `methods' does not have a name

Problem with effects package
Dear List, Several times I use this package I get the error message shown below. When I work out simple examples, it turns out to be fine, but when working with real and moderate size data sets I always get the same error. Do you know what could be the cause of the problem? Error in apply(mod.matrix[, components], 1, prod) : subscript out of bounds Error in

hierarchical partitioning
Dear all, I am trying to model variation of distribution of species assemblages according to environmental variables. For that I use a log linear multinomial regression. In order to select variables that mostly discriminate the assemblages, I tried to apply a hierarchical partitioning protocol to my data set. For that I have adapted the all.regs() for multinomial model. The problem is that I

tzone and DST
I'm reading in ~3 years worth of data that includes hourly timestamps. Presumably to avoid DST confusion, all the data is in PST time zone -- no discontinuities in the spring or fall. The data comes in a csv file, which I'm reading with myvariable <- read.csv("my_data_file.csv",header=FALSE,

setvar from chan_dahdi.conf
Would someone be able to give an example of a working use of setvar from chan_dahdi.conf? I am trying to create a custom variable like I use in sip.conf but I have been completely unsuccessful getting any variable set using setvar to appear for a DAHDI channel. I am running 1.8.11-cert8 and am using the newer format (but I have tried using the older [channels] format). Here is an example:

Coplot Given text
Greetings: I am unsuccessful in suppressing "Given : myvariable" from a coplot. There was such a question in the past but the thread breaks down. I am sure this is a "for dummies" question :-). I tried: coplot(myvar~myvar | myvar, show.given=FALSE, xlab="....", ylab="...", main=" ") and some other variations (including without main=" ")

I’ve missed the discussions on file_time_type, however I thought I should throw in my opinion here before it is too late to do anything about it. I believe it is a mistake to model file_time_type with 128 bits. It
